It has nothing else other than the restrooms (one for men, one for ladies and one for the disabled). There are lots of parking. Most people just make a quick bathroom break and off they go back on the road. The washroom is kind of old but they are ok. They are not super clean nor super dirty. It is what you expect to see at a typical rest stop. Note that there is no free wifi here. Forget about free wifi actually, there are no phone reception for many.

The toiletries could be a big bigger as it was not enough for both of us for 3 nights. Breakfast was decent. No more waffle maker but there was a 1 minute pancake machine that worked pretty well. Also fruit, boiled eggs, variety of breads, cereal, milk alternatives, granola, yogurt, egg bites/mini omelettes/sausage/hashbrown. And of course coffee, water, juice, tea. Some reviews said there was banana bread and other baked goods but I didn't notice it other than the muffins. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the BW and hope to be back soon, although the prices are consistently higher than other hotels in the area.

Dogs barking in two rooms. Startled us. Kept barking until we were in our room. Each time we went down the hall they would bark and howl. Woke us up at 3am. Hotel staff advised and did nothing about it. Told again in morning but had some excuse, 'oh well just dogs'. Not acceptable. Pool closes at 9:30. Why? No lifeguard and on first floor near stairs etc. should be open until midnight. Breakfast was good, however the potato patties were terrible- bland and wet, not crunchy.

It is a themed room. It was interesting when we walk in that we saw a stove, a big fridge, a hot water tank etc. It is like a suite. It is clean that is for sure. There is two beds in the room. One outside in the living room and one in the bedroom. The stay wasn't bad. The room was just interesting. Floor didn't match the furniture. But that didn't really bothered me. Overall, this is Merritt and for its standard the room is new and clean. We were told the owner will do the rest of the room next spring. The location is a bit out of nowhere. Not much restaurants nearby.

There were plates and cookware avaiable for use. If you decide you don't want to do your dishes there is a fee. And if i remember correctly is $3.00. I would stay there again. The décor of the hotel is a cross between run-down old glamour, recently renovated with new furniture and a coat of paint, and a place where friendly regulars come to drink on a weekday afternoon. A stage and dancefloor on one end and pool tables on the other. We arrived right on time for Happy Hour (drinks only), and enjoyed some mini-sized dirt cheap domestic beer. The smaller glasses held the right amount of beer for me; my husband had a little more beer. We ordered nachos using criss-cross fries to share. A generous portion of nachos arrived and we had our own little portions of salsa and sour cream, but we only got cutlery and napkins, but no plates to share. I guess I was used to always having small plates to help me navigate the nachos. We ended up killing more trees by using extra napkins as plates. They were as you would expect; melted cheese, olives, bell pepper and (thankfully non-spicy) ground beef. An interesting substitute using the criss-cross fries, though I would have preferred just having the new fries to themselves. Happy hour glasses are smaller and cheaper and when you add up the multiples of beers and their prices, it's probably comparable to the Happy Hour prices in a lot of other places.

They are very proud to share the history about the home. As a person who did not grow up in Canada , I found it fascinating how people lived in the western world in the 1930's. What's even better is you get to touch and try some of the things they put on display: my daughter liked the mechanical mixer :) In the same location, just outside the house, you can use the open space as a picnic area. They provide chairs and tables. They even offered free lemonade to the kids. You can play the giant jenga, corn toss, and other activities. The visitor center/store offers ice cream and many unique treats for people looking to discover a new treasure to own. Many of these items have been donated tot eh city. I'm so glad we came and explored this place. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn about Merritt and a little about BC history through show and tell.

However note that it doesn't open until 7am on weekends which caused us to delay our departure. Super 8 Motels provide you a service of a room to sleep in on those long drives at night. Much better than bunking in your car and struggling at the wheel half asleep.
