Very cute little shop! I stumbled across this store with a friend, and we were both pleased with the amount of product they had inside. They have crystal bins with tiny stones that are perfect for kids to sift through. They have some nice bigger pieces as well, and some chime candles and other items, depending on what your interest is. The staff is extremely kind and really helpful. I took one star off because some of their citrine appears to be heat treated amethyst. They do label the genuine citrine, but if you want actual citrine, you will need to watch for this! Overall, a great shop that I already revisited two more times, and I'm sure I'll be back again! read more

I've passed by this place numerous times, but never really had a reason to visit before. I figured it was a hippy place that sold hookahs, incense, holistic snake oil and psychic crystals to restore your inner chi or whatever. It actually is all that, but it also has an impressive selection of gems and minerals and this is why a friend suggested we go. He's a big-time rock hound and is into collecting. My kids have also shown an interest in collecting mineral and gem specimens and so I went with the thought that I might get something for them. First of all, the store does have a pretty impressive array of stones that are very well organized. They also have a great selection of different incenses and scented candles (my oldest is pretty sensitive to odors and so really loves these things as well.) The location is not inconvenient and there is a reasonable amount of parking in the back. So, you ask, why only 2 stars? Well, a few reasons: first, the prices are a bit egregious. I recently took my sons to a rock and mineral show in Wyoming and got them 4 times as much for half the cost. Second, there was a "psychic" there (yeah, I meant to use quotations on that) who was more than a tad annoying. Even though my buddy and I were intently looking over the minerals and gems, she kind of accosted us about doing a reading and despite the fact that we were clearly uninterested, we each got a card shoved at us. Maybe it was because we were polite to her, but if she was really a psychic, she might have been able to sense the outcome. In any case, it was off-putting. Last, and probably the most bothersome issue: the service is not at all good. The proprietor (owner?) did not seem customer or service-oriented. I mean, in the least. She was texting on her phone while a long line of customers were waiting to check out, then finally looked up and gave some excuse like "I just had to send these important texts". Clearly, running a business is not the priority here. She also proceeded to chat up the first lady in line about housing costs or some such while everyone else got to enjoy another 10 minutes of standing in the line. Love this local shop for crystals, tarot cards, incense sticks and anything spiritual related. Staff is very friendly and they also have psychic readers on certain days. You can book a reading on the web site or call for an appointment. The readings are $40/half hour. Parking: turn onto Atlas Street off Lake Drive and then turn into the parking lot adjacent to the building. It has affordable ($7-12) (Aura Cacia brand) aromatherapy oils, beautiful scented candles, incense, and a selection of mindfulness / Buddhist and therapy-informed books. It also has motivational / best self guiding and affirming CD's (Belleruth Naparstek, cancer recovery, etc). It sells rocks and crystals and has some jewelry. It's a totally Eastown (artsy/hippie) vibe. Very kind and helpful staff and owners. It is located right next to the building of The Grand Rapids Pride Center. Resident feline George (?22yo!) sits in a basket or roams around the store. The owner's golden retriever is around some, too, so pet dander allergy sufferers be aware. Also there is a really strong incense smell - personally, for me it's too strong a smell (some days). They also have psychic readings with a few different readers who rotate days. read more

It's a bit overwhelming when you walk in, but everything is labeled nicely. The staff wasn't overbearing and let me do my thing, which was very nice. Spirit Dreams is a great shop that has a lot of cool little treasures. When you walk in there are a lot of beautiful crystals/rocks/fossils, spiritual readings/materials, motivating quotes, and gifts. This place is great for incense although there is a slight markup on them. There is an awesome variety of different scents. There's really cool home decor (like fire-thrown geode pottery, canvas prints, abalone shells, etc.) and a lot of random things that you can use! There are so many herbs and oils for teas. It really is a place to go to to find random treasures. You won't walk out of this place bored. It is a very unique little business that serves a great purpose in the Bohemian side of Eastown. I was just in Spirit Dreams. There is a dog in the store (the owners' dog, no leash) who GROWLED at me and started walking towards me! Not once but twice. After the first growl I turned to the sales assistant, kind of surprised, and she said, 'the dog may not like the fur trim on your coat'. I quickly went out the door shaken, thinking if I didn't leave right away, the dog may bite me. I called the owner who gave me excuses and this has never happened before blah, blah. She was very defensive and quite rude and not at all concerned for what happened to her costumer. She didn't suggest she would look into it or keep the dog from the public area. She suggested the dog was looking out the window at an animal! I am writing this as a heads up to anyone entering this establishment. I have gown up around dogs and am aware that if one starts exhibiting this kind of behavior, no matter how sweet its owner says it is, that sooner or later its going to happen again or worse. Please be mindful if you go into this store of the dog. I would hate for this to happen to anyone else or their child. So scary. As for me, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

The staff are always helpful, the merchandise is top quality, and if you need someone else to do a reading for you what's wrong with that. Another great Grand Rapids classic. Even though Grand Rapids might be considered a "conservative" city, this place is a respite for the wiccans, pagans, and pagans at heart. Right across the street from the Kava House coffee shop, is this little interesting gem. Inside is a whole new world full of crystals, stones, tarot cards, books, chimes, incense, and many other fascinating things to touch, smell, and look at. Best place in GR but compared to others across the country, lacks greatly. Decent selection but quite overpriced. I still go by and spend money because it's the only crystal store around but it stings for days after in how much everything costs. Tiny quartz zips, an inch long... $2 for just one. It's definitely worth checking out. I also get a very on edge kind of vibe when I go in with my kids. And my kids aren't running wild by any means. There isn't any warm energy vibe either from the staff. I give it 4 stars for the selection, the east town location and because it's the only kind of store I've found around here. read more

The store itself is beautiful. They offer a wide range of stones, icons, memorabilia, jewelry, books, and supplies for spiritual practitioners. However, the prices are extremely high; even for a specialty shop such as this. The energy isn't welcoming and feels a bit contrived. I had been to Spirit Dreams many times over the years, but hadn't had a reading there before. The "psychic" with whom I scheduled a reading, Vivian Love, was a huge disappointment. The owner knocked on the door, let her know I was there, and the woman didn't take a 30 second break before seeing me. I instantly regretted booking a full hour within minutes of meeting this woman. She asked obvious leading questions, was WAY off base, heavily suggested a specific person close to me was stealing from me (which was absurd,) and was less psychic or intuitive than she was a jaded old woman with preconceived notions who behaved more like a judgmental therapist with an opinion. I tried to redirect her; asking questions about other areas of interest. She kept coming back to the same subject like a dog with a bone. Throughout my time with her she was drawing a picture of what I assume was supposed to be of me. It looked like something a proud 8th grader produced and I didn't take it when it was offered with her card. I was charged $80 for her time and a waste of mine. I looked at the clock several times. She was running out the clock until there were 10 minutes to spare, then told me I still had time left, but I didn't really need it. I've waited 3 months, out of morbid curiosity about the validity of her predictions, to add this review of her and Spirit Dreams in general. The few definitive answers she gave to very specific questions have already been proved to be wrong. It saddens me that 'Open Mind' in Rockford is no longer open. They had an authenticity which Spirit Dreams lacks. read more
