My beautiful wife, adorable toddler and I came by Morgan Hill Library located on W Main Avenue in Morgan Hill, CA on 1/24/26. This library was one of the first libraries to have a play and learn areas for toddlers and children. It has a huge collection of books for children and adults as well as a play area for smaller children. They have computers, outlets available for patrons who need to charge their electronics, and other things to make the trip to the library fun. This was a great experience for our family. My hubby and I took our toddler here to check out Trusty Trails indoor playground, located inside. It opened just last year, definitely the first time I've seen a playground inside a library! Our toddler had a blast, her favorite was the slide and board books! We'll definitely be back to explore more! Can't believe this library's been opened close to 20 yrs now. It looks so modern, clean, and organized. If you've been to a Barnes & Noble in the past (don't know if they even exist anymore) it is like a TJ Maxx for books. You'll find stacks of books misplaced, kids running amok, and people lounging on couches that look like they can be homeless. MH library is so quaint and clean! I was surprise to see such vastness of open space and lots of natural light. The tables are nicely placed where it doesn't look like a student union with kids asleep with their mouths open. There are lots of enclosed classrooms where they hold special reading and training sessions for the public. Way back when I was a kid the librarian used to scan each book's barcode to check them out but they have some futuristic x-ray chromaphotographicspectroscopic machine that can read all the books you want in a single stack! Too bad the return scanner is much slower and requires each book to be fed one by one. I didn't think I'd ever visit a library again but I'm glad my experience was so positive! They have Blu-ray DVDs and modern video games and is probably 8 times larger than any Barnes & Noble store minus the cash registers because it's all free! read more

No doubt, we have the best library around. The grounds, statues, parking and landscaping is impeccable. The library is very nicely arranged with the bright, attractive toddler section. You can grab a book and hide in a nook or chair or grab an open room if you want. Or, use a computer. Or browse all the lovely available books, CDs, DVDs, etc. The staff are so nice and helpful; all you have to do is ask, and they will do their best to help you. Lovely library that's very family friendly. Had a great time here in between soccer games at the nearby tournament. They also had some small animals outside handled by volunteers for kids to learn about. For smaller kids, there is a lego play area and some sort or little carnival games staffed by volunteers when we were there. Top notch library and a nice surprise to visit. read more

We come to this library every month! I've been bringing my toddler here ever since she was a tiny infant, and now she absolutely loves books. She gets so excited for reading time and storytime. All thanks to this wonderful library. The staff is always kind, the children's area is inviting (has a new, clean, fun, and safe play space), and it truly feels like a place that nurtures a love for learning and reading. This library deserves 10 stars. We are so fortunate we have this marvelous library in our town :) 1. This library is stunning. 2. It has a private room for students and groups 3. Grab a book and read on one of the comfy sofas. 4. They have laptops you can borrow. 5. Before becoming a parent, I never went to the children's area. Now, as a parent, I can say the children's area is magnificent. 6. Story times are phenomenal. 7. They offer free food. Check dates & times :) 8. They have meet the author dinner nights and offer many free clubs/ groups. 9. Their selection of books is awesome. Who needs to buy a book when you can borrow it? 10. They are open Monday- Sunday so students can come in and do homework or study. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. Plus, the bathrooms have a diaper changing station and they are wheelchair, stroller accessible. This is such a wonderful library. It is clean and they have great resources for parents. I bring my daughter here for the toddler stories in the morning and Ms. Julie and Ms. Heather are great story tellers and make it fun for the children. We thoroughly enjoy the singing, dancing especially however I feel obliged to mention that some of the parents who bring their children here do not watch their child as Ms. Julie or Heather are doing story time. If your child is grabbing things in the front, please come get your child, they are YOUR responsibility not theirs! Some parents think its cute or funny, well it's not, it's out right disrespectful. If you want your child to run around, take them to the park. If you're there to talk to other parents, go to starbucks, this is not happy hour. If your child sees that you're not paying attention and engaging in story time what makes you think they will? This is not a 45 min daycare, you are ruining stroy time for other children who want to listen. Instead you have poor Ms Julie and Heather telling them to sit. Please be a role model for your child and sit and listen, bring a snack for them if they can't sit but clean up after them as well. Anyways, great library, watch your kids... read more

Morgan Hill is my hometown for the past 20+ years and I love it. This library is great and I visit it each week for many years with my elder mother, who is an avid reader. The issue I have is that the Non-Fiction section at the front of the library is filled with nothing but left wing, anti-Trump, political divisive material. The most hateful books are displayed front and center. I check each time I visit, and it's always the same. Why can't we have more middle leaning, maybe some right leaning, and non biased books placed prominently in front? read more

