Stayed Dec 2025 in Nashville In. the Big Easy house was dirty, not recently renovated, had terrible yellow water that smelled terrible and had bare wires showing on light fixtures. I stayed through Airbnb and recieved partial refund. I wrote a review on Airbnb website and it was removed a few days later even tho I followed their review guidelines. I truly don't like leaving reviews like this, but after the way Stephanie handled the situation--and even hung up on me mid-conversation--I feel it's absolutely necessary to share my experience. My friends and I (three young women) planned what was supposed to be a peaceful weekend getaway, but it turned into one of the most stressful travel experiences I've ever had. While the cabin itself was cozy and in a great location, the check-in process was an absolute nightmare. When we arrived, the address provided didn't take us to the correct cabin. We drove around for nearly 30 minutes trying to figure out where we were supposed to go. When we finally found what we thought was our cabin, there were already people staying inside! We had to knock on the door and explain the situation, only to learn that they had also been misled by the same confusing directions. The cabin had no house number, no signage, and both cabins were left completely unlocked--despite our reservation email stating there would be a lockbox code. The other guests told us both cabins had been unlocked all day. When we entered ours, we found unmade beds, dirty dishes, used towels, and blankets on the floor. It was unacceptable and honestly unsafe--thankfully we were three women traveling together, but this could have ended in a completely different scenario. We had no cell service that night, so we called the rental company first thing the next morning. The weekend staff told us to call back on Monday to discuss compensation. When we did, they only offered to refund the cleaning fee. I tried to explain how serious and unsettling the situation was, but they didn't seem to care. When I finally spoke with Stephanie, who claimed to be the manager, she handled the situation in the most unprofessional and dismissive way possible. She talked over me, belittled my concerns, told me "If you were really that uneasy, you would have just turned around," and then hung up on me while I was still speaking. Considering I had driven over 2.5 hours and had nowhere else to go, that response was incredibly rude and uncalled for. The lack of communication, safety measures, and professionalism from this company is appalling. The fact that the cabins were left unlocked and accessible to anyone is a serious security concern. I would never recommend Moondance Cabin Rentals to anyone. Their negligence and disrespectful customer service completely ruined what should have been a relaxing weekend. read more

Hello everyone I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas I did until we received these pics from Moondance vacation homes saying they needed $100.00 more dollars on top of the $91.00 we already paid because they had to deep clean because of the mess we made. You guys see the pics right !!! My family and I have been staying with them for the last 5 years I started a tradition with my children and grands so we can always be together and they love it but for some reason I don't think these people like having us there . We always clean the cabins I promise we do and anyone that know me know that I am a neat freak 2 years ago they did the same thing to us they tried to charge us saying we left a tag from a pair of pants on the floor and a napkin on the bed , I guess the cleaning person doesn't want to do anything but these pics do not call for a deep clean I would hope you would clean it well anyways we were there for 4 whole days . I feel like they are being racist I don't know the lady name in the office but she was very mean to us when we called and we also stayed there in the summer and she said well I own this cabin and you all always leave the cabins messy and that really made me mad because she was lying again ! My feelings are really hurt I feel like they don't want us there she even said your dog hiked it's leg up and peed on the wall a few times and that's not true I said do you have cameras in the house because that's illegal she said no we just know the dog did that !!! I'm so confused guys they really made us feel unwanted and if that's the case they should say so not send pics of ridiculous small things saying they want more money now I have to figure out something else for me and my family to do because they want to break our tradition . Read the fine print or obtain travel insurance. I accidentally cancelled the trip through the Air BNB app but host refused to reissue. He actually rebooked the property for teh same dates and didn't lose anything! But I lost $300. He refused to offer a future booking at the same property. He did offer 2 other properties that were not as close to Nashville but then KY declared a state of emergency for upcoming storms so I could not leave. Just not that this property owener / host is not flexible. read more

