Curious, I drove across the street and parked conveniently at the store. I ventured inside, and I'm so glad I did. The owner was welcoming and very knowledgeable. Each item in her store has a purpose, reuse, a thoughtful connection to Mother Earth, or something novel (e.g., I was loving the Janis Joplin poster). The store was filled with unique finds, some even creatively made by the owner herself. She had a great collection of rocks and crystals as well. The buccal facial was not something that I knew about but Larissa is extremely kind and welcoming, she has such a cozy space and walks you through the entire experience. It is bizarre to have someone work on your buccal muscles and it feels very intimate, but everything is sanitary and she's so kind while she goes through it. As someone who constantly clenches their jaw at night (and has to wear a mouthguard, per my dentist), this released SO MUCH TENSION that I would absolutely do it again! I was curious about the services she offered and how they might enhance my generally-going-great life. I admit that some of the techniques and methodologies she described to me felt a little "out there," but I decided to set aside my skepticism to see where the journey led me. Did I understand when she explained frequencies or energy work? No, but she has the right combination of professionalism and warm personality to make me trust her. During the energy work, my eyes were covered as music played in the background. Although I don't know exactly or completely understand what Kara was doing, I know it affected me. Once I felt a weight on my chest. Another time my hands buzzed and ached. Sometimes my feet tingled. It's difficult to describe exactly what was happening, but afterwards I always felt both relaxed and refreshed. We spent a couple of sessions prepping me--emotionally and physically--for an immersive experience that was spiritual for me. Even more important, we spent several sessions after that integrating and examining the experience. I was surprised what I learned about myself during the entire process, and what I learned that I needed to do to continue to improve my "generally-going-great" life. Kara is insightful, thoughtful, patient, and kind. She guided this 69-year-old to try something new and enriching, and for that, I'm extremely grateful.

The owner proceeded to pester me outside of my post and then slander me on my post saying I must not really want a massage, that I was faking needing one. I got set up with a much more professional and respectable company and will never hire Be Balanced. Hopefully if this person is a good massage therapist they practice better interpersonal skills with future potential clients. Edit 1: The owner has responded to my review here with more evidence of his unprofessionalism. I have screenshots of everything to prove everything I've said here. Starting from the top of his response, I will take a humble masseuse over a man with a fragile ego any day. The boasting is unprofessional and is insulting to all those in his profession. You do not need a bunch of gold stars to be a good massage therapist. You do need them if you have a fragile ego and want validation for your accomplishments. Moving on, his response lies about me reaching out to women and wanting to work with them. I was looking for level-headed and competent therapists and I only reached out to a single person to see if they were available. That person is a man. There was no slander allegation, it's a slander acknowledgement. It happened. I think the proper legal term is libel but this isn't a courtroom. He lied about me on my post and continued to lie about me here. No offense was taken by any part of this. I just don't think this person should be getting business when this is how he conducts himself. And his closing advice is that if I need a therapeutic massage I should try not getting one? Man needs to get a grip. Last note is that he didn't even spell the association that he's on the board of properly, leading him to claim to be on the board of an association that doesn't exist. Never have I met someone in this profession so unhinged and fragile. Edit 2: The owner has since edited his response to be much more professional but it's still passive aggressive. There was no apology for his behavior, but I guess that's smart on his end as it'd be an admission of misbehaving. Taking responsibility for his actions appears to be outside his wheelhouse. Anyways, I've attached some screenshots to show what I'm talking about. If you don't want to call it slander, call it lying. Same difference.
