My mother was once a member of the Moon Valley Country Club, and she very much enjoyed her experience being a part of the community whether playing golf, dining at the restaurant, or taking part in one of their many other events. This evening, a member invited my sister, my wife, and me out for dinner at the Moon Valley Country Club restaurant Grille 59 (which is not yet on Yelp as of yet). I remember eating there previously a few times. Today's Yelp review is of this evening's dinner at Grille 59 at the Moon Valley Country Club, where we celebrated my sister's recent birthday. They have several dining areas from the bar, the wine tasting area, the Founder's Room, the casual dining area (where we ate this evening), more formal dining area, and a large covered terrace. When we arrived around 6 PM, there were very few occupied tables. A reserved table awaited us though it took a few minutes to be greeted when we sat down. While our server was helpful, it took quite some time for our orders to arrive and a table arriving after us was served before us (and left well before we did). Together we ordered the Blistered Brussel Sprouts (fried brussel sprouts tossed in caesar dressing and topped with grated parmesan) as a starter. Then, for my entree, I ordered the Hand Pressed Burger (100% Wagyu beef patty, toasted potato bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo) with a Caesar salad. My wife ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich (grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, garlic aioli, toasted potato bun) with fries. My sister ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl (sliced Chicken, Rice pilaf, Carrots, edamame, bok choy, bell peppers, scallions, a teriyaki sauce drizzled and sesame seeds). Our host ordered the Sedona Cobb (Hearts of romaine, bleu cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg, bacon bits, southwest spice chicken, cherry tomato, avocado, bleu cheese dressing). We all thought our meals were good though my burger and her chicken were a bit more well-done than we typically would have wanted. The chef and culinary team use fresh local and seasonal ingredients and change the menus with the seasons along with the nightly specials. They are open on Tuesday and Wednesday for lunch service, Thursday through Saturday for lunch and dinner service, and Sunday for brunch service. Have some friends that belong and went for a Friday night dinner and drinks. Service was outstanding. Nick is great. Cocktails good. I had the seasonal special of a Harvest Moscow Mule made with cider. Food was average. My husband wasn't a fan of his chicken. I tried the coating and thought it was above average and would order if I went again. My crab salad app was average. Basic mayo imitation crab salad on toast points. The bread was fantastic. It appeared to be deep fried but the bread was still soft in the middle. Overall it was a good experience but I must say if the service wouldn't have been as good as it was my rating would have been 3 stars for the average food. read more

Walked to the club to watch the sunset with friends. The view was gorgeous. The restaurant was having Italian night. We got two different green salads, garlic bread, pizza and a pasta made to order. The salads were very fresh and good with quality ingredients. There was a cheese pizza and a sausage, kale and pepper pizza that were tasty. The pasta was mixed in front of you by the chef made from your choice of ingredients and sauce. The Alfredo sauce was very good, the red sauce needed a little more spices. It was half price bottles of wine night so we chose a nice Pinot Grigio. Overall a good meal! read more

I have been coming to Mvcc for nearly 10 years now. I had my wedding here and recently moved into moon valley just around the corner from the club. This place was great when I first came here but with the new owners group on board and membership climbing it is only getting better. I have never seen Mvcc look better and it makes me proud to be a member. Finding a neighborhood like moon valley is hard enough, but when you add a central hub like Mvcc it really makes it special. With a restaurant, bar, workout facilities, pools, and don't forget the golf how does it get any better. If more neighborhoods in arizona were built this way it would only help the quality of life for all of us. read more

service was horrible and treated young moms and teenager's like they were below others, had snarky attitudes and were very raciest. we ordered 2 baskets of fries and never received them very disappointing and im canceling my membership, would rather eat at mc Donald's their food has more flavor. they walked passed us several times while serving other people. not only did we have to wait an hour and a half for a side of fries. they are dressed horrible and not well put together so they have nothing to judge us for. take a look in the mirror before u leave the house. read more

