A very good historian of the local land. Great service so kudos to Brian. I had their chicken burger lunch special with fries and a beer and for under $25 left full!

The décor of the hotel is a cross between run-down old glamour, recently renovated with new furniture and a coat of paint, and a place where friendly regulars come to drink on a weekday afternoon. A stage and dancefloor on one end and pool tables on the other. We arrived right on time for Happy Hour (drinks only), and enjoyed some mini-sized dirt cheap domestic beer. The smaller glasses held the right amount of beer for me; my husband had a little more beer. We ordered nachos using criss-cross fries to share. A generous portion of nachos arrived and we had our own little portions of salsa and sour cream, but we only got cutlery and napkins, but no plates to share. I guess I was used to always having small plates to help me navigate the nachos. We ended up killing more trees by using extra napkins as plates. They were as you would expect; melted cheese, olives, bell pepper and (thankfully non-spicy) ground beef. An interesting substitute using the criss-cross fries, though I would have preferred just having the new fries to themselves. Happy hour glasses are smaller and cheaper and when you add up the multiples of beers and their prices, it's probably comparable to the Happy Hour prices in a lot of other places.

The itinerary was specifically planned to accommodate Mum's sundowning and the dog's bladder. That is, arriving by dinner time in the shortest possible time. Now, while the greatest failure of all was committed by the shuttle company who botched our booking and did not pick us up (see "Airport Shuttle" review), once we arrived by taxi at YYC, the Westjet staff at the gate should have been more on the ball. Our plane was still parked at the gate, the waiting area full of people. I asked the girls at the Westjet boarding desk if they could keep an eye on Mum and her dog while I grabbed two coffees. You need to know that YYC is a very small airport, you can see most of the entire waiting area. The girls said "No problem" and "Of course" simultaneously. Minutes later, when I went to Mum, the plane was pulling away 10 minutes early! Westjet had been made aware at booking that we were travelling with a service dog. The girls should have known they were missing passengers and realized we, with dog!, were they, and told us to board immediately. You can read all about how f*d our day became from here in aforementioned "Airport Shuttle" review. And, I do believe the Westjet boarding gate failed equally. The Westjet manager was able to get us on a much later flight which arrived in Winnipeg at midnight after making it very clear "that we don't usually do this for third party bookings". Clearly, he was accepting at least some responsibility for the huge gaff. Thanks for getting us there one almost the same day regardless.

I will not be a repeat customer. My advice would be to use any other travel agency. I arranged a…read moregroup booking agreement with one of the owners, Lani Malanchuk, so that the guests attending my wedding could benefit from booking together. After sending out my invitations, I thought it would be smooth sailing. This premature thought was anything but accurate and given that everyone had Lani's contact information, I was stuck with her. More than 10 business days would go by after guests inquiries with no response from her before guests would turn to me out of frustration. When I let Lani know that this time frame was unacceptable and unprofessional she assured me that she would pick up the slack. However, after a short passage of time, she fell back into her old habit and when I confronted her a second time about her far from stellar service, she informed me that a heart attack in her family was to blame. I can understand why that would keep her out of the office, but what I can't wrap my head around is why this kept her from having her paid employees fill in for her. We ran into a serious problem of untimely and non-responses on her part yet again a couple months later, and this time she explained that her business partner had passed away. Yet again, I understand that unexpected life events crop up, however, I still can't understand how a business owner is not able to delegate tasks to her paid employees during such times. Instead she chose to ignore the messages my guests were leaving for her, necessitating my involvement on their behalf. Anyone who has been involved in the organization of a wedding, can understand that this extra task that fell on me, the bride, caused a great deal of unnecessary stress. As the wedding rapidly approached, we ran into a snag with one guest who hadn't booked in a timely manner and Lani assured us she was doing what she could to find a solution. On more than one occasion Lani informed this particular guest that she would have a final reply by a particular day, however, that day would come and go with no word from her. My guest and I would both contact her yet again and be given a similar reply from her about a new particular day and be left hanging yet again. Fortunately we were able to book this guest in the end, no thanks to our "travel professional."
