I've visited a couple times now and it is a lovely spot near downtown but hideously overpriced. I cannot speak to haircare services but sometimes you just need a fresh eyebrow wax. $25!! Before a tip. Both times now there has been little to none attention to detail (no tweezing or trimming without prompting) The first time she waxed once under each brow- done. Not even in the middle. Will probably select a nearby nail salon next time where a better experience is $9 or less. read more

Went in with partially highlighted light brown hair with my natural blonde roots grown out about 2 inches with the goal of getting back to my natural blonde all over. Jaclyn did an amazing job. I actually think this is the best salon that I have ever been to. I have lived in Los Angeles, Newport Beach, San Diego, Dallas, New Orleans and yet, this salon beats out all of those Meccas of beauty. This Salon was so careful about Covid mitigation as well! I felt completely safe and protected by all of the measures that they are taking here. I used to go to Jaclyn for my blonde balayage and she always did an amazing job. Recently, Jaclyn was booked and I had Megan do my hair and I am so so so impressed. I asked for a more unique balayage and Megan made me feel so great about my hair. I find that so often when i go into a hair salon, the stylist never does exactly what I ask, but Megan did it with absolutely no reservations. Then as I was leaving, it was raining, but there was also a sketchier guy loitering around the building the owner escorted me out to my car with an umbrella to ensure I was comfortable. I have never had anyone do something like that!! As far as price goes, I might be comparing to what I have paid in southern california, but i honestly think Salon San Carlos is so reasonable. I have absolutely no regrets about this salon and plan on trying to get an appointment every time I am in Pensacola from now on! read more

I am a hair junkie, like to do color, crazy and fun and will spend for a good cut that grows out and color that lasts. I will keep looking until I can find that! So I went here because I read the reviews on yelp and it seemed like a good place to try out.. called the place and they had an appt that same day so I booked it. Got there everything was clean and employees were friendly, well anyways get to the girl that's going to cut my hair I asked for a straight cut, not layers just want to cut my split ends off and have a medium length... well about 1 hour later and she is still cutting I'm like okay what's going on she shows me my hair and it looks fine keep in mind it's wet because during that time they could not blow dry so I go home styled it and it looks so uneven just a hot mess chopped everywhere... Such a fan of Self Salon! They were able to graciously get me a same-day appointment when I needed a last minute blowout. Hollyn was my stylist and she did a fantastic job. Pam & Carlos, the owners, found out I was in town looking for housing for my impending move to the area and offered to put me in touch with some of their realtor friends/clients. At checkout, they offered a "new client" goody bag with coupons and a travel size finishing spray which was such a nice treat! The salon itself was clean and spacious. I was offered a drink when I arrived and they had piping hot coffee on hand. My hair is long and very thick and my shampoo, blowout, and style (some loose barrel curls) was only $45, which I found very reasonable (especially since I was able to get in last minute). I decided to get my hair cut on a whim and chose Self Salon. Alma cut my hair and did and amazing job! I knew what I wanted but didn't explain it well and she described exactly how she would cut my hair before getting started so it made me really comfortable. I have been to Salon San Carlos three times, two for a haircut and one for a treatment. I can't recommend Alex Horne enough. She is friendly, knowledgeable, trustworthy, helpful and most importantly, really good at doing hair. I moved here from out of town, and had been seeing the same hair stylist for years. I was nervous to start going to someone new but Alex made me feel super comfortable right off the bat. Remarkable customer service and curls, curls, curls! I went to Pensacola for a business presentation and was referred by to go there by an associate. I have never had a Ouidad experience before as I usually get another type of service for curls. I had a wash then rake and shake. I am a complete convert. I have loose curls and like some volume. Cassie styled my hair and I have never had such curl definition! She said it would be even better if I got a Ouidad cut. The owners introduced themselves and could not have been more gracious. After doing some research on salon options in the area, I decided to go with Salon San Carlos because its reviews were excellent across the board - the best in town! I was not disappointed! Usually over the phone a lot of salons will simply tell you they can't give you an accurate quote through such manner and to come in. Not here, not my experience at least. They offered a number to text a photo to, followed by texting back and forth to find out what I wanted done and offer me a legitimate quote. In the end I still decided to go in that day, to speak to someone and get an accurate