Great place to hang out for movie nights and other events. Open space with lots of grass to play or just sit and enjoy.

I'm usually on the opposite side of town so this was all new to me. Wow! What a super awesome place! So much space to take a walk or just hang out with family and friends. It's also surrounded by some popular eateries and bars. I look forward to stopping by here again in the summer and fall. It was a bit of a trouble to find free parking but lots of paid parking if you're up for that on the weekdays. There's even a burger joint in the center of this park. I look forward to trying that as well. Overall, a very clean park in a developing part of town.

I'm back in Raleigh and wandered past Moore Square today. Wow, what a difference! I'm impressed! An update and upgrade is overdue. Completion is due this month (August 2019) but it's just about complete now. A cafe (with public bathrooms!), space for a downtown farmers market, space for food trucks, a splash pad and brand new even and smooth sidewalks. The Parks department has done a great job of upgrading the square to handle the local festivals and concerts. Hopefully that works helps the square avoid the sort of damage that thousands of people will cause. Moore Square is one of four public spaces planned for Raleigh as early as the late 1700s but only Moore and Nash Square remain. The land is owned by the State of North Carolina but is leased to the city. I'm really pleased. Well done, Raleigh Parks Department! [Review 11619 overall, Round number 1400 of 2019.]

Love coming to Moore square for Friday night movies with the wife and our puppy, very nice family environment with lots of vendors to all around and browse or make a purchase. Great way to spend a Friday night!

The space is well planned out. The renovation was much needed as it is located across the street from Marbles and other popular dinning locations. The space is great, there are monthly activities for visitors to enjoy, foam blocks for kids to play with, a piano to play, lots of seating, a cart full of board games and Square Burger is located inside. The only issue which is a problem in DTR, are the number of transients. The worker at the stand was trying to negotiate with a man who had been in the bathroom over an hour- doing what? I can only guess. There are lots of families and safety needs to be a priority. I hope they can keep the space clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.

I have to admit, I don't love the new Moore Square. It feels empty and like it is missing character from the previous version. However, the truth is that it was a really cloudy day when I visited and the park was mostly empty, except for a few homeless folks and people walking their dogs. It feels like some of the old trees are gone. It is definitely more open.

This is a pretty nice park to walk around, kids can enjoy riding their bikes or scooters. We were visiting the kids museum across the street and got to have a picnic at this park.

The wide paths are lined with tables and chairs, there's a small amphitheater, and we found clean public restrooms behind Square Burger.

The garden was officially dedicated in 1951 and remains one of three accredited rose gardens in North Carolina. The area has a fascinating history. The sunken, oval-shaped space was a dirt race track back when the NC Fairgrounds was located there. Then, during World War I, the space was converted into a training ground for Camp Polk's combat tanks. The racehorse track and the combat tank training trench were reimagined into the space we get to enjoy today. The mud hole was drained, and the land was reshaped by volunteers. The tier-terraces were a way to keep the water from washing away the future flowers. The amphitheater was constructed first, and it took years for the rose garden, as there was no budget for it during World War II. Nurseries, community garden clubs and even private individuals donated the rose bushes and native trees, Normally, there is a free parking lot, but my visit today had the lot blocked off as a tree brought down power lines. So there was parking available on the streets surrounding the gardens. My visit today was short: it was 97 degrees out, and my phone overheated during my stroll. I realized I might be overheated, too and made my way back into the air conditioning. It is a stunning, historic oasis that is well worth the visit--just remember to bring a cold bottle of water on hot afternoons!