On rare, special occasions, I get to experience the country club life! A very special friend booked a tee time for me and I took full advantage of it. Moon Valley Country Club is located in North Phoenix in the Paradise Valley region of the valley. It takes about 30 minutes from Downtown Phoenix to get there and you need to have your GPS or map help you get there. It's a bit off the regular path and you have to navigate the country club area to get there, but the club stands out beautifully against the homes and north mountain backdrop. I took advantage of some merchandise sales going on and got a logo hat, some golf balls and ball marker. The staff is exceptional, (no surprise there) and the course was nicely cared for. Played the course at 6500 yards and had some challenging par 4's. The only par 3 I managed to hit the green on was the 198 yard par 3! I need to work on my 8 iron. On course beverage was outstanding and very prompt. Saw her 4 times in the 3 and a half hours it took us to finish the round. Overall, Moon Valley Country Club is an exception course but, obviously, not going to be accessible to everyone. If you get the opportunity to play it, please do so! You'll be very pleased. read more

Moon Valley was great! We had such a great time there for a wedding. The staff was on top of things and the food was great. There's a golf courses which we also indirectly enjoyed lol and patios to enjoy the nice weather our beautiful Arizona offers us almost all year! We played corn toss for a while there too and that was fun. The veggie plates were good and the experience was great! Definitely worth checking out! read more

I had my wedding here on March 7th period it was amazing we had the ceremony on the green which was very well kept and beautiful with the pond and fountain in the background. We had the reception on the restaurant patio with perfect lighting for the dance floor and more than enough space for a 140 people. They had beautiful rooms for the groom's men and bridal party to get ready. Kathy was amazing at organizing and getting everything we wanted I recommend this place to everyone. Prime Rib Saturday night was the best prime rib I have ever had! Tyler, the sous-chef, who prepared this amazing piece of prime rib was manning the cutlery station. I had an interesting encounter this evening. I have been a member here for some time now and pulled in to the back parking lot today because my kids wanted to take a walk on the path. As I was unloading my kids I noticed an employee (Brian) walking around smoking. As I get my kids out of my vehicle he tells me to make sure I stay off the golf course (did not even ask if I was a member or not). I'm not sure if he just automatically assumed that because I was Hispanic that I didn't have a membership. Regardless, I ignore what he tells me then as I start walking with my kids he tells me again to stay off the course. At this point I am not only in disbelief but feel absolutely disrespected so I ask if has a problem. Brian then proceeds to walk up to me and gets in my face to tell me that this is a private golf course and I would be trespassing, again not even once asking me if I was a member. I then proceed to tell him that I am a member and he says to me "people like you don't have memberships here". I have lived in this neighborhood for several years and have been paying my dues to this club and never would I have thought that I would be treated and approached by an employee of the facility that I pay $500 a month to. I could have brought this concern up to management but I wanted this to be public. I wanted people to know that employees like this work at this facility. Things are looking good over at the club. The service was very attentive and the food was great. It appears they may be working on the menu so that is nice. There are sponsoring a lot of events and the atmosphere seems happier. I've been to MVCC a few times and it's a pretty nice place. They have a good golf course and the staff is usually friendly and very helpful. However, I was just planning my high school reunion and was trying to find a venue to have it at. I thought of Moon Valley Country Club because we actually had our senior year high school prom there and I thought it might be fun to have our ten-year reunion there also. I contacted Sara in catering and she took awhile to respond initially. Then, when we finally did get her on the phone, the place sounded great. It was reasonable cost-wise and the food sounded good too. We told Sara to draw up the final costs and send us a document containing them so we could go over it and sign a contract. At this point, we were 99.9% sure we were going to choose them. But the weird thing was that we never heard from Sara again. She didn't respond to two emails or a phone call and at that point, we didn't feel like we should be hunting down the catering director to give her business. Isn't it the other way around? After that, we decided to go to the Hyatt Regency Phoenix and have had much better luck there. The staff is soo attentive and responds almost immediately to emails. They also worked with us on pricing and budget, so I recommend them instead of Moon Valley. read more