quote. It also afforded me the ability to fill out all of the initial paperwork. Hollyn, who I saw for my consultation and who eventually did my work, was extremely friendly and wonderful. We had a nice chat and I finally decided to set up an official appointment for some work (color root touchup, straightening). My appointment was on August 21st. When I arrived, the second I walked through the door I was greeted by name. Though I had only been in one time, I was remembered by face and felt extremely welcomed. Following that, I was offered complimentary drinks during my wait - water, tea, coffee, beer, wine. I chose water as I am monitoring calorie intake/trying to get healthier by losing some weight, but never before have I felt so valued, appreciated, and comfortable in something as seemingly simple as a salon environment. Hollyn did an excellent job on my hair and we held good conversation during the time she was working. My only complaint is that when she stepped away to let the color set I was not given a timeline for her return and she must've been gone 20-30+ minutes total. If I had known I would have asked for my phone back to at least browse the internet (it was in a jacket pocket which they graciously took care of hanging up for me). That said, it's a small thing and nothing I could dock them for as, having had previous color work done, I should have known it'd be a while anyways. She was absolutely lovely to work with and super friendly and amazing. While she was away letting color set, however, I struck up a conversation with a fellow hairdresser who was tidying up in the immediate vicinity, as well as after that was able to observe her with another customer. These people explain what they're doing, why, and give you tips on how to recreate things or maintain them at home. Standard and par for the course, I hear you say, but honestly it's the way they do it. You can tell they really love what they do there. I asked many questions about hair washing, proper use of products, etc (I'm a guy with long hair I'm trying to maintain for the first time.). My questions were answered in a most helpful, detailed manner. I asked about picking up some products they used after my visit had concluded, and went ahead and got the shampoo and conditioner, plus the Smooth product Hollyn used to help protect against humidity. At the front counter whilst paying for my stay and products I was given a new client package including coupons for both myself and others for future visits as well as some cards and even a cup holder or some such mug wrap thing. Also included was a personal letter from the owners of Salon San Carlos. I've never had an experience like that before, and I've been to a few places over the years. And the best part about it? I paid no more than going to any of the other places I've been before. I just got treated a lot better and got exactly what I wanted and felt very comfortable. Now is the time I'll note I have extreme social anxiety, so for me to feel so comfortable and have such a nice time is rare in public. At first the staff was amazing. Very welcoming and great guest services. We were finally happy we found a great new salon. Well this was short lived when Brittany a very nice but very unskilled hair dresser screwed up my daughters hair up so bad we had to go back the next day and have the owner Pam try to fix it. Pam made up every excuse for the mess up from hormones to why the sun rises at 6am!! OMG just admit your employee screwed up!! They never took ownership of the hair disaster but attempted to fix it. . Don't let their nice personalties and over the top friendliness fool you. It is all an act. I feel bad for Regina she does great waxing and if she ever leaves the Self Salon I would follow her. In the few months I was using them they had 2 employees leave. I had my haircut by Austin 3 weeks ago, after a great recommendation. I have a very short haircut and I an extremely particular, because any mistake shows up on my hair. From the moment I entered the Salon, I felt at ease and very welcomed. Austin asked lots of questions so that we can make my first experience enjoyable. Pam and Carlos, both the owners, also made it a point to stop by and introduce themselves while I was getting my cut. I will definitely be back and I plan on taking my daughter so that she can experience the Quidad method haircut for her curly hair. I went to Self salon this past week while visiting Pensacola from DC. Never having visited Pensacola, I went to Self by accident because they are now occupying the former Revolution Salon that had decent Yelp reviews. My experience there was great. I was met by one of the owners at the front desk who gave me a very warm welcome and offered me something to drink right away. My stylist was Brittney, and even though she was a bit late for the appointment (the first of the day), the wait was worth it. Sweet and talented, she was meticulous with my trim and layering. When she was finished, you could tell she was sincere when she asked me if there was anything I wanted changed, I didn't, it was a fantastic cut. Besides for being a great stylist, Brittney was great to talk to, easy-going and engaging. A great deal at $33 for wash, cut and blow dry, I even received a thank you note in the mail when I arrived home in DC.
