Meanwhile, I came in with my online pick ready to go (I like to be prepared lol). What began as a "simple" spontaneous idea turned into a 4-carat STUNNING engagement ring replacement. Haha THANKS BABE!! Celebrating 5 years married at Kay Jewelers wasn't exactly on my original wishlist (we usually do dinner), but I'm SO glad I locked eyes with this GORGEOUS piece!! **insert crying emoji** - and HELLO! It was 40% off!!!! Even better! Shopping with Keiko made the entire experience fun and comfortable. She matched our humor, wasn't uptight, wasn't pushy - just genuinely helpful and real. Exactly the kind of person you want assisting you during a special purchase. We walked out buying three pieces: - A new engagement ring - An anniversary ring - A men's studded ring ALL. SO. GORGEOUS! Resizing was needed for all pieces, and everything is expected to return within 2 weeks. So awesome. We also added Kay's lifetime protection/guarantee, which means our stones are covered (chips, breaks, replacements, issues with setting), as well as lifetime resizing on the bands. We're required to bring them in every 6 months for inspection and cleaning, and Keiko said I can even bring my other pieces for cleaning even tho we didn't purchase them there. Cool! Note: this added coverage isn't the same as full loss/theft insurance, but for what we need it's a great value, plus we also have our Homeowners policy. Another positive was the magnified photos of the diamonds & serial numbers. All rings also came with the certificate of authenticity - digital copies have been emailed for safe keeping, along with the physical cards. Loved this! Curious, I entered the spacious, bright, well air-conditioned, tidy shop. I saw clothing by Kini Zamora... he is a designer from Hawaii that was on Project Runway. I thought: i wonder if I can get an outfit? The dresses that I liked weren't in my size... hmmm... I'll look again later... There were some funny stickers... they were sold out. I almost got a cute Power Puff Girl sticker... and Kawaii Supaerman sticker... LOL! I had found…read moreout previously from another appraiser that the diamond I had on my ring was not the same diamond stated on the receipt from a reputable jeweler. Brenda took the time to educate me about my diamond as she is a very knowledgeable and very reputable gemologist in the State. I came to find out that the diamond I actually have is better quality and valued better. She showed me different aspects of looking at a diamond and how to tell if its man made, natural, etc. I have worked in high end jewelery before but this is nothing compared to what she knows having been in the business for years (I told her she has lineage in diamonds) I would highly recommend her as an appraiser if you have jewelry. Unsatisfied with that appraisal, I sent out a search on Yelp and Aunty Erin's replied so quickly. Their communication from the get go was detailed and efficient. When I arrived at their office, it is very streamlined and unfussy, and I liked that, I don't need a lot of fancy flair, I just want a good price and to work with people who are nice and trustworthy. This is a mom & daughter operation and they work so seamlessly together, I was surprised, efficient and heartwarming?! They treat you like family, no joke. Don't be fooled by the current lack of online presence, Aunty Erin has tons of experience AND has 3 different gemology degrees, Aunteh knows her stuff. They also have the prized x-ray machine that can evaluate the composition of gold and metals instantaneously so you can see for YOURSELF exactly what you're working with. She's absolutely clear and transparent about how she works and what you're dealing with. She gave me an EXCELLENT price for my gold, almost twice the value that the other appraiser gave me, who didn't even evaluate the stones? Aaaaaaaaaand, I had a pretty random gold nugget that was about 20 grams. Because it was unusual, and since gold nuggies straight from the earth can contain a lot of quartz, Aunty Erin asked me if it was ok to take the nugget to the assayer to get the exact composition. Tbh, it was a little nerve wracking trusting someone I just met with a 20 gram gold nugget. She asked what she could do to make me comfortable with taking this nugget to the refinery, so we signed a consignment agreement. Let me be clear: I HAVE TRUST ISSUES! I do not trust people easily, this is the only reason I asked for some type of documentation --Aunty Erin did not give off untrustworthy vibes-- it is just me, in this day and age, trust can be hard to build. I was so grateful that she was willing to do anything to put me at ease and so when you have two solid people doing business, building trust is easy. Upon taking the 18k golden nugget, Serra, Aunty Erin's daughter, told me that she would be in communication with me throughout the day about the refinement process and that they should be able to get a check to me by the end of day, latest tomorrow. By the end of day, we had a documented evaluation of the nugget from the assayer and a check in my hand the next day at noon. If you are unsure where to take your valuable pieces for a more than fair price, got to Aunty Erin and Serra, they go above and beyond. Their customer service is exceptional, they treat you with respect and care, they are absolutely transparent and trustworthy and honestly, a delight to work with. I called the number and spoke with Sumita. Once again she was wonderful and allowed for me to make special arrangements in person. I met her at her new location and I couldn't believe how inviting, relaxing and peaceful it was. I am so happy for you to have found such a nice tranquil place to take care of us. Sumita listened to my request and took care of everything very quickly. I was anxious because I had to wait a week ( by choice ) for my wife's special day. Sumita greeted us outside her Spa and you could just feel the positive energy coming from her. It was almost palpable. She led us to the back of her entrance through a heavily planted yard, with fountains and statues. It was so relaxing and peaceful Sumita took my wife inside to enjoy her Sacred Makana Healing. I was allowed to stay in the yard and meditate. I had a nice experience just enjoying her yard. My wife came out shining and smelling wonderful. 3 days later my car still smells great.
