I'm very angry and disappointed with my experience at this salon. I would not recommend coming here if you don't want or like toner. The owner herself did my hair, and right from the start, it was unprofessional. She didn't even put the drape on me--she told me to do it myself. When I specifically told her that I don't like toner and didn't want it, she pushed it on me anyway. Against my better judgment, I ended up letting her do the toner, and it completely ruined the color I had in mind. Instead of the bright blonde I asked for, the toner made my hair look dull, flat, and ashy. It destroyed the existing blonde I had before and left me feeling so disappointed. When I expressed my concerns, she did not care at all. She didn't offer to fix it, add highlights, or do anything to make it right. Her attitude was dismissive, her energy was bad, and the entire experience felt unprofessional. I left feeling frustrated, unheard, and with hair I absolutely hate. I will never return to this salon, and I do not recommend it to anyone. I'm leaving the blonde picture of my highlights that I always have achieved with other stylist with no toner and the dull toner version from my experience at this salon. read more

I recently moved from Atlanta to the Pensacola area and did a lot of research before going to Moonflower Salon. I was walking by one Saturday and popped in to inquire about the salon and if any stylist was experienced in shades of red (if you know you know). My hair is naturally dark brown and now about 50% gray; I've been coloring it red for years! The nice woman at the desk recommended Susan and I booked an appointment. Susan exceeded my expectations! She really listened to what I wanted to achieve as well as replicating the color and highlights from photos (of my own hair from a couple of years earlier). The salon is professional, welcoming, has good prices for top tier work. Susan also gave me a wonderful haircut that was flattering and brought my hair back to life. Also there's no high pressure to purchase products even though they do carry products. Salon is comfortable, upbeat music in the background, beverages are available for clients during the service. Susan did my hair! I am obsessedddd! Blonde is difficult without drying the hair and she nailed it with minimizing damage, and It turned out better than I imagined! (and I had high expectations). I want to preface this review by saying that I have been coloring my hair for 10+ years and have never come out with hair that was so bad that it needed a color correction. This is the one time that has ever happened to me, was at this salon. I am not going to mention any names in this review because I don't want to bash people publicly. However, the stylist I was working with was an apprentice and I expected the appointment to take a long time and maybe not turn out perfectly. What I ended up with was 7-8 hours at the salon and coming out with hair that looked worse than what I came in with. My apprentice stylist was supposed to have a mentor with her who seemed to also be steering her the wrong way with what to do with my hair. I went home and washed my hair and after a few washes about half of it turned an orange color at the ends. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I was offered a rebook free of charge but then told a new appointment couldn't be accommodated for another 3 weeks. I spent one of my very rare days off paying $200 for a service that was not only not what I asked for, but also took twice as long as usual. I was very disappointed that the mentor did not intervene more and help guide the new stylist. I would not go to this salon. The only positive part of this was that the people were very friendly while I was there at the salon. This work was not up to par with other salons in the area. I got a beautiful color correction at a different salon that was miles better than the work done here. ** editing this review to add that just a few hours after I posted this review, the salon is posting photos of my hair on their instagram page and tagging me in them. This happened after I voiced that I was disappointed and upset with the service I received. The hair in those photos has specific lighting and filters which make it look better, and this is immediately following the appointment. I held out for a while trying to figure out where to get my hair done since moving to Pensacola (over two years ago). I was weary about trusting someone but my coworkers assured me Babz knew what she was doing, especially with blondes. They were not wrong, Babz is a magic maker! I am the maid of honor in my sister's wedding next week so the stakes were high for this color and cut and I am beyond obsessed! My hair looks and feels so fresh, I cannot wait for my next appointment with her. The inside of the salon is so cute and chic. From the neon light flower sign to the hot pink furniture, it is such a vibe. The salon is located in downtown right on Palafox, so parking is iffy. I was rudely informed that they do not and they didn't know of ANYONE that did them in Pensacola. Didn't offer their services whatsoever- I probably would have done what they offered but during this "consultation" that wasn't even mentioned. I've had long hair my whole life because I'm boring and predictable, and for the past five years of trimming my hair, I show every hairdresser the same picture. Barb (or Babz according to the website) took one look at it and knew exactly how to deliver. She asked how much I wanted off, and I said no more than 3 inches for the longest layer. Without hesitation, she began and effortlessly gave me the best trim I've had in over a decade. She also easily and genuinely carried on a conversation, and gave me a break from communicating when my social meter depleted after the first 40 minutes. If I were from the area, she would be my go-to stylist. I highly recommend this salon. read more

I had a great experience with Jillian. She definitely knows her craft. Downtown Pensacola has its parking challenges and I'm not comfortable using that parking garage but I lucked out on this day and got a spot close to the shop. Moonflower has a cool atmosphere as do Most Downtown spaces. The lady sitting at the reception desk was rather chilly, unlike Jillian who was warm and friendly. There was a cute little dog wandering around the shop as well. I love dogs so that was not a negative where I'm concerned. I'll definitely go back! read more