My husband & I, along with our little fur baby, stayed at Deer Dance vacation home. The word "home" is exactly how it felt providing all the amenities and comforts of home! The coffee bar was our morning favorite. The swing on the deck provided all the peace and quiet to enjoy our brew and start the day listening to the birds and catching a glimpse of deer running through the woods. In the evening, the games & pool table provide relaxing entertainment after a busy day of exploring Nashville Indiana shops/restaurants. I recently stayed in Nashville IN at one of Moondance vacation rental properties right in the heart of downtown Nashville. While the location was EXCELLENT, that is where it stopped. When we checked into the air bnb, upon checking around the unit, we noticed it was dirty. There was garbage on the floors, the tables were covered in sticky stuff. The carpet was completely stained. The floor needed to be vacuumed. There were dead bugs in the bedrooms and the kitchen that hasn't been vacuumed up. There was a half inch of dust on the window sills. The beds were the worst. One of the comforters had blood on it. The pillow cases were dirty and they were covered in a white liquid substance- I was praying it was saliva because the other option is too gross to even think about. On top of all that, there was a loud humming in the unit bedrooms. The sheets were not on one of the beds and we were told that "the housekeepers were in their mid 50s and they couldn't reach up to do it" We complained about the cleanliness and they sent someone out to rectify, but we had to wait for him to get there and this is the last thing we wanted to deal with when all we wanted to do after a long drive was to relax. He even seemed annoyed with us like we were complaining about nothing. The customer service is awful. When asking for a partial refund - at least on the cleaning fee since the unit was so dirty, they told us no. We wanted to work with them to come to an acceptable solution for this inconvenience. We wanted to be able to write a positive review about how it was was dirty but that they made it right. Instead, they accused my mom of bribing them for a positive review. That wasn't the intent at all, we wanted to give them a chance to make it right. And now we are getting accused of bribery? Don't stay here. read more

Stayed at Deer Dance Cabin this week. This property is amazing. It was extremely clean and the pictures just don't do it justice. Water pressure and heat was amazing. Heating and cooling was excellent. Deck and screened in porch came in very handy. Great scenery. Hot tub was very well maintained. Overall 6 stars. Will definitely be staying again. Planning a trip to the deer dance in July as I type this. P.S-don't let the driveway scare you. Steady gas and momentum and it's easy as pie. (I drive a fwd Toyota sedan) read more

The Farm was amazing!! We stayed for the second time at this rental. It was well equipped for 14 of us!! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals, the hot tub was great, along with the property itself! Only a 10 minute drive into Nashville. Any questions we had in preparing for our stay were answered quickly by the host. We are already planning our third annual trip back here!! read more

Our "relaxing" weekend at Dogwood Hills turned into a complete nightmare when we discovered a bat on the second night (Saturday night) of our 3 night stay. When we called Moondance after finding it, we were told to catch it ourselves with a pool net because there was nothing they could do about it until Monday. The bat landed about 15 to 20 feet high so that would have been impossible. We had to call an animal removal company to send someone out to help us since Moondance refused to. We paid quite a bit of money because we had no choice. We tried to call Moondance several times before having them come out, but no one would answer the phone again. The technician who removed the bat said that there was a bat colony likely in the fireplace/chimney and confirmed with us a couple days later that when he left, he could hear them in that area when he left the property. The next day, the owner of Moondance and the owners of the property both refused to speak with us and refused to refund us for any part of the cost of the removal. We were so disappointed with the way this was handled. The company goes to great lengths to make your stay comfortable, but apparently when there is an emergency, you are on your own. Why would an owner not have wanted to check in with us after something like that? We found the contact person answering the phone that weekend to be somewhat abrasive and unhelpful. I realize we woke her up so I can understand not being in a great mood in the middle of the night, but her tone was the same the other times we spoke with her that day. She continued to indicate that we must have left the door open and let the bat in and referred to what the bat removal technician said as "speculation" that was "unhelpful." However, we are more inclined to listen to someone who removes bats from homes on a nightly basis over someone who thought it was acceptable to advise us to remove it ourselves with a pool net. Later on Sunday night, we heard the bats in the fireplace and decided we were done. Our kids were terrified and we couldn't risk having the same experience we had had the night before. We packed up and left the property around 1 am, driving through the night and getting home almost 3 hours later. The next day, the agency owner FINALLY called us back, after continuously requesting to speak with him, and we were told that if we couldn't catch the bat, we should have just gone to bed with the bedroom doors shut and towels under the door. We find this to be completely unacceptable and unsafe. We told him that the technician said there was likely a bat colony within the structure of the home, and the owner told us that they had never had a problem with bats there before and it was in the country and these things happen. This may be true, but it is certainly not our fault that the property currently has a bat colony living within its structure and that one of the bats made its way into the living space. Moondance clearly does not want to take any responsibility for what is going on with the property, and we felt he did not take us seriously when we told him there was a bat colony in the structure of the home. We feel it would be dangerous to stay at Dogwood Hills and it is unbelievable that they would continue to rent out the property without addressing this. Bats will continue to enter the living space until they start taking this seriously. We loved this property when we stayed last year, and with all the care they take in making everything just perfect, it is truly disappointing that this was handled so poorly. It is completely unacceptable and unreasonable to expect anyone to spend the night in a home with a known bat in the living space or to expect them to remove a wild animal themselves. We did what was instructed in the guestbook, which was to call them, but they did not follow through on their part and remove it. We won't be staying at Dogwood Hills again, nor do we feel comfortable ever staying at any of Moondance's other properties because they simply cannot be trusted to do the right thing. read more