This is the loudest library I have ever been to. Not a bad thing, but don't expect it to be sounding like all the other libraries in santa clara county. This library is very kid friendly. Nice selection of books. I see/hear complaints about how the front of the library is very liberal and bias. Yes that is very true, I am a liberal and honestly it's a bit much, even for me. But what do you expect? This is a very liberal town. I just wish there was more variety in books at the front. Let people read both sides and decide for themselves. Very helpful and friendly staff. I'm a new resident to Morgan Hill and came in with my 6 year old. When we were checking out books the woman checking me out said "this will be the only time we ask you for assistance and use your id, because we're setting up your daughters account." She's 6 years old. I was a little confused so I made a confused gesture and the employee added, "The account will be in her name and we maintain privacy for each cardholder." Again I felt confused because my daughter is 6. So I said, "Okay, what does that mean exactly?" She went onto say, "We just make sure to tell each person who signs up that their children have privacy and when she checks out books that will be info that is between her and us. We are up front about policy so that you can make your own decision." The last thing I was going to do was leave with a crying child who can't check out the books she spent time picking out. So I confirmed that I was hearing correctly and asked, "why? She's 6 years old and I'm her mother. Why would a public library keep information from me regarding and books that she checks out? Are you saying that my daughter can check out any book in this library without my permission and you would keep that from me if I asked? Im her legal legal guardian." She replied, "That's correct. It's our belief that everyone has the right to privacy. It's a county policy for all our libraries." In a society with quite a bit of misinformation I don't feel comfortable knowing that a librarian at a public library would make me feel like my daughter needs privacy from me. And for the public library to say "private info between us and her"... like a stranger knows better than I. She never said it was a policy, but a "belief" that this county library has. Truth is, there are some books that aren't appropriate for her to be reading. Does this library stand in and make judgment calls? This "belief" has holes in it and makes no sense. Any mother is MOST qualified to help their children make decisions choosing books, not a stranger at a public library. And to clarify, if I needed to check what books were out/ late I could only access that list of my daughter was present. Just seems a little weird kid read more

Morgan Hill is so lucky to have a library as good as this one! Plenty of parking at this location, very clean, great working areas (both collaborative and quiet areas available), comfortable chairs, spacious tables, and community events happen here. My only real complaint is that I wish there was a larger quiet area and that they would be open on Sundays. Other than that, hours are pretty good with the library closing as late as 9 on some days and opening as early as 10 on others. The place is air conditioned, there are plenty of computers with useful software licenses (Adobe and Microsoft suites), and fast wifi. I'm super proud to have grown up in this area and to have the available resources that they provide here. I've been studying at this location for quite some time now, and it really is a great place to learn or get work done. On top of that, they also have a large assortment of books and media (including the latest movies AND video games). The hold process is really easy too; if the item you're looking for is unavailable, they can actually ship the item once its available from any of the other Santa Clara branches free of charge! I know I've saved tons of money by placing a hold on popular bestsellers and just waiting until they're available. If you have books, magazines, or other media, you've outgrown or grown tired of, you can always donate them here as well! This place is definitely a highlight of Morgan Hill especially if you're a student or professional looking to get some work done or looking to read about something new! read more

We've visited this library just once and it has a wonderful kids section. If you're looking for a library to take multiple kids, my wife and I highly recommend this one. We have four kids, ages 6,5,3 and 19mos and they all really enjoyed themselves here. The employees are helpful and friendly. They have a great selection of toddler books to older kids books. Two of my older kids are on the spectrum and they also loved the learning puzzles, magnet games and the arrangement of the room. This library kids section is so conducive for learning. Ever since I moved to the mountains of Morgan Hill, where there's no cell reception or broadband connection, this library has become my new home for GMAT studying. The library itself is clean and kept in good condition. However, there are two major problems: 1. No quiet reading room There's no good place to study in complete silence. The best they have are some individual chairs by the window in the back. 2. Spotty wifi On my last visit, I couldn't get a connection on either my phone or my laptop. Apparently several other people had the same issue. 3. Limited hours They're closed Sundays and Mondays, which is a big inconvenience. read more

I take my mom and dad to this library and I am always impressed by it's size, accessibility and openness. First of all, it is a lovely library after being crammed in the old building, it has opened up and become beautiful. Everything is new and well-thought out. When you first enter the library, the new books are arranged along the wall of the entryway. On the other side are the books that people have ordered from other libraries or put holds on through their computer. Often I will go and enter my mom's account and order up some new books for her. She likes this, because she never knows what will be waiting for her at the library. We have a little difference in our tastes in books, but this way she reads the books that i am listening to from Audible.com . I have to remember to order "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo". This was the last book I have read from audible and it was really really great! The library proper is open with the children's section to the right and adults to the left. The Children's section has the cutest chairs with cutouts of starts and such. Precious. The new libraries have books, magazine, dvds, cds and all sorts of fantastic media at your demand. They also provide meeting rooms and areas for activity and discussion. Morgan Hill has done a a great job in providing the community with useable space and access to media. On your way out, be sure to check the little room on the left in the entryway. There are flyers and postcards to upcoming events, bus schedules, free giveaway magazines (people bring their old 'zines to exchange), and used paperback books (mostly in the mystery/thriller genre) for 25 cents each. I hate to wait anywhere for long without a book, I usually buy three or four to keep in my car. Overall, this new library is an excellent upgrade from the old one... This was Summer 2012 Library staff is not trained appropriately. They seem not to be on the same page when it comes to policies. I went to get a library card, and a lady informed me that all I needed was my name on a bill or anything with an address and my name. Ok so I told her I'd return tomorrow. I go in w/ my kids the next day and I brought in an envelope from a cable company with my name and address on it. Another staff lady, rejected my letter and said she couldn't give me a card because it had no date on it! The this other woman indicated that it could of been from last year so NO CARD! I basically was told I was lying! Omgosh I felt so discriminated! So my kids started crying and I didn't get a card. Seriously they need training and need to inform people ALL the details on getting a library card. What a waste of my time and gas! Two stars because the library is very nice. Hopefully I get a card, and I might as well show them all my loan docs, ssn, and birth certificate. read more