I've been a member of MVCC since I was 7 years old (over 20 years). This country club has become a staple in the Moon Valley community. Unlike other "country clubs" Moon Valley is a reflection of the community that supports it. There are members from all walks of life that come together to enjoy swimming, tennis, basketball, golf, dining, etc. Ego is checked at the door as plumbers, accountants, contractors, and doctors all sit at the same table to share in what the club has to offer. The championship golf course was redesigned in the 90's by golf architect Bob Cup. At over 7,000 yds it is a true test of golf. The layout itself can compete with any country club course in the valley. On any given day there are 3-4 different groups playing at the club with a set game and tee times. It's one of the few places I have been where new members can assimilate quickly in to a group that fits their social and gambling needs on the golf course. The club has recently restructured it's monthly dues schedule. Monthly dues for a full golf member are down to $495 a month. This is $200-$500 below other country clubs around the valley. For the price and product I could not think of a better club for a young family. read more

My family has had a membership at MVCC for several years now and I'm always thrilled to visit. The club has great service, beautiful facilities and convenient-but-tucked-away location. Absolutely beautiful and challenging* course. Course: Gorgeous, super fun, well kept Gym: Great gym, never too busy to use the equipment you'd like. Lots of space and high-quality equipment. Frankly, I'm surprised it's not busier. Pool: Large, fun outdoor pool. Great for swimming laps, hanging out, or grabbing some rays. Food: Great food at the clubhouse. Exactly what I'm looking for after a long round. Big TVs and great view of the course with lots of light (but not too bright). Overall: Strong 4 stars. I'm very happy with MVCC and look forward to my next visit -- even if I score over 100 by the 16th hole! *Footnote: I use basketball scoring when I play golf (aka more=better), so my definition of "challenging" may be different than someone who actually plays golf. read more

To preface this review, it is simply one reviewing the golf course. However, the other facilities seem pretty great for the members. I really like this golf course for many reasons-I just played it again this morning and thought I'd leave a review. It's always green, well-watered, in great shape, and is a semi-private club. With that being said, only certain tee times are open to the public. I suggest booking through GolfNow. Keep in mind, if you're going to book an afternoon time through GolfNow, you'll likely be put with others who booked through the same site-the times fill up fairly quickly when the rates are low and it's a weekend. Practice facility is awesome! Greens are great to practice on...with two nicely-sized putting greens, and two massive greens for pitching. They even have a shag-bag filled with balls on one the chipping greens near the 18th hole, which I thought was pretty cool. I'm big on eating at the turn. I can say with conviction that the hot dogs, pretzels, hamburgers, and beverages at the snack bar are top notch! Minus a star for having hardly any yardage markers on the course, so be aware. Luckily, I've played this course a lot and I am someone with an "eye for distance", but it will be frustrating on first-time players here with the absence of something this important on the course. I hope this gets fixed soon, but otherwise I still highly recommend this place. read more

Every time I walk through the doors I am greated in a plesant voice. Everyone who works there are so nice. I love the fitness area, I find my body craves workouts and their fitness area is perfect for me. Personal trainers are always around. Not long ago the Accounting office worked with me, I was having a hard time financially, such nice people. Oh and I love the Ceasar Wrap from the Snack Bar. The mid-day menu in the Grill is tasty as well. read more

We braved the heat while enjoying the discounted rates of summer golfing. Positives: very polite and helpful staff, course is full of trees for shade and occasionally a challenge, beautiful course all around. A good mix of 3, 4, and 5 pars, and 4 tee boxes. One last thing I liked about this course, if you land OB, there was no real rocky areas-mostly soft dirt/sand. Negatives: a lot of trees (a positive and negative), and this last point could be just this season, but fairways were deep and rough grass, and the greens were like grease lightening. I would definitely return to this course, though preferably in a cooler month. read more