For the past five years, our family has used Moondance Vacation Home to book a cabin around Christmas time. We always abide by the rules, pay on time, and go above and beyond to clean the place beyond what would be expected from a normal stay (my mom is a cleaning lady so she always ensures the place is up to par). This past year, we were charged an extra $250 because we left a bathroom trash can full on accident, left two socks in the bedroom, and had some stickiness on the kitchen floor from a trash bag we did not know what leaking when we left. The company sent me pictures and I was shocked at how minimal the issues we left behind were. They failed to mention that we scrubbed down the kitchen since we had made four meals in it, vacuumed the floors and rug, and ensured all dishes were cleaned (none of which were needed for check out procedures). Thinking we had a good relationship with the company because of our prior bookings, I offered to see if we could pay a lesser fee as I apologized for what was left behind but did not think $250 was warranted. There was no negotiation. I'm not sure if they have new management or if this cabin in particular was starting to feel ran down with stains on most of the carpets so they tried to use any excuse they could to charge more. Just BEWARE that since they have your card you are at their mercy. The are not willing to be reasonable and they clearly don't appreciate continued business or guests that go above and beyond to ensure the space is maintained. We won't be making a reservation with them again. read more

We just arrived home after staying 5 nights at Brown County Log Cabin in Nashville, Indiana. I don't even know where to start. This was advertised as a comfortable cabin with a great kitchen. Ah... not so much. A few hours after settling in, we discovered the following: There was no toilet seat cover in the master bedroom. There was no hot water in the kitchen. We had to keep boiling water in the microwave to we could wash dishes the morning we left as they insist that all dishes be washed and put away before departure. NOTE: The day of departure we discovered the hot water was turned off under the sink. It would've been nice to know that during our stay. Every time we left the cabin, we could not lock the front door. We went into Nashville and voiced our concerns with the Moondance Rentals office and were told to pull the door towards us as the deadbolt was finicky and had to be lined up exactly in order to lock. The four of us tried daily to lock it. After trying for 20 minutes each day, we would just leave it unlocked. We weren't comfortable doing that with our laptops left inside but we had no other choice. The furniture in this cabin needs to be replaced. The sofa in the living room belongs in the city dump. Not only was it uncomfortable but it was dirty and had decaying food under the cushions. It was simply gross. The two bedrooms were dusty and dirty. The master bedroom had cobwebs everywhere while the second bedroom had so much dust and dirt behind the bed, you could grow something back there. They also really need to mow the immediate area around the cabin. It was overgrown and every time we had to walk in the grass we experienced bug bites. Upon departure, we went to vacuum the floors. The vacuum cleaner was clogged. We spent 20 minutes pulling clumps of dirt filled with popcorn and other debris from the nozzle. We realized why this cabin was so dirty upon arrival. If this is the vacuum cleaner the cleaning crew used, then it explained a lot. Also, the kitchen was very ill equipped. We've stayed at many vacation rentals over the years and the kitchens have everything we need for cooking and food storage. This one had nothing. We had to make a trip to the Dollar General Store to purchase storage bags, storage containers, aluminum foil and plastic wrap. Again, we asked at the Moondance Rental office and we're told that not all rentals supply those things. They really need to make this clear so guests arrive with these items in tow. We even had to get a box of Kleenex from the rental office as none was supplied in the cabin. We obviously will never rent from Moondance rentals again. And hopefully, we can help others from renting from this company and throwing their hard earned money down a toilet with no lid! read more

Scheduled a trip on March 30 to April 1 in 2020. Government shut down for stay at home order occurred on March 24 to April 7 in 2020. They will not assist us with rescheduling this trip. Very poor in communication and I had to reach out many times to try and get the Manager to even speak to me. They said they were essential and were open. All unnecessary travel was suspended for everything. A vacation for 2 days is NOT an essential travel. We as employees paid for this trip for our bosses and are very sad that we worked with this company. Would NOT recommend them. read more

