I had my back yard landscaping project handled by Moon Valley after we finished our pool and we are absolutely thrilled with the results -- and actually the entire project and process were great! From my first phone call (which was, fortunately, taken by Store Manager, Nick D'Acre), through the entire process, Nick and the entire team at Moon Valley did a fantastic job! Nick took the time to get to know our style and preferences, from asking about favorite plants and flowers to understanding our favorite artists and style... he took our ideas and turned them into the most spectacular vision we could have dreamed of! Nick managed every aspect of the project wonderfully, from taking that first phone call to the first in-house visit, throughout the discussions on vision and design, then during our visit to the nursery where we picked out all of the plants and trees that we wanted, and then the follow up visit to walk our yard and put flags out to indicate all of the plant locations and finally, then to manage the job site throughout the installation process. At this point we have spent hours together and I can say that he is a fabulous person, hard worker and thorough manager of all detailsf. He obviously knows plants and landscape details really well but he's also a fantastic people-person, who represents the company well, connects with his customers and treats his employees great. You can tell that the guys working for him truly enjoy their jobs and respect him. They have a great dynamic among them and while the actual job they had to do at our house was quite miserable, they did a great job of keeping their spirits high and had great attitudes despite numerous challenges our my yard. For starters, we have a giant hill that slopes up in back, so they had to haul everything up the steep slope to put it in place. Then, when it came to planting, it was particularly miserable because the entire yard is hard, dry, rocky clay -- on a slope. With tons of rocks and roots throughout. AND, it was miserably hot during the installation (in early-September) also! They had to dig hundreds of holes in our yard, including 10 giant ones for large trees that we bought (that took HOURS to dig!!!). And considering what an enormous ordeal it was, trying to dig 3' cubic holes in solid rocky clay, the team maintained great attitudes and positivity -- cracking jokes and telling stories to keep themselves entertained while working hard. It was a treat to see how well everyone worked together to get our project done -- which was completed on time and under budget -- but also turned out more beautifully than we could have ever imagined! As Store Manager who oversees every detail of the nursery and store, and who also managed our particular project, I credit Nick for the smashing success that his store, and our project was. He pays attention to the smallest detail and went above and beyond to ensure that everything was just right. He even came back to our house 2 more times in the months after everything was done, and initiated a return and replacement of numerous plants and bushes that weren't thriving. It was also fun to see the pride that the whole crew felt about our project; when they came back to replace those few plants that weren't thriving, they were complimenting us and were smiling and taking pictures -- so pleased to see how it had all turned out. Our yard was the biggest job that they had done so far, and definitely the hardest project they had ever worked on, so it was fun and rewarding for them to see the fruits of their labor. Not to mention, the transformation was spectacular! We previously had an entire empty slope of disgusting orange clay, before, and now we have a spectacular hillside full of hundreds of flowering perennials, screen trees and specimin focal points -- a haven for birds, butterflies, bees and people! I suggest that you get 3+ estimates first, and then give Nick a call! I found that his prices were comparable to (the) other (5!) companies that I called, but I got HUNDREDS more plants with Moon Valley than others offered, with better warranties, service, and guarantees! Nick is absolutely the best thing that ever happened to that store, and you'll be so happy if he's able to take your call and provide you the exceptional experience that we had. If I could give Nick 10 stars, I would. 5 stars just doesn't even come close to showing how pleased I am with my experience with Nick and his team at Moon Valley. read more
