2/28/26: it was disappointing eating lunch at The Farm. Years ago we had eaten at Quiessence and had a lovely time. Wanting to try another of their restaurants before the ungodly heat arrived, we decided to stop in for lunch. Parking: can be a bit nerve wracking, especially parking in the dirt lots east of the place. You have to walk across 32nd St & if you know Phoenix drivers, this can be dangerous. There is a pedestrian light now, though, so that helps -- but oddly enough, there's no "walk" signage. It's merely a blinking yellow light for north- sound-bound traffic so you have to pray to the universe drivers are paying attention & actually stop for you. Ordering: a bit odd. The main door we went in was more the middle door that didn't really take you to the beginning. There's a drink station then the food station. We skedaddled to the right of the main doors for the drink order, only to discover there's another door that people walk through to place orders. So we joggled w/ another customer trying to figure out who was there first. It honestly felt like a school cafeteria, a bit chaotic, as well as cramped. The patio was pretty large & well shaded, but it was also full -- and this particular day also the ONLY SHADE. We were left to sit at one of their many tables on the grounds with no shade. Food: not worth the $77 we paid. I get it's a working farm, & though we try to support local as much as possible, the food we ordered was not good enough that we will stop by again. The strawberry fields salad was a typical salad, no wow factor there. The Italian sammy was dry. There was a minuscule amount of some kind of dressing on it, but def not enough. Dessert: red velvet whoopie pie was so overpriced it's not funny. If it tasted great, I wouldn't complain...it did not taste great. The pecan pie was abysmal; not enough filling and very bland. Our plan was to go for breakfast but we missed the 11 AM cutoff by 15 minutes. That was fine and we decided to stay anyway because they serve "gourmet" Sandwiches and Salads. I ordered the Chicken BLTad. The ad was apple and dates. The total cost for 1 sandwich with no sides or drink was $21. Reason for the two star the service was fast. But for a $21 sandwich It is 100% counter service. You sit at old tables with wooden benches outside and go to a window to get your order when they call your number. No different than any fast food place. If I just judged the sandwich I would give it 1 star. The chicken was supposed to be marinated, it had a little coating of something on the outside that never absorbed into the chicken so it was just regular sliced chicken breast. The bacon was OK, the tomato tasted fresh I have no idea what the sauce was supposed to be but it had little flavor. There were a couple of Granny Smith apple slices that were fresh but I never did taste any dates. The Farm is known for its fresh greens. The ones on the sandwich were fine but nothing special. There worst part of the sandwich though, was the bread. It supposedly was some type of artisan bread but it was incredibly dry. I bake bread and this was equivalent to at least 3 day old bread that has been wrapped in paper. If I ever go again I will try the breakfast or a salad. The salads I saw other diners eating looked passable. I will never get a sandwich. read more

The Farm, a calm and scenic countryside view that you can enjoy some sandwiches, salads, or desserts at. The service is all at the counter with kind-hearted staff that accommodate to requests at a moment's notice. A dish I tried and want to highlight, the Smoked Brisket Banh Mi, for a 22$ price tag hurts my heart as a Vietnamese person but I still gave this a chance purely off flavor. I came to really love all the bites of Banh Mi with the French Dip soaking into each bite to add the salty goodness balanced out with the pickled veggies inside while the brisket was soft and tender to complete it all. Pasta salad on the side was a nice touch, not over the moon about the super small serving but it wasn't bad. Definitely a place to enjoy nature's breeze, calming ranch-like views, and some sandwiches. If I were to revisit, I'd want to try some of the bigger salads. read more