We recently had 4 ladies stay for a girls getaway at the 1840 stagecoach house in Nashville. The house was super cute and clean and we enjoyed to history books and pictures of the house. The place was clean and had plenty of room for the 4 of us. It's located super close to downtown so we enjoyed that we could just walk to the shops and restaurants. The house was recently renovated and is nicely decorated. A few things that should be looked into....The freezer wont stay shut so you cant have ice or keep anything frozen. Not good when its 100 degrees out. We thought it was a ghost at first but now we are pretty sure you just need a new one. There are only 5 local PBS channels so we used HULU and Netflix. The 2nd day it asked for a password to use it. We contacted the Moondance but no one knew the password so we didn't have TV the remainder of our stay. TV Instructions and passwords written down would be great to have. Also, the tornado alarm went off twice during our stay. There were no instructions on the safest location in the house and the basement door has a padlock so instructions on where to go would be nice. There are weeds growing along the railing out front over 4 foot tall and there are trees growing in the gutters. We probably wouldn't have noticed the gutters if it weren't for the 8 hours of rainfall. The rain and hail were running down the windows because the gutters were full and it was very loud. There is a wasp nest in the siding of the hot tub so we didn't use it much because we are all scared of flying stinging things. Really the house needs a full day of maintenance. None of these issues outweighed the good things on our trip and we had a great time. I can see how a group of crabby people could pick all these issues apart and ruin their time. I would recommend Moondance rentals and will definitely stay again. They were very friendly and sent us messages making sure we knew of the flash floods and really went out of their way to be friendly. These things make a difference. We stayed at the Meadow Valley Cabin. The cabin is in a great location - in the country but very close to Nashville. Great view of a horse farm and hills across the street. Quite picturesque. The set up is also nice. It's a two-story cabin with a new house attached to it. The bedrooms are spread out and you never feel like you're on top of one another. The hot tub is also very nice. There were some negatives though. First, it was my wife, our adolescent son, and myself who stayed. The property lists for $250/night and boasts 3 king beds. It turns out that we were charged $30 for our son. It isn't readily clear on the the description that there is an upcharge for a third person. It caught us by surprise. I guess what really makes that a slap in the face is that we can't figure out where that extra money goes because, brother, it ain't to clean the place. At first blush, it looked really clean. But as the two days went on, we found some nastiness. There were lots of dead bugs ... lots. I know, we were in the country. But we would found several -- and the numbers grew while were there. Many wasps and a couple of cockroaches. Also, the upstairs shower had a wad of female hair stuck in the drain. That's the sort of thing that should be caught by a cleaning crew. Finally, I went to make coffee and noticed that the coffee was damp. It was indeed damp ... and had mold growing in it. (See picture). That is inexcusable. The one things that should be checked in the kitchen is the coffee maker -- and it should certainly be checked before it has time to grow mold. That is just the sort of thing that makes you wonder about how well everything else was cleaned. I would put the cabin middle of the road (2.5 Stars would be most accurate). Nice setup and great location. But for $280, we shouldn't have to worry about cleanliness. read more

Booked this unit for Father's Day weekend 2022. Eric communicated very effectively prior to check-in, which was effortless....the unit was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the location was perfect. Now for the downside- the room was notably smaller than a traditional hotel room (yet pricier) with no access to ice, no mini-fridge, no microwave and low-end/poor-quality towels. There was dark green paint on the bathroom floor, an incomplete drywall patch on the bathroom wall, random screws in the walls, a spongy, deteriorating, vanity with almost no counter space....also, nothing to put bath products (shampoo, body wash, etc.) on while showering....(had to place them on the shower floor). The shower curtain was the cheapest, most flimsy type available. In the bedroom- the curtain rod was teetering on the edge of the fixture and about to fall, the curtains did not prevent light from pouring in, bright and early each morning (no sleeping in), the mini-blinds on the entry door were broken, there was no trash can in the bedroom and no "in-unit" temperature control available. Think twice before picking this unit- there are definitely pros and cons- personally, we would not book this unit again. read more

The Wayside Cottage was nothing like the website showed. The furniture was dirty, stained ceiling in living room, curtains broke, tore and stained, green water and dirty hot tub, broken and extremely weathered outdoor furniture, chipped paint on walls, dirty cabinets. We asked for a refund and they refused. We booked another cabin through a different company and was out of there within hours of arriving. See photos of what it really looks like below. May 2022. Called them to discuss this and they told me they weren't interested and to post, so here It is. Maybe you can use the money that you refused to refund me to fix up the place. Wish I would have read these reviews before booking with Moondance. Lesson learned. We stayed at their rental called The Farm. The house is in poor condition and very outdated. The internet did not work. We called the office and the problem was never resolved. The kitchen table chairs had broken arms and backs. The photos online do NOT match what was actually in the house. The refrigerator was rusted and the burners on the stove partially worked. The oven did get warm but not hot. The Christmas tree in the living room was a nice touch for the end of January. A lot of fabreeze sort of masked the old musty/dirty smell of the home. There was one plus. The hot tub worked. We also would like to find a good rental company in the brown county area. It's too bad this will not be the one. read more

