    Food on the farm

We loved The Farm at South Mountain! You can eat breakfast or lunch, walk the property, play yard games, see the garden, animals, and market. It was a lovely way to spend our Sunday.

The Farm, a calm and scenic countryside view that you can enjoy some sandwiches, salads, or desserts at. The service is all at the counter with kind-hearted staff that accommodate to requests at a moment's notice. A dish I tried and want to highlight, the Smoked Brisket Banh Mi, for a 22$ price tag hurts my heart as a Vietnamese person but I still gave this a chance purely off flavor. I came to really love all the bites of Banh Mi with the French Dip soaking into each bite to add the salty goodness balanced out with the pickled veggies inside while the brisket was soft and tender to complete it all. Pasta salad on the side was a nice touch, not over the moon about the super small serving but it wasn't bad. Definitely a place to enjoy nature's breeze, calming ranch-like views, and some sandwiches. If I were to revisit, I'd want to try some of the bigger salads.

The Farm at South Mountain is such a great spot to grab lunch and wander through the open picnic table area. I kept wondering where they hide all the animals, because I was fully ready to go search for the cows. Morning Glory's hours weren't quite accurate, as they close at 1 p.m., so we ended up at the Farm Kitchen instead. My sandwich was fresh and inviting, though it could have used a bit more sauce or overall oomph. The menu also felt slightly on the pricey side, but perhaps that's the tradeoff for using such fresh ingredients. I'm not entirely sure, but I'd love to come back and see how their events are put together. Overall, the atmosphere is wonderful and feels like a family-friendly space where you can comfortably bring just about anyone, including your fur babies.

Very pretty, working location that normally closes for the intense Arizona summers. You can walk the property and see what they have growing, and say hello to the chickens/ducks and sometimes turkeys in their coops. This is also a reservable venue for weddings! The food here is pretty pricey, but delicious. It's a great time when the weather is nice to sit outdoors and enjoy a good meal. The eggs are fresh and most of the produce is too. Would recommend!

My all-time favorite place! I always bring family and friends here when they're visiting from out of town because it's such a fun spot. They have great sandwiches and salads, along with different daily soups. Everything is fresh, and I especially love their prickly pear lemonade. You order inside, and then they'll text you or call out your order at the outdoor pickup window. You can eat outside and enjoy the farm view. it's lovely, with lots of green grass and trees. When you're done, you can play cornhole or walk around and see some of the farm animals! Service is quick and efficient, and it's always a fun place to enjoy a great meal!

This place feels like being back east on a farm. I spent some time wandering around, checking out all the animals and vegetable gardens--there's so much to see. I recommend arriving a few minutes before opening to stroll around, relax, enjoy the weather, and look over the menu. It was super peaceful at first, but by the time I was leaving, it had gotten really busy. I ended up choosing the following: Loaded Japanese Sweet Potato - A

Such a charming spot to explore! I stopped by on a Monday, so Morning Glory Café, Quiessence, and the Botanica shop were closed. Luckily, The Farm Kitchen was open -- and it did not disappoint! The sandwiches were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, perfect for a relaxed outdoor lunch under the trees. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality, setting, and overall experience make it worth it -- especially if you enjoy lingering over lunch in a beautiful, peaceful environment. I imagine The Farm feels more lively when all the restaurants and shops are open, but on a quiet Monday it had a calm, serene vibe -- almost like having the place to yourself. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the grounds are lovely to stroll through after lunch. TIP: If you enjoy a slower pace and plenty of space to wander, visit on a weekday. For the full experience (with all shops and cafés open), check operating hours and plan for a visit.

The Farm at South Mountain offers a truly unique experience in Tempe, just outside of Phoenix. My family and I have explored many places in Tempe, but this remains one of our favorites. We especially appreciate the use of fresh ingredients in every dish and the wide variety of gluten-free options available. I love being able to sip my coffee outdoors while taking in the beautiful scenery. On some weekends, the farm hosts a farmers market, and other times, they organize special events for children. This past weekend, for example, the kids enjoyed a story-time session with a friendly witch named Wendy. She was a wonderful storyteller who engaged the children in her magic show. There were also plenty of arts and crafts materials for the kids to decorate pumpkins, which were available for purchase. Overall, it was the perfect spot to take fall photos and create lasting memories. We will be back very soon!

Beautiful. Great for families with children. Yummy food options (a bit pricey so be aware, but no entrance fee so it works out). Plenty of shady options. Would absolutely go back.