The new library, located right behind the old one is very nice. I have never had a problem here with returns although there seem to be issues with the new conveyorized return system on a regular basis. They have a little store that is open on most Saturdays where they sell used books that have been donated by people. They also have big book sales where you can get great deals on books, sometimes $5 for a whole bag of books! read more

We are quite fortunate to have this beautiful library in MH. The place is huge, beautifully decorated, easy on eyes, and the books all seem to be categorized neatly. There's a section for the kids with kiddie tables and chairs for them to hang out in. I also like that they have ongoing reading sessions offered for the kiddos. Great place for all ages. I like when I see high schoolers hanging out there actually studying and researching instead of goofing around. read more

I come out to this library to tutor kids quite frequently and I must say that the atmosphere here is quite nice. The library itself is spacious and has a lot of tables and chairs. There are also a lot of computers that you can sign up to work on. There is community room where you can work, or you can sit at one of the open tables and couches. I feel that there is a good mixture of kids and adults at this library, and the place feel safe enough to let kids hang out without being supervised. It seems like there are several tutoring services going on during the week because whenever I am here I see the same tutors working with the same kids. read more

The Morgan Hill Library is a good library for a small town. While the library doesn't have a ton of parking, I have never struggled to find a space. The library has always been clean, neat, and well organized. They have computers available to located any book you are looking for, and if you're unsuccessful (like I have been in the past-books can be very good at hide-and-go-seek), there's always staff available to assist you. The library also provides activities for families in the area. I have seen zumba classes as well as activities for mothers and their children. I would have loved to take the zumba class, but unfortunately Bay Area traffic never allowed me the opportunity. I have to say, my favorite area is the foreign movies section. :) I highly recommend going there. We all can use more reading in our lives-expand our knowledge. Pretty much any library in the Santa Clara County library system is great. At this particular library, I've only visited the media room -where all the dvds, cds, and magazines are - they have a huge selection and it's a nice big room with plenty of places to sit. Overall, it's clean and a nice place to relax. Also, if you have kids - spend time visiting their playground out back. It's a hidden gem - it has a baby rock climbing wall, monkey bars, slides, and that bouncy turf on the ground so that when kids fall they pretty much bounce right back up. It's also gated so you don't have to worry about your toddler sneaking out. I took my friend's kids there (2 yrs old and 6 yrs. old) and we played there for hours - they loved it. read more

As others have noted, this is a very nice, modern, well-lit library. At 28,000 square feet, medium-sized compared to other California libraries. Well maintained, with clean restrooms and common areas. I'm in town visiting relatives and needed to use the WiFi to respond to e-mails. WiFi downloads at a blazing 25mb/s; uploads at 22mb/s. Library staff were really helpful and friendly. Shorter hours than libraries in other areas, but not a deal breaker. I LOVE the quiet room at this branch. As I write this, I'm sitting completely alone in the quiet room. The quiet room in my local library - Woodward Park in Fresno, CA - is packed every day. Wish I could take this library home with me! UPDATE: third visit and today the library is super packed... essentially no parking spaces. 10 people (mostly students) working/studying in the quiet room... very respectful and quiet. Even with a packed library, WiFi speeds still over 20mb/s. Still a great experience. read more

People have said it all before me, but I'm including my two cents. The Morgan Hill Library is a lovely, peaceful, friendly, clean, well lit, well planned, well stocked and pleasant place to be. Even the beautiful entrance speaks of kindness and peace with the wonderful bronze (?) statues, especially the mother reading to her child which evokes warmth and love from my heart. I find it awesome that if they don't have the selection you are looking for, you can simply place a hold on it and it will be brought to you from another location. When doing research, this especially helpful and cost efficient, freeing up time to continue other pursuits while you wait - which is not long! I also find it awesome to locate and place holds on books online! How much more convenient can a library be? Thank you Morgan Hill Library for bringing some joy into my day to day life.