The Farm at South Mountain is such a great spot to grab lunch and wander through the open picnic table area. I kept wondering where they hide all the animals, because I was fully ready to go search for the cows. Morning Glory's hours weren't quite accurate, as they close at 1 p.m., so we ended up at the Farm Kitchen instead. My sandwich was fresh and inviting, though it could have used a bit more sauce or overall oomph. The menu also felt slightly on the pricey side, but perhaps that's the tradeoff for using such fresh ingredients. I'm not entirely sure, but I'd love to come back and see how their events are put together. My all-time favorite place! I always bring family and friends here when they're visiting from out of town because it's such a fun spot. They have great sandwiches and salads, along with different daily soups. Everything is fresh, and I especially love their prickly pear lemonade. Such a charming spot to explore! I stopped by on a Monday, so Morning Glory Café, Quiessence, and the Botanica shop were closed. Luckily, The Farm Kitchen was open -- and it did not disappoint! The Farm at South Mountain offers a truly unique experience in Tempe, just outside of Phoenix. My family and I have explored many places in Tempe, but this remains one of our favorites. We especially appreciate the use of fresh ingredients in every dish and the wide variety of gluten-free options available. I love being able to sip my coffee outdoors while taking in the beautiful scenery. On some weekends, the farm hosts a farmers market, and other times, they organize special events for children. This past weekend, for example, the kids enjoyed a story-time session with a friendly witch named Wendy. She was a wonderful storyteller who engaged the children in her magic show. There were also plenty of arts and crafts materials for the kids to decorate pumpkins, which were available for purchase. The Farm has become a regular stop whenever golfing in the area or heading/to from the airport. I have only stuck to the breakfast items, as getting here early beats the crowds. The brisket tacos, pork tacos and chilaquiles are all enjoyable - combined with the atmosphere it's a great place to enjoy the weather and grab a laid back bite. The Farm is beautiful! We live less than a mile away and I can't believe I only recently visited recently for the first time. The weather was oddly beautiful in early May (not scorching hot) and we took advantage of exploring this hidden gem. The Farm is massive! They have multiple restaurants inside but they also host corporate events, weddings, and other local events like yoga and pop-up shops. There is greenery everywhere so it felt like I wasn't in the desert anymore. They grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, and I love all the different flowers too. The Farm has animals like chickens, roosters, ducks, and there's even a huge turkey. They sell local eggs and there's a retail store next to Morning Glory. We dined at Morning Glory which had a very long line for Sunday brunch. I recommend coming early to beat the rush. I ordered the heirloom cauliflower hash with extra arugula and no dairy. I wish this came with more proteins than just 2 poached eggs but it was pretty good. My fiance ordered the loaded japanese sweet potato which came with brisket, caramelized onions, cheddar, 2 eggs, cilantro, and onions. I had a bite of the brisket and it was so moist and flavorful. I would recommend if you wanna explore this hidden gem at South Mountain, especially when the weather is primo. The food is good but it is a bit pricey. read more

I went to try yoga at the farm on a Sunday morning. The weather was amazing. It was such a great way to start my Sunday. The instructor Jess did a phenomenal job. The class was relaxing and my body felt amazing afterward. Me and a couple of my friends who I met there are at the restaurant after and omg I wish all restaurants had food this fresh. The fresh squeezed orange juice was to die for. The brisket tacos with fresh farm eggs were delicious. We walked around and enjoyed the venders and being outside for a while before heading out. What a fun place! We were staying right down the road and our Uber driver recommended this spot. They have restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner but make sure to check the individual restaurant schedules as they are not all open at the same times, or every day. We tried the lunch spot and had a lovely salad and sandwich with prickly pear lemonade. Yum! You go through a line and place your order then come back for pick up. They have a ton of picnic tables spread around for meals and since it was a nice day we sat in the shade and felt like we had our own private space. There is a lot of great walking areas and plenty to see for kids, and it made me think this would be a great spot for a family meet up! I'm a frequent visitor to The Farm at South Mountain or at least I try to be. I absolutely love the outdoor vibe of the farm because it provides a peaceful serenity to the outside world. I often frequent Morning Glory Cafe for breakfast or brunch, and for the occasional lunch, I'll head over to The Farm Kitchen. What keeps me coming back to both is how consistently fresh and farm-to-table everything is. That's one of my favorite ways to eat, and both establishments nail it every single time. I haven't been for dinner yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to experiencing that as well! Outdoors at the Farm leaves you with such an amazing feeling of calm. The Farm is definitely a place you want to check out, especially if you consider yourself to be the outdoorsy type. It's such a unique and beautiful place to spend some time, you great food and great views right at your feet. Literally a must visit for those visiting Phoenix! I say this because it's located right near south mountain so for the active people, wake up early and get a hike in before you stop by for a delicious breakfast. For the shoppers, there's an onsite shop to browse once your done dining. For the nature or animal lovers, walk the farm and explore the chickens and other animals and food being grown. For the foodies, everything on the menu is delicious! Got kids? There's space to run around with them or show them the animals. Plus, it's all outdoor seating so watch them play while you eat. Is it pricey, in my opinion, yes. It shouldn't cost $50 for breakfast out, but we go here on special occasions or when my family comes to town. They LOVE this place. The Farm at South Mountain is one of the most unique places to visit within the city of Phoenix as it is almost impossible to think that a full-fledged farm would actually be within its limits, not to mention such a unique sight as a working farm, cultural center, host of eateries, gardens and nature all combined. This is either a long morning, or long afternoon adventure (during good weather) as strolling through the gardens, admiring nature at its best under human hands, thinking of its history as an ancient riverbed, having the endurance and procreation of flowers, edible plant life, grasses and so, so much more. We as a community, here in South Mountain, as well as Phoenix as a whole, should be proud that this monument to nature was envisioned by Dwight Heard the backer of the Heard Museum having the foresight to keep such a sustainable legacy of earth for us to enjoy. We not only have the gardens, trees and nature abounding around us, but we also have the likes of Quiessence, the Farm Kitchen, Morning Glory Café, and what cannot not be overly stated, locally created arts, and the truly farm-to-table experience!
