My first visit was 2 years ago and consisted of me telling him before sitting down how frightened I was. Dr. Velonas took the time and patience with me in making sure that I was completely comfortable with him and everything he was doing. I do not freeze and therefore going to the dentist consists of turning into a pin cushion. Dr. Velonas has taken the time which consists of hours to ensure that I am comfortable with all of the procedures which I have required. I can honestly say that now I can go to the dentist confidently with ALOT less fear and actually laugh with my dentist. Dr. Velonas and his team make me feel welcome, make me laugh and they are genuine in their concern about my well being which also includes personal follow up calls to ensure that all is well after visits. A good family friend told me it was worth the trip (I live in South Surrey which is a little out of the way). She was so right. This practice has everything I have been missing. After 2 visits I have found my new dentist. I am not a fan of going to the dentist. I had a couple of scary experiences when I was younger which still gives me some anxiety even when I am just getting a cleaning. The staff at Newton Village Dental is so great. The ladies at the front were warm and not pretentious and the overall atmosphere was comfortable and non intimidating. Initially I had a cleaning by a hygienist who did a great job. My first check up with Dr. Velonas was great. He is very calm, normal and good humoured and I could tell he has a real connection with his staff. Dr. Velonas was very to the point about certain work I needed after neglecting my teeth for a few years while moving around (and admittedly for my fear of dentists). He explained my options very clearly and without the feeling of up-selling or pressure. I really appreciated his compassionate yet firm advice. We figured out a plan for my dental work that worked for me and I am actually sort of looking forward to getting this done finally. Dr. Velonas seems to truly care about his patients and it is clear he has a passion for helping people. My second visit was for a couple of fillings. As far as I can remember I have never been to a dentist where I have managed to laugh (especially when there to get fillings). Dr. Velonas and his team put me at ease and had me laughing along with them more than once and I left feeling great. After two successful visits with Dr. Velonas I strongly recommend checking out Newton Village Dental Clinic.

It was an unpleasant experience for me, as I was charged for a 60 mins RMT session, and the RMT ended the session in 45 mins (including wait time and change of clothes, 4:36 PM - 5:25 PM). Despite the fact that 60 mins and 45 mins sessions are at 2 different rates. When I questioned the lady at the reception she kept staring at the computer screen, pretending she didn't understand my complain. Later tells me since she has already submitted the claim to the insurance company, so nothing can be done. For me this was an unethical and unprofessional practice. Message for the clinic- Please do not think of your customer as an idiot. Being a newer establishment, ethical practices would go a long way for you. She is very kind and knowledgeable. I am sorry that recent crown work hasn't gone very well what wasn't her fault. The first time I came for the permanent crowns she noticed that the color of them is not okay, I thought the crowns were for back teeth so not so noticeable but she wanted to do the proper job. She sent the crowns back to the lab to the technician to fix them. Today, after a month with temporary crowns that by the way were done perfectly by Dr Marija, I came again hoping that the new crowns would be okay. Unfortunately they were the same as the first time. Dr Marija was very upset; wonted to send the crowns back again but my thoughts were that the third time it could be the same issue so I decided her to cement them as I said they are not front teeth. I believe that this dental office should find a better lab technician as I heard that many other patients have to come more times for crown work because of his mistakes. This is my experience and I hope it will help somebody to decide about crown work at this office.
