Don't miss this place if you're in town! This was on our list of "to do's" for a recent weekend getaway, but I didn't realize their operating hours were limited. We made a beeline for Moonwink on the Friday afternoon/night that we drove up to Manchester. I literally pulled into their driveway at 4:57P (they close at 5:00P) and held my breath as I walked in the door and asked if we were too late to order food. The owners, a lovely couple who I read about in a newspaper article, assured me I was ok to order food! We were elated! We ordered a few items off their menu and took some of their recommendations. Lucked out when I found this place! Did not expect to find authentic Burmese food in VT! We had the tea leaf salad, dumplings (kind of a cross between a samosa and a dumpling) and a curry chicken bowl. All were amazing with good textures and mix of salty/sour/sweet/spicy. Came here for lunch when I was in the area a couple of months ago. I was surprised to see that there was a Burmese restaurant here, but also ecstatic as I love Burmese food. Turns out, this is the only Burmese restaurant in all of Vermont! I decided to get their tea leaf salad and their veggie tofu curry Burma bowl. I should have taken a picture of the dishes we picked but we immediately started gorging on them once we got them. The aroma when you walk indicates that there's some good eats to be had. Everything looked good and we didn't know what to order so we asked for some advice from the operators of what would be their favorite. We picked the Coconut chicken noodle soup and the Burma Bowl with pork curry. Both were very tasty and brought joy during these dark Covid days. On they way out we added some Burmese wontons and completed our tasty food chapter. We will find ways to go back. I've never had Burmese food before Moonwink, but I can now say that it's freaking delicious. In a town with pretty good food options, especially compared to a lot of other small towns in Vermont, Moonwink brings something completely new to the Manchester area, and boy am I glad they opened. Opened up by locals with deep roots in the area, the food is delicious and interesting. Who ever thought that rice, chicken, and kimchi with some spices would be incredible? Not me! But it is. The food is scrumptious. The prices are reasonable. And the service is delightful. There's no reason not to eat Moonwink at least once, twice, or three times a week. Take your friends. Take your parents. Take strangers. Do whatever you need to do to eat Moonwink. You won't regret it one bit. read more

Had a long and tiring day at Stratton Mountain and we were looking for a dinner spot to cap a perfect day. Moonwink did that perfectly for us. There were four of us and each entree that we had was as good as the other. Perfect balance of spices and taste! I had coconut chicken noodle soup (probably the best khao suey I have ever had) while my friends had the Nan Gyi thok and the Burma bowl (veg and chicken). The tea was fantastic as well! Broke a 3 month quarantine streak of no restaurants with a first meal here. First time trying Burmese. Maybe it was the novelty of having food prepared by someone else for the first time in ages, or the novelty of the food itself, but I doubt it.... I think this was just some of the best food I've had in a restaurant. Such an amazing mix of textures, playing off each other - crunchy and smooth, chewy and soft, and then the flavors, sour, sweet, delicate, powerful. So good. Can you believe there is a legit, authentic Burmese restaurant in Manchester, VT?!? Moonwink is run by a lovely couple (husband grew up in Manchester, wife is Burmese, and they met in NYC). They were so friendly and hospitable. We had the tea leaf salad and mohinga fish stew. Both dishes had incredible flavor. Having traveled to Myanmar earlier this year, the food was spot on!! Great place in downtown Manchester. It can be hard to find a variety of food here but this Burmese place brings the flavor. We had their pork curry with pea shoots and rice, great flavor and tender meat. Their dumplings, I'm not sure what they're called on the menu were clearly freshly fried and we probably could have had another order. They have this spicy red sauce that might have been the highlight, put it on everything you order. Very casual atmosphere, good prices, and a great story behind it being the only Burmese restaurant in VT. 10/10 would come again. read more

Amazing dinner-once again. It's always tough to decide which rice and sprouted peas curry to enjoy. While I love the tofu and vegetables, the chicken curry usually is my choice. But the pork curry is so delicious too. The coconut chicken soup is my favorite soup served in Manchester. The pickled ginger salad is great and our friend loves their Burmese falafel salad. The apps are unique and served their special spicy dip. The meals and soups are huge, so go hungry. Kate and I usually get two meals each from whatever 2 items we get. I'm not a huge Yelp user, and haven't left many reviews in the past, but I'm glad to leave this one. Firstly, the owner was great to speak with. Very friendly, grounded, and easygoing. The food was tremendous. I spent over a month in Burma a few years ago, and I can honestly say that I rarely ate this well! I'm vegetarian so I opted for stuffed Tofu and a Curry Tofu Burma Bowl. WOW. I'm bloated as I write this, but I assure you it was worth it. They had just the right amount of spice, and the sauces were mouth watering. Came here for lunch the other day and it was off the chain! The menu includes salads, rice bowls, noodles, soups and apps. We ordered the Pat Tok Jow, Burmese wontons, and with a nice chili garlic sauce and ate them up real quick. We also enjoyed Nan Gyi Thok, a chicken and noodle dish, that was so fresh and delicious.