I want to start this review by saying I love Moondance. I have stayed in most of their cabins, and loved them all. This review is for the big sky cabin specifically. The entire cabin is gorgeous. I was told by the maintenance man that it was originally built as someone's residence. As a result, the entire place is of better quality than you'd expect to find in a rental cabin. The counters are nice granite, the fixtures are all high quality. The floor plan is very open, which makes the cabin feel even bigger than it really is. There is a super comfy sectional in the living area. And the kitchen is amazing. A huge sink and top of the line appliances are just a few of the things we enjoyed. It's big enough for several people to use at once. And between the dining table and counter, there are enough seats for 10 people. The basement is probably where you will spend your time. There is a pool table, ping pong, and an air hockey table. But the best part is the bar. Complete with fridge and sink, it is really very nice. There is a tv behind the bar as well as one on the opposite wall. There is also a bedroom with king bed and bathroom downstairs. The master suite is lovely. The king bed has a comforter on it that feels like a cloud. The master bath has a shower with a waterfall head, a handheld sprayer, and side jets. There is also a door to the patio in the master bath. This comes in super handy because you can get out of the hot tub and go right back into the bathroom to change. Both of the upstairs bedrooms have two queen beds in them. There is also a loft with a leather sofa and a pub table. There is a full bathroom upstairs as well. I could go on about this place for days, but it still won't do it justice. So go see for yourself. read more

We picked Moondance for an anniversary weekend getaway out in Brown County. We stayed in the Rancho Valle house, which was absolutely perfect for the two of us but could also accommodate a much larger group. This house had 4 bedrooms, and they have other properties that are even larger. While I can only speak for Rancho Valle, I imagine the other properties are just as immaculate. This house provided an excellent view across 3 small lakes and into a valley overlooking part of the Yellowwood state forest. This view was accessible all throughout the house, as well as from the jacuzzi outside and the 2 patios. The jacuzzi and pool table were great amenities to have, and were both top quality (rather than the cheapest brand just to get something in place and say that they have it like some rentals). The house was in close proximity to Nashville, Indiana for shopping (about 10 minutes away), Brown County state park, and Yellowwood state forest for plenty of outdoor activities. Doug at Moondance was great to work with. In all, everything about this stay was perfect. The house was gorgeous, clean, and the location and views were great. If you are looking for a good getaway and want to try Brown County, give this home a shot. We will be going back! My husband and I had a great time at the wayside cottage! Very quiet and relaxing getaway! The hot tub was nice to soak in under the stars and we loved all the sounds of the different birds. The queen size bed was on the smaller side but they were very comfortable. Just a 10 minute drive from Nashville. We will be returning in the fall! read more

The worst experience and worst customer service ever! We stayed at birdsong and booked with moondance. At arrival the place looks amazing, very cool place. We overlooked the dead bugs on the window sills and cobwebs everywhere at first because the place was visually impressive inside and out. We quickly decided that the beds were very small and uncomfortable but we could live with that. Then my wife goes to take a bath and finds used towels and trash next to the tub. That's disgusting and after a closer look there was mice droppings all around in bathroom. Ok, not ideal but again we let that go but wondered why we are paying $75 cleaning fee when there are bugs in the windows cobwebs everywhere mice droppings and dirty towels and trash not picked up and especially during COVID-19 times. The 2nd night was the kicker, my wife gets stung by a wasp while watching tv in the living room area! Ok, we are in the country so maybe one flew in but as I'm putting ice on her swollen ankle I see another one. After killing 2 wasps we starting looking up at the ceiling and we find not 1 or 2 but 6 wasp nests INSIDE the house! Due to my wife being scared of being stung again she spent the rest of the night in the bedroom, not the fun relaxing time we paid big money for. So there is no phone service there either, we had to sign up on the Wi-Fi and communicate that way so since I could not call Moondance and report all these problems which I did try to do, I emailed them and it took them a day to get back with me. Their response was very rude, they said it's in my rental agreement and the welcome packet that we may encounter "critters" and this house is in a country setting so we should expect this but if we would've called the number right away that they would've semy somebody out. Well Moondance when your phone doesn't get service in that area then how was I supposed to call? Anyway, if they think having 6 wasp nests inside the house is just something we should've expect because were in a country setting they have another thing coming. You just can't make this stuff up! Incase they thought I was , I took pictures of everything and even sent them to moondance but never got a response. If your one of the lucky ones that haven't had a problem with moondance then consider yourself lucky for sure! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Deer Dance cabin. Fabulous cabin and location! VERY clean, and uniquely decorated. Spent most of our time on the wrap around deck. The deer that visited us, were actually dancing! Have never seen anything like it! The only complaint would be that we paid $50 in advance for wood to be delivered prior to our arrival. We received the wood-all 17 pieces of it! Would have been cheaper to buy the bundles at IGA. Lesson learned. We will definitely return next year! read more