I have nothing but good things about this salon! The prices are very reasonable. The entire staff are friendly. The location is downtown, so you have to pay to park, but it is easy to do from an app. I was actually surprised when I called and they were able to fit me in the same day. I have been using the same woman to do my hair for years, so I was nervous to try a new place. I am very thankful I gave them a try! Barb did my hair and she was amazing all around. I went to this salon for the first time yesterday, and I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is very professional but relaxing, and all of the staff was extremely friendly. Jeremy G cut my hair and I am not exaggerating when I say that it is the best cut I have ever received! He really listened to what I wanted before he ever got started, and he even helped me articulate things I was looking for but didn't know how to describe. The time and care he took with my hair made me feel like I was his top priority. And I walked away LOVING my hair! I feel so confident! I have lived in major cities where I have paid a lot of money to get my hair highlighted. From Boston to San Francisco and Seattle. I had NEVER been charged so much as $250 + $30 for a full highlight, trim + root toner in all my life. Thankfully I found a salon that charges $150 for a partial which is the same I paid at my regular salon of 5 years in Washington, and I tip them well and can feel great about it! Also I should add there is nothing special about the technique here that would warrant a $330 cut and color. I don't know what every stylist here charges but I saw Amanda and my roots were not blended like i had wanted so I had to go in a second time...where I was then asked to pay another $30+for extra toner...and I flat out refused...it was so insane and embarrassing for everyone involved. You should want your client to be happy. The last thing you want is to spend that kind of money on such a mediocre highlight dye job. My roots were ashy and my ends were golden blonde. I could not wear my hair up because the root line was not anywhere near blended into the blonde highlights at all. She missed areas all around my face. Literally made no sense how someone could do such an amateur highlight and charge so much! I am so grateful to have found my new salon which always nails my blended blonde on the very first try. Adding additional comment here since owner is not addressing what I have mentioned: When I did come back in to get my hair fixed, Amanda did give me an estimate of how much it would cost to add the root shadow which is what we decided had to be done in order to achieve a blended root which was not blended at all and what i had wanted in the first place. I said "absolutely not paying to have my hair fixed when I have ti spend my own time to be here again" she would have happily taken the additional $ to fix the mistake had I not refused to pay that. She did agree to fix my hair after I told her it would be massively unfair for her to make a customer pay for them to have their hair fixed especially with how much I had paid and what I was promised. You want to leave the salon happy? And after all i had not. She did fix it fine but again the experience as a whole was just super embarrassing for everyone involved and I would never go back with how I was treated and just the general quality of work. I want to add that at other salons i have not necessarily needed a rooted shadow or toner when I have had really good quality placed highlights that were blended professionally, but there is a lack of knowledge of baby lights and blended highlights here. Again it was $250 with 20% tip which i always leave anywhere as my standard so $300 total which would have been $330 all together had I paid for her to fix my hair? I always tip more than 20% when i am super happy but i couldn't here. Again even $250 for a color and trim is absurd!!! I am not leaving this long review to start an argument but merely to warn others of my experience and the lack of knowledge for blondes. I would have been happy paying $250+ to have an excellent hair transformation as I even told the stylist at the beginning of our appt but the fact of the matter it was one of the worst highlights ive had done :/ and there is nothing to really argue with my own experience. I came in for a cut and was taken care of by Babz. I wasn't sure entirely what I wanted or what would look good on me and she knew what to give me - softer long layers that framed the face. Originally was thinking I'd get choppy layers but the softer layers suited me. Jeremy is an absolute star, trust me. He could easily be a top stylist in a high-end NYC salon but here you get him without the pretense or the price tag. Jeremy has that rare combination of expertise in every aspect of styling and the ability to say "you may want to consider..." when he knows from experience that I probably don't want to make too drastic a change and for that I am so very grateful! I have never colored my hair before and came to moonflower salon hoping that they could since they have such reviews. My stylist was Haley. I asked for a silver balayage. My hair was never silver and i understand that that is a hard color to accommodate. However, I was more disappointed that my hair looks nothing like a balayage. I came in and got my hair done twice to get my dark brown hair to the blonde it needed to be which it never reached I might add. I was also charged for two balayages which was not explained to me before I had the appointments and it is not cheap. Instead of a balayage it looks like I just forgot to redye my roots. I spoke to the owner and for some reason she kept repeating herself like I couldn't hear what she was saying which I found to be very rude. I was offered a complimentary but I explained that I did NOT want them to do my hair again and that I did NOT like my hair. I asked if I could be refunded anything and I was denied. Very disappointed in my hair as well as how I was treated by the owner. read more
