I had a horrible experience at the laundromat today. I left there not wanting to ever come back,…read morefeeling violated by the employee's tone and her "customer service". Nobody should ever have to experience that. I walked in wanting to wash my duvet. I haven't been to a laundry mat before so I accidentally put my duvet in the dryer. I noticed instantly and asked the employee Maron (I believe that was her name and was about 60) if I could get my dollar back since I noticed right away. She said "no it doesn't work that way." I then asked if I could be refunded through the till since it was an accident and she said "no that will mess up the till." I then said I don't have anymore loonies and she responded with, "well there's nothing I can do about that." She was snarky when I asked which one was the washer and pointed and said "uh that one". The washer ended up costing $12 and I didn't have enough loonies so I asked if I could give her cash and get change (not knowing about the debit and change exchange machines in the wall since she didn't tell me). She then took my $20 bill to the till and got two 10s out and came back and said "you lied to me" and I said excuse me and she said " you lied to me and said you had no money" I then explained I didn't have loonies specifically, but I had cash. I felt belittled and blamed as a FIRST TIME customer at this laundry mat. If she had just explained to me how the process worked instead of assuming that I already knew, the whole experience would have been much more pleasant. I told her how I felt and that she was making me feel stupid and uncomfortable. It was an extremely unfortunate experience, which is disappointing because my parents used to come here and I thought as though it would be more welcoming. I will not be coming back here and I would like for the lady who was working (Maron or Madry) to reflect on the way she treated me and to try respecting customers and making them feel welcome, instead of calling them liars and making them feel stupid for just trying to do their laundry.

As i began to browse the aisles it became apparent that upkeep was non existent. I soon discovered multiple examples of shirts/longjohns and underlayers that had been pulled out of there packaging and thrown aside. I understand that this is a result of inconsiderate customers. Be that as it may this is no excuse for the lack of attention to detail, presentation and proper presentation of marks products. After sifting through what little stock was available i had found one decent fitting thermal shirt that i was willing to purchase. Ok. On to the boots. I gave up within 30 seconds as the only boots available were size 14 or above. So here i am with my single thermal shirt that fit semi decently heading towards checkout. The line up was of 12 people. With one staff member at checkout. I stood in line for a total of about 15 minutes while waiting for this line to move. It didn't budge. Needless to say i left without a single item that i needed that day. I would totally agree that covid has created a tough environment for retail stores around the world. But not to the extent of the lack of customer service i had experienced at this particular marks location. 10 out of 10 would not suggest to anyone. 0 out of 10 stars.

The department store didn't open until the late 1800's, so I can't imagine where folks bought all their electronics up until then. lol. I spent most of my time here just soaking up the atmosphere and the history. It was tough for me to stay in the moment. They had great clearance prices on furniture and some unique housewares. I liked many of the men's clothes I saw. The problem was that nothing fit me. The store is surprisingly clean. They are (like many) short staffed. The people that were here were very pleasant and patiently answered questions of mine. If I lived in PG, I would make this a frequent stop. There is so much to see and soak up. Plus, they carry some good stuff! 09/22