I booked a cabin for my boyfriend's birthday weekend; April 23rd to the 26th. Needless to say, with the travel ban due to COVID 19 we are unable to travel to southern Indiana. I called multiple times to check and re-check their policy on refunds for something like this. I was told I could choose to re-schedule, or cancel. To cancel I would still be out my 50$ deposit, but if I reschedule I won't. I should have read the reviews on here before choosing this company, obviously. If I want to just spend time in the woods, with no option to eat out, go shopping or do anything of interest other than hike, I will go pitch a tent. Brown county is known for great restaurants, art galleries, state parks and the such; which is a large part of why we chose to go there. Plus the fact, it was specifically for HIS BIRTHDAY, a trip planned with his son to celebrate. I would not reccomend Moondance, ever. And, to top it off one of the employees was rude when I called to inquire about their refund policy. Any other time, if I cancel a reservation I expect to lose a deposit, but when the Governor orders us to stay home? Come on. In my opinion, just bad business and poor customer service. Word of mouth is the best or worst advertising any place can get, maybe they should remember that next time something like this happens. read more

We booked this cabin for my birthday weekend. The governor issued a stay at home order due to covid-19 so our trip was cancelled by the governor, not us! We notified them with more than enough notice, yet they still refused to refund our deposit, even knowing that we are not allowed by order of the governor to take this non essential trip. They should be ashamed of themselves, taking financial advantage of people during a national epidemic! What kind of people would do this? read more

We have stayed at three cabins through this company and they've always been very nice and clean. Daffodil Hill - great location less than 5 minutes from downtown Nashville. Only thing was that only one jet worked in the hot tub. We've also stayed at Soaring Eagle- also beautiful right on Lake Lemon but a bit of a drive to town and kind of a scary driveway. If I could give 0 stars I would have done it! Let's start by saying we stayed at the soaring eagles cabin, which you better strap on your boots cause it's a roller coaster ride just to get to the house. You have to go down two steep hills of mud and gravel! Then they try to say to park at the top and walk down 50 steps?!?!? Really?!? I have an elderly mother that was SUPPOSED yes I said SUPPOSED to come. Due to the driving conditions of the roads to even get there, we advised our family NOT to come. Now I haven't even walked in yet! ONCE INSIDE These properties DO NOT have proper routine maintenance. It smells really old when you walk in. There are dead bugs meeting and greeting you. The hot tub has 4" of sludge on the bottom. Oh and let's not forget the grill that we were supposed to use for the family bbq! It was dirty and rusted and you should be dead or need a tetanus shot! When I called to complain the lady stated she had just been there two weeks ago and used the grill so she didn't understand. Lady that rust bucket of a grill hadn't been used in a year. Thank god you are still living if you used it! So since grilling was out of the question we microwaved some rice...well it was in the microwave for 25 minutes and it was only luke warm! The oven got warm but never hot! The next morning we decided to leave a day early since our family could not come due to the drive way and grill. As we were packing it started down pouring rain and we knew we were stuck. After calling the office because she promised to get us out if we got stuck, she said she can't get a Hold of anyone and you guys are there until tomorrow anyway! Hell no! I'm going home right now... Away from this wrong turn movie situation. Needless to say a HUGE tow truck and $160 later we were pulled out of the bottom less pit driveway! My suggestion to you is stay away. These people do not give a damn about you or your safety! On top of that when we called to complain and asked for some type of compensation back,( because of our early departure due to extremely poor conditions of the property and house,) the lady on the phone was extremely rude, unsympathetic, raised her voice to us, then hung up on us. NEVER EVER STAY AT THE SOARING EAGLE CABIN. If you're going to charge people that type of money the condition of the property needed to be updated and suitable for 2017. read more

Drove up to a lovely cottage called Paradise View in the winter. There was snow covering the path to the door. A little slippery and wet. After a phone call to the rental service, someone came out to shovel and look at the ice maker which they had already known was broken. It wasn't fixed. The home was very spacious. Large living room/dining room/kitchen. 4 bedrooms that were comfortable. Enough bathrooms to make everyone happy. BUT....... there was mold all over the walls in the hallway upstairs. We ate in one night but when using the oven the rack inside the oven didn't fit the over so our meal fell!!! The woodwork on the cabinets needed repair....pieces were off. There were cobwebs in the window/door frames. We had no access to the tv!!!! There was a fireplace but we couldn't get it to light (which would have been nice when the winter storm knocked out the electricity and we had no heat). No flashlights or candles were found. Being out in the woods, we had no window treatments. The home needed so many updates. It was a lovely location though. read more

