The male reception who answered the phone was very sweet and told me that they do and shared their hours with me. Its conveniently located in downtown Champaign and lucky me, I was able to nab one of the few parking spots right in front of the store. I went inside and "checked in" (they only accept walk in appointments for piercings, apparently) and after a 30 min wait was called back by Amber W. She was a thorough professional and very gentle. She removed my piercing with ease and helped me find a new piece to wear. Throughout the whole process she wore gloves and used a tissue to touch things when needed. I was very impressed by the hygiene protocols, and by Amber's calm and kind demeanor. If you're looking to get (or remove) a piercing, I would highly recommend Amber W but do expect a bit of a wait.

She went ahead and pierced her lip, then tried to put the jewelry in, but it didn't go in. The barbell was stuck halfway in her lip. My sister took the needle like a champ, but then Tiffany started trying to push the barbell through with her fingers. It still wouldn't go through, so she decided to take the barbell out and try pushing it through from the inside of her lip. My sister started to sweat and was visibly very uncomfortable. After Tiffany still couldn't get it in, my sister had blood all over her mouth and it was dripping down her chin. Tiffany decided to grab a taper and try to shove that through. I have 20 piercings, and watching this happen made me start to feel dizzy. My sister started to look pale and her hands started to shake. I was the one to ask if she was okay. She said she was dizzy, so I said we should lay her back. Tiffany ignored me multiple times when I said she needed to be laid back, and she was still trying to push the taper through. Finally, she decided she should stop "messing with it." Then my sister started to sweat even more and say how hot she felt. Her eyes started to roll back and she passed out. She was out for about 10 seconds while I had to hold her head and Tiffany held her shoulders so she wouldn't fall out of the chair. All of that could've been avoided if she had been laid back like I had said multiple times. After she woke back up, Tiffany decided she would just re-pierce in the same spot. I said maybe we should do the other side of her lip instead. Instead of asking my sister if that's what she wanted to do, Tiffany just said "no." Nothing about this felt professional. It was honestly traumatic for me and my sister. Then Tiffany basically insisted it could be because of her hormones or because she "ate too much," not because she had been repeatedly stabbed by a barbell and a taper. She was nice for the most part, but this was so unbelievably unprofessional. I have been coming to No Regrets for years and had never experienced anything like this. It's not like my sister doesn't have many piercings--she can handle needles. She has both sides of her nose done and a stretched septum, along with a bunch of ear piercings. Not once has she ever passed out from being pierced. She still paid in full even after all of that. My sister and I will not be returning. Tiffany needs better training or needs to be fired! This was so unbelievably disappointing to witness.

My first tattoo was done by Lunchbox four years ago, I asked for a wind-up magpie, he took some of the images I showed him and made an original drawing for me based on components I liked out of the images I brought and also made it into an image that would hold up well over time. Second time was done by Kannon Ball (Dustin) who no longer works at New Life. Just a small sputnik behind my ear. I just walked in and he was able to do it quickly. Third was my massive back piece, an Alphonse Mucha painting, I originally went to Dustin for it, and requested it be on my side. He suggested I move it to my back so that the image wouldn't get distorted from the placement and having to resize it to fit. He worked on it for awhile before passing on the tall order to the shop owner, Tilt. I greatly appreciated his honesty in saying he was having trouble with the large piece and passing it on to someone with more experience under his belt. It took three and a half hours to do the outlining, and I still dont have it finished because Im still mentally preparing myself for the pain of more back tattooing and the blow to my wallet. But even with just the outline done I've received countless compliments on it, some even saying its the best work they've ever seen. My most recent was done by Michael T Hastings. I had been mulling over getting a shark for about a year, then shortly after breaking up with my boyfriend decided to channel my heart ache into a physical pain with some gain. I walked in ready for something new and he was able to sketch something out and tattoo me before my two hour parking ran out. I showed him two images that I liked and let him know what additional elements to the tattoo I wanted but ultimately was pretty flexible and let him take artistic liberty and add some original details to it. Every experience I've had has been so positive. All of their artists are knowledgable and give great educated, reasonable suggestions to make sure your tattoo looks its best and holds up over time. I always know the next time I want to get a tattoo that I can count on them because of their quality and professionalism. I know Im in good hands with them whenever I go there and that they'll get it done efficiently and beautifully. Anytime someone asks where to get tattooed I always point them in the direction of New Life. I can't wait to have them put another amazing piece of art on me.

I…read morelove tattoos, but I've definitely walked into some shops that, for whatever reason, don't feel comfortable. It might just be the day, or me, or who knows what that causes that feeling, but you want to be comfortable when you get a tattoo (beyond the thousands of needle jabs). Vintage Karma has a great collection of characters with a lot of talent, humor, and Intellect. They're open to chatting or letting you read/zone out/whatever. The shop is accepting of all types of people and accommodating for your needs, whether they involve breaks, snacks, or situating you for the best experience. I have several chronic pain issues, so working around those can be challenging. Note: be prepared---I'm not an incredibly social person, but work from Vintage Karma gets noticed even in places with a high percentage of tattooed people. For example. I was just in New Orleans, and I had people going quite a bit out of their ways to look at and ask about a phoenix/peacock (pea-nix) on my arm from Ainslie and my multitude of works from Caleb.

Not only do I recommend Vintage Karma, I also highly recommend Jaidyn as the artist to work her magic.

It was very obviously out of symmetry. Then, after I requested he redo it, he couldn't get the jewelry out of my nose. He used an instrument and was pulling, jerking and twisting on my nose ring to try to pull it out, because he did not know how to remove a corkscrew nose ring. I stopped him, hooked it and turned it and it came out easily. He then tried to re-pierce it below that piercing, and pulled the needle all the way through my nose, and then tried pushing the SAME nose ring through the fresh piercing, without the needle. All the while, I am sitting impressively still for someone whose nose is being shredded, and he yelled at me to sit still. While he was attempting to shove the jewelry in my nose with his fingers. As I am leaving holding wads of paper towels on my bloody nostril with one hand, holding my debit card with the other, I was prepared to say nothing, and let it go. Then he looks over at me and says "you know, YOU wanted it high up," in the most arrogant tone. I then said, "listen buddy, you ruined my nose, can you just run my card so I can pay and get the F out of here?" He then yells at me, "wow, are you serious?! I have been piercing for 22 years!" And STILL would not take my debit card. I told him I did not care about his ego and that I just wanted to pay and get out, to which he replied "really?!" After my hair turned grey, he finally charged my card. And I ended up having to go back because he left my ID in his scanner, which he also tried to blame me for. Save your nose, do not go
