Phyllis is super sweet and we always enjoy our time there. They are also great about being very careful and accommodating for Celiac needs (my partner is highly allergic). Honestly how can people say this is a 4 star. Made the huge mistake to order from here for my kids. It was $89 dollars for two containers of sushi(picture). The sushi was mediocre and the salmon tasted old. If you really want sushi so bad take the extra drive to Bennington. They have the best sushi there and it's not as expensive. Tucked away in the side of a strip mall, is a solid sushi place. Our waitress was super sweet and encouraged my husband to go to the drug store down the block to pick up some beers for our meal. She even provided frosty mugs for the beers. BYOB can be awkward but not here. We shared the sushi boat and it was decent quality sushi. The flavors of the rolls were nice. The food was mediocre, the price wasn't. Worse yet, when I asked for a Yellow Tail [Hamachi] I got a non fresh nondescript fish. Realizing that I got the wrong tail I asked the owner. The pretty rude owner insisted that the nondescript was indeed Hamachi. Sorry - I really know that fish, it is my favorite fish and I know the difference between Hamachi and a fish story. Perhaps I was expecting too much after reading so many very positive reviews of this place, but frankly I was a bit disappointed. It's clear the owner and his wife and some helpers are working their butts off trying to please all their customers and their sushi is good and tasty. However, when I asked for hot tea for a beverage, a lukewarm pot of very weak tea appeared. When I was able to get a server's attention, they made good with a hot pot and fresh tea leaves. After we placed our order, it felt like we waited for a good 20-25 minutes for the food to arrive, and when it did, it was incomplete. Again, minutes passed as we tried to get the attention of a server to tell her about the missing sushi. I cant say this is the best sushi I ever had, but since manchester is a bit limited to sushi I will say its the best sushi in manchester. The fish is fresh but the roll itself needs to be packed a bit tighter since 1 or 2 pieces was falling apart but that's just aesthetics. Okay, so I know this makes NO sense... but it's true, this is some of the best sushi we've ever had. And we've eaten sushi in many many many places over the course of 15+ years now. I must admit to having been a bit nervous as to how Vermont sushi would be, and I'm glad to have been pleasantly (VERY pleasantly) surprised. We have eaten there several times and been happy with absolutely everything, including the service. One small complaint--the price. Probably 1/2 to 1/3 more than we'd spend elsewhere, and no lunch specials or multi-roll plates or anything like that. Food in Manchester in general is pretty overpriced, though, so I guess we're sorta used to it by now. At least this place is really really GOOD for the money. read more

This is a fantastic sushi sashimi find. For a small restaurant in southern Vermont I was suprised and pleased at the freshness and quality of the fish. We were a party of 4, and ordered several roles, 6 sashimi orders (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp). Also 2 appetizers, octopus and spicy seafood. All the seafood and fish were excellent, fresh. Sushi is fresh and simply amazing- many options to choose from too, even if you've got a picky eater in your party (I tend to be picky- not liking avocado or cream cheese in my sushi). But this restaurant accommodates. I recommend the "let it roll" and the "firecracker". Something for everyone and it's all so amazing. The family is very sweet and understanding.