Rented two houses for a weekend family celebration. Our rental experience was a disaster. House 1 - Loretta Rented this large house as the primary family location, we were all especially excited about the large hot tub. Arrived and it looked like the thing hadn't been cleaned in weeks. It was empty of water, covered in dirt and leaves, and broken. Called immediately to have it fixed, and no one showed up for a day (apparently the heat was out in another house and needed repair. Hey - at least our heat was working). The thing was still not fixed by the time we left on Sunday. The house also had a ladybug infestation issue. Not a huge problem, as we were in a forested area and you have to expect these things, but somewhat gross to find them on the pillows when you woke up. House 2 - Sunset This was our TRUE nightmare. The house was at the top of a very steep mud driveway covered with leaves and potholes. Thanks goodness it didn't rain - I'm not sure we would have been able to get to the house with the car. The WiFi was not working, the gas in the house for the fireplaces wasn't working, the remotes to the TV weren't working, 2 of the 3 mattresses in the rooms were so bad we could barely sleep on them, there was no soap for the shower, and last, but certainly not least, the basement bedroom flooded, soaking our things. The poor repair guy came directly from the broken hot tub in Loretta to fix the flood. Said it was the 3rd time in a month this had happened. That repair guy deserves a major raise, as it appears he's the only one to deal with all the regular problems that arise from Moondance cabins. Soaps, towels, and quality of linens reminded me of a hostel. It's clear this rental group is just about making money on the least amount of investment. With all the issues, they finally agreed to a 14% discount on the rental of the homes (oh - and a 10% discount on future rentals - as if that will EVER happen). As a regular vacation home renter, this was an unacceptable situation - both from the accommodations provided to the tiny discount remedy. We will NEVER rent from Moondance again, and this post serves as my civic duty to anyone else considering renting from them. DON'T DO IT. read more

So, we arrived around three at our cabin, SongBird for New Year's Eve and started to check it over. The hot tub had 3-4" thick long strands of algae coming out of the jets, filter was absolutely covered, and the return was just all green/brown with algae. The management did immediately send someone to look; they left after stating they didn't bring the pump. So, we waited and waited. No call or follow-up. I spoke to Eric and he stated it's NYE and I'm not having someone working on it tonight. They'll be there tomorrow. The man came around 10 and had it filled and "cleaned" by 11:30 a.m. Stated it should be warm in three hrs at 30 degrees winter temp outside. The hot tub finally reached 102 at 11:15 p.m. on the last night. Needless to say, we could have stayed at our friend's house in the hills of NE Indy for free without a hot tub. Renting this cabin or this company is pointless--as we know from staying in Brown County EVERY NYE --Most things are closed on Jan. 1st. You're in Brown County for New Year's to enjoy a cabin experience. The refund given on the $540/2 night stay for the 2 bedroom was only $150.00...not acceptable. You might want to ask for a map of the "trails" across the street or if they still own it, as it's for sale. The gate to the trails was locked shut. By the way, the "DEPOSIT" is NON-refundable...Not a deposit, but a FEE and it should be listed as a fee not a deposit. Additionally, I now see that they also manage a place that we had problems with last year and also have pics. We were not the people that booked, so we did not get involved with review/complaint. But, the FARM had "lady bugs" everywhere in the upstairs bedrooms where they weren't vacuumed and mold in the bathroom. Plus, many other maintenance issues. read more

Me and my sisters rented HeartStone cabin 9/2012 from Moondance and were so disappointed. We had rented Rancho Valle and a couple of others prior to this and they were always great. Not this one though.... Mouse poop in the silverware drawer, among the dishes, our one roll of paper towels was chewed up by mice. The dish towels were more like rags. Dead bugs in the window sills, BBQ grill unusable, no outside lighting, one of the bedrooms was in the basement... that was a surprise. We would have never booked this knowing one of the bedrooms was in the basement and the sliding glass doors had flimsy locks. Moondance brought a new grill and rigged the umbrella to stay open but didn't address the other issues. Oh wait, they did leave a vacuum I guess for me to vacuum up the mouse poop and the bugs... not happening. We paid for three days but left after two days, I left a message with Moondance but they never contacted me. I sent them a letter and still no contact from them... Never again will I go through Moondance Vacation Rentals. read more

We stayed in the Sunset House over Thanksgiving weekend. For the price we paid, I expected a whole lot more. Here is a list of all the things that were disappointing: 1. The driveway is steep and the leaves looks like they had not been raked all year. This was the first sign of neglect. Read on to see more. 2. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. We were upstairs when we heard my cousin hop into the downstairs and loudly groan. No one got much sleep the whole weekend 3. The middle of the second day we were there, water starting pouring in on the second floor, soaked the rug and nearly ruined some of our things. The poor maintenance guy was apparently running from house to house all weekend because they are all in such bad shape 4. We were excited about the location because we were told it was going to be walking distance from the cabin our family had rented. Turns out we were lied to, this was a 15 minute DRIVE away. 5. It was freezing so we went to turn on the gas fireplace and it was out of gas 6. We were told the wifi had been cut off about a week before we arrived so the owners could save money (no refund was offered) Overall, the place was severely neglected and the rental property seemed to respond only when there was a dire crisis (aka, water dripping all over the carpet from an innocuous leak). Don't waste your time on these properties, they are overpriced and under appreciated by their owners and the rental company. read more

