So naturally when I heard about this casual spot in the Valley View Mall serving these and other Signature Drinks and Akai Bowls I immediately planed a trip to the Mall to try it out. This very unique establishment located in the Food Court of the Valley View Mall in a location behind a large window counter near the Barnes and Nobles Bookstore and Food Court tables and chairs, is one of the businesses in the Mall that is continously full with people of all ages: families, friends, and others, wanting to enjoy some quality time together, enjoying a special treat and drink. When I arrived at the place I examined the menu located above the wall in bright menu displays. A young lady employee greeted me with a smile and took my order. I ordered an Iced Thai Bubble Tea with Boba and some Ohio Crepes with Peanut Butter, Nutella, Banana, and Crushed Cookies. Both items were very fresh and delicious. As I enjoyed eating and savoring the Crepes at one of the tables in the Food Court area of the Mall, I observed many other people passing by this business and ordering especially Smoothies and Specialty Drinks. I highly recommend this place whenever you want to enjoy a special Crepes treat and freshen up with a cool glass of a Smoothie or Specialty Drink.

Great to see representation for Korean food where we would least likely expect it…read more The banchan was tasty but weirdly limited (we were only given four for a whole family), teeny tiny portions (each normal-sized banchan dish was not even 1/3 full...come ON!) , and they never got refilled either. The Caucasian waitress did not seem at all familiar with the menu, so that was weird. The food was very good for the most part but could be better. So many options--nice offering! Strangely, the bibimbaps (we had 3 different ones) do NOT include fried egg on top. You have to ask for it and pay extra for it, which is ridiculous. If the cost of eggs hurts you that much, just raise the price. The menu even LISTS egg as an ingredient which makes it more confusing, but that apparently refers to the scrambled eggs that is chopped up inside the dish. Those scrambled eggs were kinda dry. Also, the veggie bibimbop was missing any flavor..had to add some banchan in there to get it up to par. Chicken katsu over rice was decent. Side of cream soup was ok. Waitress had absolutely no idea what ingredients were in it when we asked, AND she did not even offer to find out for us. We asked her to ask in the back and she never did come back with an answer. The beef kimbap/gimbap was really dry somehow. Like maybe the scrambled egg in it or the meat or both were overcooked and the rice not so fresh. Also it was missing flavor...it did not come with sauce or the pictured fish cakes. No sauces were available on the table. I had to steal some sauce from the banchan bowls to help choke it down. Also they're made just HUGE so it takes two bites to eat each and then of course that makes them fall apart. Really pretty to look at though. The miso soup sides were really good--usually at our local place they give us mild egg drop type soup so it was a welcome change. Would we eat lunch here again? Probably, since we just absolutely love Korean food...but we will learn from this experience and order differently next time. The mochi donuts on the way out..the cinnamon sugar ones were hard and dry and much smaller than the other flavors...so that was super weird. We ordered via the kiosk but when we got home we realized the humans got our order wrong so that sucked (the order is printed right there ON THE BOX, come on people) soooo...check the box before you leave!! The donuts could be way better...we usually get them in Newport News and those are bigger, fluffier, and chewier, but this was a decent attempt anyway. Oh, and the bible verse on the insides of the boxes was off putting. Because of that, we will not buy from the donuts/boba shop again. I feel like this place could do better but they're just not striving to, because they have no competition in the area.

Conveniently located on 1 W Main Street, in the heart of Salem, Virginia, right next to the farmer's market, Lucky Cat Cafe is a charming buble tea and homemade gelato store with a cozy atmosphere and a wide selection of other items, such as ice-cream, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh sushi, mochi donuts, macaroons, and other sweet treats. They have a free parking lot and free street parking. The cafe is decorated in anime style with lots of posters and figurines for sale. As first-time visitors we were very impressed with the store's vibrant decor and welcoming ambiance. It is the perfect spot to visit with family or friends, to share quality time with while enjoying one or more of their delicious and refreshing treats. At the Lucky Cat Cafe we can find something for everyone. When we first arrived, an Asian lady who seemed to be the owner, greeted us behind the counter and gave us a warm welcome. She answered all our questions and invited us to look around the store. When I found out she was of Chinese origin I said "Xie Xie" to her that means Thank you. I also expressed my pleasure in visiting her Asian family-owned business and her appreciation for this was returned with a big friendly smile. Even though I had invited my friend here for a Gelato. As soon as he saw the Mochi donuts he ordered two, inviting me for one of them. I asked for the original flavor, and loved the texture as well of the flavor of the Mochi donuts. Then we went to the Gelato freezer display case, and looked at all the interesting flavors they had. My friend had a scoop of the Taro Gelato in a cup and zI had one of Mango, my favorite fruit. I asked for the bill and paid with my credit card. Tip was optional by clicking a spot in the payment computer. The Mango Gelato was so delicious. It was very creamy and refreshing, with just the right temperature. While eating the ice-cream at one of the round tables with my friend, I noticed the cleanliness of the place. When we finished with the Gelatos, I told my friend that I wanted to support this Asian family-owned business some more and invited him to a Buble Tea with Bobas. He had the Matcha Tea with Lychee Bobas and I had the Mango Tea with Mango Bobas. They were very good and refreshing and the owner appreciated our business. While we were there other customers came by for Gelato as well and to look at all the small figures they had for sale. In conclusion. I highly recommend this Cafe and Ice-cream Shop for their fresh, flavory, and refreshing menu items and their amazing customer service. They seem to enjoy seeing customers go to their store and make you feel right at home there.