Its a nice little spot to check out with the family. Its really a farm to table spot with all their fruits and vegetables. Plenty of shade to sit outside and enjoy your meal. I got the brisket chilaquiles, the brisket was good, with there was more of it and the chilaquiles had good flavor just wish they was a bit more spice to it. Overall was a good dinning experience.

Beautiful urban farm! Amazing grounds to stroll. Animals, plants, gorgeous surroundings. The menu is huge and outside to see easily before entering to order. There are plenty of tables outside. Food came out quickly and was delicious!

I would give this place a 5 * on ambiance! This place was perfect for a birthday, a shower, an event, or wedding. It really is super cute and food is as fresh as it gets. I wouldn't give it as high of stars for price. We bought three sandwiches and a kids sandwich and a single lemonade and it was $80. This is totally reasonable for many, but a little outside our budget for just a family meal outdoors. Love that they have yard games, shaded areas, plants and animals. Beautiful and fun, just pricey!

The "+1" at a friend's work party...let's get this party started!

Came here as a "+1" to a friend's work Christmas Party. The party was a blast and the venue was spectacular! With roughly 250 - 300 (maybe more?) in attendance throughout the night, The Farm was a great place for a large gathering with an amazing & unique atmosphere. Dance floor, DJ, outside taco buffet style dinner, bar, corn hole and other various games...you name it! Highly recommend looking at The Farm as an option for a work or other party :)

Ask the Community - The Farm At South Mountain

Can I bring my well behaved dog to the farm?

Yes! I saw many people with their beautiful well behaved dogs.

Is there anything to keep kids occupied on the property?

There are lots of things for kids to see, such as the animals, fresh growing food, and lots of open space. Basically lots of open space for the mind to grow on its own!

What's it like when you reserve time for a social event? What is an estimate of price? Is it a buffet for everyone? If you reserve time at the pecan grove, how many people will be able to be seated at once?

Hi Britney, you can find all of the information for our picnic parties here: https://www.thefarmatsouthmountain.com/picnic-party/…

    Are you closing after may?

Hi Yingyang, yes we close for summer break. We will have open dates on our website as it gets closer, but usually, it is in September.…

Do you have to have a reservation?

Hi Erin, our breakfast and lunch restaurants do not take reservations unless you book a picnic party. Our dinner restaurant highlight recommends making a reservation.

Are there any animals on the property that are open to the public, like goats, or sheep? Not to purchase, but just to pet or feed.

Hi Natasha, we only have chickens. Thanks!

Is there any vegan options on the menu?

Yes, there were salads and veggie dishes when I visited for lunch.

Is it open for breakfast during the week?

Yes - hours in March/April are 8-8 weekdays

    Are dogs allowed here?

    Yes

I came here for a really large work party and the best way to describe the ambiance was a nice wedding reception without a wedding. We had beautifully decorated tables with assigned seats, fun music, a bar, and photo ops. The drinks were good - in my opinion they were pretty standard event cocktails. Definitely tasty, but not craft cocktail level drinks. When it came time to eat and we all went through the buffet, I had pretty low expectations since it is a buffet to feed over 100 people. I have to say though, the food was really and truly wonderful. Best event food I've had hands down. Overall if you're looking for a fun place for your next large party this is a great option. The music was awesome and overall I had a great time, I would have given 5 stars if everything was cool, except not everything was cool. Main issue I have with the venue is lack of restrooms for that many people. There has to be more access to restrooms with people drinking and dancing and partying. The line for both inside and outside toilets was insane... I heard so many people commenting about the situation. Maybe next time, more porta potties outside so 1) there are more options and less lines, and 2) the ones that are available aren't so disgusting. I've used many porta johns at many festivals, for this size venue the 3 they had outside (without leaving the show) were gross. I literally could not touch anything in there. Just hover and pee. They had 2 more when you leave but there were no ins/outs so those weren't an option. This can be done better, I know cause I've been to places where taking care of peoples basic needs are more attended to. Anyway, otherwise great time. Music & sound were on point and the lasers were so cool. #ilovelazers

Not the most comfortable chairs but bearable for the hour performance. There's exposed wood on the ceiling which adds to the aesthetic. During the event I attended, there were bars both inside the main area and out (no food though) as well as bathrooms both inside the main area and out. After buying an adult beverage, I accidentally left my credit card at the bar. When I realized it a few minutes later, the bartender was waiting for me with my card. Crisis averted!