We have stayed with Moondance the past two Novembers celebrating our wedding anniversary and we have reserved the same location already for this year too!! "The Guesthouse" is a comfortable "home away from home" on several wooded acres within just a few minutes from downtown Nashville. One of the very few cabins in the area offering a king size bed - it's a comfortable night's rest! Great size for the 2 of us and would also work well for 2 couples or a family of up to 4. The property has 3 small ponds and walking areas through the woods, wooded view, hot tub & grill on the back deck, fire place and (even with two other rentals on the same property) feels very secluded. Nice to quietly sit in the hot tub and listen to the wildlife or pull in from a day in town to see deer just inside the tree line alongside the driveway. Glad to have this Mini-Gatlinburg Get-away only an hour from home! read more

I reserved the Sweet Spot a good 6 months in advance only to have our reservation canceled 2 weeks before our arrival because they could rent the place to someone else for a longer period. We were offered "The Guest House" in exchange. With only 2 weeks notice, we had to take the other place. It was way outside of downtown Nashville which is where we wanted to be so we had a 2 - 3 mile drive every time we wanted to go to down. The stove went out and we were not able to cook our meals and the dishes were dirty with lipstick on a glass and food stuck to the spatula. We asked for them to make it right and offer a discount on a future stay. Doug was unwilling to make any kind of concession for our horrible stay. NEVER AGAIN would we stay with this company. Customer service is horrible. And we were repeat customers. This was our 3rd stay with this establishment. We've since found a wonderful establishment to stay with every year that offers the warm hospitality you would expect to see. Good riddens to this establishment. They do have a couple of nice properties, but just know that your reservation is never secure and if you encounter any problems, they are not accommodating. Very Sad because we would have been loyal guests to this establishment had they shown an ounce of respect and gratitude for our repeat business. read more

We staid in the Log Inn cabin, not far from Nashville at all. Less than a minute from the CVS. Loved the view and wrap around porch! Kid friendly our children loved the cabin and the hot tub room was AMAZING!! 6 person indoor hot tub room with big windows and skylights! It was the perfect getaway! Big and spacious! Three bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with 2 on the bottom level was a life saver! Stair case is a perfect incline with wide steps, and the massive fireplace is amazing. We had lit it one of the nights and it was beautiful! With Corona we sprayed each room with Lysol and disinfected all surfaces but they had already done so, could smell it when we arrived. The cabin was overall very clean and comfy. They had a baby gate, which came in handing to keep our 3 yr old from going up and down the stairs and box fans in all the closets! Linens and towels where all very clean and plenty of soap and toiletries where supplied in each bathroom, along with plenty of trash bags and dish soap. Fridge had a working ice maker and a new pool table was upstairs that everyone enjoyed during our stay. The cabin is right on the high way up a somewhat steep hill but wasn't a problem cause of the weather was nice for our stay. There are ramps up one side or stairs as well around the cabin. Lots parking spots as well so you can be up supper close to unload. read more

Stayed for Thanksgiving at Paradise view cabin. The cabin was great, Moondance was very prompt to answer any questions I had. Even let me check in a little early so I could get started with my Thanksgiving meal. It was a great place to have a family weekend. TV s , pool table, foosball table , lots of space . Grand Cabin was a Grand disappointment. Filthy hot tub, light bulbs missing EVERYWHERE - over pool table, dining room tables, lamps, closets. Pull chains missing in closets to turn on a light (if there was a lightbulb. Dirty. Bedspreads smell like dog blankets. Very disappointing. This would be a good cabin for a large group ONLY if general housekeeping/maintenance was performed. This is definately NOT worth your money. Go elsewhere. read more

We just stayed at the Big Sky cabin. Never again!!! They called us on our way home and said 2 pillows were missing, vomit was on the mattress pad and it went through the pad into the mattress. We didn't know until later that our granddaughter said that stain were there, when they went to bed. My wife fell because the lantern light was burnout and she didn't see the last step to the hot tub. We looked every where for extra toilet tissues and only found 1 roll. Our credit card was charged an extra $350.00 without checking with us before charging. We didn't know until later that there were dirty socks and rice kristies treats under the beds. Poor housekeeping!!!! They told us that they had a video camera outside taping our comings and goings. read more