My fiance and I chose Moon Valley Country Club for our wedding venue and it was the biggest mistake we have made!! When we first saw the venue it looked nice and they seemed to have great deals, we met with Lisa Hatch who was friendly but even with our first conversation seemed unorganized. This made me hesitate, but my fiance liked the venue so we told Lisa we would like to book it. Lisa told me she would send me the contract and I would be able to place a $500 deposit to secure our date via email. I told Lisa I wanted to book Moon Valley as our venue on 7/12/17 Lisa confirmed my name, email address and phone number on 7/21/17 I emailed her reminding her I was ready to make the deposit on 7/24/17 No response. I emailed her asking if she had secured our date and needed the deposit from us on 10/18/17. She responded that day. Finally. I paid the deposit 10/20/17 She told me she ran the deposit 10/24/17. We still had not discussed further information on my actual wedding plans, time of the wedding, any food. Lisa then emails me 11/23/17, 3 months before the wedding asking what time the wedding would be and where the reception is going to be. I told her I had that information and I had several questions for her. Since we have not had great communication via email I requested to meet in person to discuss. On 11/22/17 I requested an appointment to see Lisa at 12/2/17 at 1:30pm. Lisa agreed. I called Lisa when I was 15 minutes out from the appointment to tell her I was on my way, she didn't answer, I left a voicemail. I show up to the appointment and Lisa is not in her office. I send her a text and wait. I walk into the front near the reception stand, there is no one around to ask questions. I called Lisa's office phone, she does not answer. I call Llisa's cell phone, she does not answer. I wait in the front reception area. I email Lisa, I wait. Lisa did not answer, or go into her office in the 45 minutes I spent waiting for her. Eventually another couple walks in looking for Lisa. I told them "Good luck" and that I was unable to contact or see Lisa during my appointment. Lisa calls me when I am driving home to apologize insincerely. I offer to turn around and come back so we can complete the appointment but she says no because it "sounds like I'm busy" I told her I was not busy, I'm just extremely frustrated. She just offers to reschedule. I asked for next soonest time I can come in, she says next weekend, I asked for anything sooner she says "Oh well I have a bridal expo tomorrow, you can come to that" All in all, I cannot trust that Lisa will be in control to facilitate my wedding. She cannot maintain proper communication with me. I am extremely pissed because now I am less than 3 months out from my wedding and will now have to scramble to find a new wedding venue AND I will have to re-purchase wedding invitations with the new location on them. Lisa has made this process extremely complicated and ruined most of my wedding plans. I wish I had listened to my instincts when I first met with her and found her to be disorganized. read more

Was so looking forward to the golf experience.... What we experienced was a course during prime seaon that evidently cut off water to their majestic trees (now dead or dying). Hit off so many dead patches it reminded me of some of the cheapest munis I've ever played. Will not ever play here again! Of the hundred or so courses I've played in the Phoenix area would rate this course experience amongst the worst. read more

We had our wedding at MVCC on 11/2/13. Our big day was absolutely perfect. The ceremony facing the golf course was spectacular and the reception flowed perfectly. Karen was a great source of information throughout the planning process and her experience was invaluable on our wedding day. Chef Alan and his staff knocked it out of the ballpark. Our guests were raving about how awesome the food and service was during both the cocktail hour and the reception. We would highly recommend this beautiful venue to any couple. As a wedding / event venue Moon Valley pulled out all the stops! Karen and Sherry were well organized and attended to all of our needs getting ready for the big day. As the wedding planner i could not have been happier with my clients choice in venue. Our package was all inclusive of food, bar and cake and penciled out to be a true value! Played golf 3/18/15 with a group of 4. The greeter at the bag drop is incredibly impatient and rude. The concessions were not open to buy a coffee or water at 7:40 am prior to starting our round. One of our 4 players got sick and left the course at hole #4. They would not refund me for his greens fee. I will not be going back... NOT THE WAY TO INCREASE YOUR MEMBERSHIP! read more

MVCC is a great place. It has some of the best food around. They feature a 10 for under $10 night on Thursday. Among the items offered is Beef Tornado and Shrimp dish that is one of the best tasting entree's I have had in a long time. The service is awesome. It is truly beautiful to sit on the Patio in the evening, watching the sunset, talking with friends, and enjoying good food and drink. In the event it happens to be a cool evening, they have individual firepits to sit around. (I am not a member and just happened to stop by and realized what a unsung place this was.) read more
