We spent countless summer days having picnics and tea parties here when she was younger. She flew her first kite here as well. Flash forward, my youngest makes us play ice cream shop here in the playground. My family and I frequently visit on the weekends with the kids to allow them to expell their energy. This park is huge and well maintained by the city of Sparks. Kudos to you guys for doing so! The playground is the only one that has shade in summer. One reason why I'll always return. The last visit was for a family baby shower this past weekend. It was a perfect evening. I'm looking forward to cooler nights and strolling through leaves soon.

The Sanctuary was so clean and the animals looked healthy and well taken care of. We watched enrichment feeding with several of them and each enclosure was beautiful. The setting is gorgeous and it's an easy walk to each enclosure. We loved learning the names of each resident animal, and their back story and history as to how they came to live there. They have an amazing array of animals, including bears, wolves, raccoons, a coyote, a porcupine, a jaguar, a cheetah, a bobcat, a mountain lion, foxes, owls, and other birds of prey. We took our time walking around and enjoying the beautiful location, and it took us about two hours to see everything. Laura, on of the staff members was super friendly, and Jasmine gave an amazing presentation on their Porcupine. She is extremely knowledgeable and sweet. We hadn't been there in over twenty years, and we were amazed by the changes. The restrooms were super clean, there were plenty of garbage/recycle cans available, and the paths were clearly marked. We didn't try the food truck, but it smelled delicious, and they had an ice cream truck, and a bar with a great variety of drinks available, many of which were from local breweries/distilleries. The gift shop was great! So many cool things to look at and purchase and they carry soft drinks/water and ice cream. I highly recommend a visit! They are doing incredible, life-saving work for animals who have no other option. This event was adults only, but their normal operations are family friendly and they have a ton of special events listed on their website!

Only reason for 4 stars: it's a lot smaller inside than I expected, with some unused space in the back that could be better utilized--maybe more seating or an arcade corner? There are three soccer/football fields at this park. All three fields are in excellent condition. There are basketball courts which are very nice. There is a nice walking path throughout the park. The path is paved. There are three playgrounds at this park. All three playgrounds have soft padding underneath them. Two of the three playgrounds are definitely geared toward toddlers. Bigger kids will likely get bored quickly when playing on them. One of the playgrounds is a playground for the bigger kids. However, this playground is very similar to several other playgrounds in the area. If there is one area where Golden Eagle Park could improve its the playgrounds. A much bigger, unique, playground would be appreciated. There are no swings at any of the playgrounds. The whole park is very clean and there are several bathrooms. The road essentially ended and I parked on the side. I approached the cracked lake shore and took a quiet and interesting walk. I avoided the wetter mud areas in case I could sink in it. I saw interesting stilts with brown wings, black Ibis and other birds with really long beaks. This shore location is not well travelled as there was no foot prints, doggy doo-doo or trash. There even was a continual light wind that cooled the hot sun. No toilets or water along this desolate shore location. Next time I will try different directions and head to the actual parking lot!
