Fritto Misto, insalata cesare, canestri vodka, spaghetti frutti di mare, patate e cipolla pizza
    frances g.

The cafe/restaurant is gorgeous. The food was delicious. The chairs not so comfy on your back. It wasn't very busy on a Saturday night, probably due to it's location in the Design District. Hopefully it picks up because the food, space and service is great. What we ate: Fritto Misto - the spicy sauce that comes with it is yummy Insalata Cesare was good but a bit overdressed Canestri vodka was so yummy chef's kiss Spaghetti frutti di mare was very good Patate e cipolla pizza is one of their best pizzas but not everyone enjoyed the gorgonzola - I loved it! I would definitely return!

    More fries than steak.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Apathetic servers who don't care if you live or die. The Burata dish was more like a dish of tomatoes and a couple spoonfuls of burata cheese. For $24?! Pathetic. The steak was certainly NOT 14oz. It was more fries than steak for $55. Oh and to top it all off, while we were having dessert (before the bill was even brought to us) we were told they were closing in 5 minutes. First and last time. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

    Interior

Decent interior. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Limited selection of bakery items and drinks. They do offer a great hot breakfast selection. But no guest Wi-Fi which makes it a bit hard to work from. One other issue is there's quite a few flies despite the clean appearance. Not sure if it's caused by the nearby constructions.

Who doesn't serve tap water for free? Food is decent. Snotty is an understatement. Never going back.

This second location is located outside on the beautifully picturesque cobblestone road named Temperance Street. The building is historic and the calm interiors make you feel instantly at home. The staff was really nice and told me about their menu and seasonal items. In addition to coffee and matcha based beverages, the store offers food and merch as well. Apparently this location is a laptop free zone, offering an incredibly welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of financial district. Today I ordered a cortado. Before you even drink it, the fragrant coffee smell hits you. A bit sweet and almost fruity. When drinking it, the flavours amplify and provide an overall sense of calm, a breath of fresh air. It doesn't just feel like a regular old coffee but that you can take your time with it, like having a conversation with an old friend, it is meant to be savoured. I absolutely plan to go back for one of their seasonal matcha beverages and to get away from it all. 5/5

I did like the flavor of the regular hot matcha latte more, plus they made a very cute bunny latte art on it! Inside is small with minimal seatings but has a cool ambience for hanging out.

Keep in mind if you go for brunch at around noon on a Saturday, there might be a line for a table. They offered to give us a patio seat and we accepted (it was one of those days where the air quality was bad, but we were hungry so we took the patio anyways). The food took a while to get there. My friend and I both ordered the same thing, which was the schnitzel sandwich. I had mine with truffle fries and she had it with sweet potato fries. The schnitzel sandwich itself was great. The schnitzel was incredibly well seasoned and just the right amount of crispy. The portion was also quite massive. I didn't really enjoy the bread, particularly with the sesame seeds (it was a lot!) and the pickles felt unnecessary as well. My truffle fries were amazing. I had a few of my friend's sweet potato fries and they were also quite good. They have a really extensive menu, so I actually would want to come back again just to try other things. I didn't get to try the drink menu but I'd also want to try some as well, particularly the smoothies and the lattes. Overall, I'd recommend this brunch place! Make sure you do a reservation if you can if you're coming during peak hours.

Tables were mostly circular booth tables which was a bit tough to fit 6 adults and a toddler but we made it work. Staff was friendly and always available to assist. Food order was taken promptly and delivered promptly as well. Food itself was good but I do think their shakshuka is their star. I had that dish at another location the first time I tried cafe Landwer and it was to die for. I wanted to try a dinner menu item and got the chicken parmigiana with pasta instead. It was okay but definitely did not compete with the shakshuka I ate previously. Other meals included schnitzel and various pastas. All good but again nothing to write home about. I did however have a bit of my friend's roasted potatoes and it was delicious. Will be back for shakshuka!

Some coworkers recommended Ace Bakery due to its proximity to our office, so I ventured out recently to give it a try. The soup of the day didn't sound overly appealing to me that day, so I just ordered a sandwich. I was craving smoked salmon, but when I asked for it without dill, they said it's pre-made and already mixed in. Ok, pass. I chose the Italian grilled cheese instead. When I opened the sandwich, I could barely make out any cheese inside. I found the bread to be too thick for the amount of cheese and it was quite dry as a result. I also felt the type of bread was a bit too overpowering for a grilled cheese, but this is just my personal preference and I'm sure many others would disagree. It was ok, but I prefer a place that allows you to build your own sandwich. This place is better suited to people who want something quick and are not overly picky about what's in their sandwich.

Oh no, they are actually priced higher than in local grocery stores. Seems like a pathetic money grab to me. Other than a bread special of the day, everything here costs an arm and a leg. $9 for a small lunch sandwich? Who's running this place? The sandwich was good, but not $9 good. There's only a single large table to eat your lunch at too--weird. It's not worth the drive to the industrial section of town folks. What a disappointment.
