I have a standard poodle who thinks she is a cat and is determined to exhaust all "9 lives". She went in because she lost a litter of pups and needed spay. She developed multiple complications and needed a blood transfusion which she had an allergic reaction to. None of this is the fault of the vet practice. They dealt with each complication with competence and compassion. They saved her life. Some of the staff even tested their own dog's blood type to see if they could find a match for my girl. I am absolutely certain that had my girl been in the hands of any other veterinary team, she would not have made it. Yes, Veterinary care is expensive. I have been using Morgans for years. Today I had a unacceptable experience with 2 staff members. My pup was seen by Erin 2 weeks prior, excellent experience. I was told at that time that I had a drive in vaccination appointment today. First, it took staff forever to find what vaccination was due?????. Then vet tech told me the vet would have to do a complete assessment. I stated Erin did a initial complete assessment 2 weeks ago and it just needed the vet to give the vaccination. Tech coped a attitude and stated "we can't do that". I asked to speak to the person in charge. After a few minutes an older lady came out and stated she was the manager. I stated that I have been coming to Morgans for years and she cut me off and stated "so have I." Really?? She has no business being in charge with her attitude and escalation. I further stated Erin had done complete exam 2 weeks prior and she stated at that time an exam was not necessary for today's vaccination. The older lady "manager" stated no your puppy does not need a exam for this vaccination. The crew today had no idea what they were doing today. This comment does not include the vet on duty. 1 staff says 1 thing and another staff says something else. And the ATTITUDE of tech and older "manager" was off the hook! Even when older "Manager woman stated tech was incorrect. I am reaching out to all my family and friends Re today's experience. Am now researching other vets as is family and friends. It sucks because I like and trust Vet Erin. I have an appointment with my pup in 2 weeks and I will discuss my experience with her then and make a decision to stay with morgans or not. read more

Erin saved my Nala. She had an internal blockage and Erin was super gentle and polite. My dog would be dead if it weren't for her and her love for animals! I could never repay what she did for my dog. Hands down best vet place in Oregon. They were swift to take her in and didn't hesitate. They treated Nala with compassion and lots of love. Amazing! I can't say enough. We are from Nevada and we're staying in Winchester Bay. We bought a Yorkshire Terrier in Springfield, OR (Creekside Yorkies) and called to get a "Well Puppy" check as the breeder (who is amazing!) requested. Dr Mary Maddox was our DVM and she was incredible. The staff took the time to ask us all important questions about our tiny new puppy. They called us back and we met with the vet, Mary. She examined our puppy. Explained what she was doing with each check. Explained to us why he was so healthy and that the puppy needed more vaccines and what they were. She went on to explain about dog food choices as we had a few questions to homemade dog food. Needless to say, I wish we lived near this place because we had such a great first visit. I highly recommend you do not go here. We took our cat in for a rash under her throat. Got a $400 bill, 3 prescriptions, an antibiotic, and an anxiety diagnosis. They then got nasty because we didn't schedule a follow up appt. Turns out all she needed was diatomaceous earth because she had mites that were driving her crazy. A year later, she is fine. We still haven't used any of the meds. Scammy business and bad diagnosis but they maximize your bill! read more

Over 10 calls and still cannot absorb accurately simple information. Their "excuse" is they are short staffed. I rescued a small breed dog. His mouth was very badly infected. This vet quoted me 7 thousand dollars. They explained that it might not cost that much. Depending on the teeth. It was 4 thousand in the end. After paying all that money I found out that the reasonable price for all the other veterinary in the area is only 15 hundred. I thought. I should have looked before I had the work done. I went to a difference vet after finding this out. And they didn't even pull all the teeth! So not only did they charge 4 times more than anyone else in the area. And they didn't even do the whole job. I WILL NEVER EVER USE THEM. My wife and I were vacationing near Bandon with our 3 aging Shih Tzus. We were from outa state so when one of our babies showed signs of eye infection we knew we couldn't wait two weeks to see our primary vet. We were referred by a vet in Bandon who was in surgery all day. We are both in human healthcare so recognize a great professional. We were quoted the emergency fee right over the phone. No surprises. My dog was seen within 3 hours of call allowing us time to travel. Visit, diagnosis, medication, and a great feeling our dog received superior care. Thank you ! Sadly we saw all the negative reviews tonight and as nurses with 88 years experience, I have to speak out. These people care and are serious patient advocates. I wish that I had a better review. I have been with Morgan for over 5 years now with 4 dogs, 2 of which were trained Service Dogs. Morgan started off great...but in the past 1 1/2 years or so, so much has changed. In growing larger, the quality of care has decreased. The compassion factor that used to be great terms lost now and everything is hurried. My Service Dog had a cancer diagnosis toward the end of her life that I am confident could have been caught, discussed and treated in a better fashion, saving her pain and increasing her quality of life. I do not feel comfortable with the techniques and approach of veterinarians/vet techs brought in more recently (that we have encountered). Here we are with a new Service Dog - with all of the emotional and monetary investment of a highly trained medical alert Dog - and I am terrified of what I am seeing today. I feel that we are unimportant. Karen is the one very good part of this practice who has remained so. I dont know how to advocate for my dogs in this town. read more

While vacationing in Coos Bay our dog Jasper needed a bandage change from a recent surgery involving plate and screws. I looked online for a veterinarian who did similar surgery's. I found Morgan Veterinary Hospital.They were able to fit me in the same day. The facility was very nice and clean. The staff was professional and nice. They did an excellent job on the bandage which is more like a cast than a bandage. When it came time to take care of the bill, they told us there was no charge. I was shocked! My 14-yr-old small dog was kicked by a deer in our yard leaving an open wound on his shoulder. The vet told me they needed to put a plug in to drain and would need to use lasers. I didn't understand that they would CUT HIM IN TWO MORE PLACES ON HIS BACK and put this terrible over-large cone on him so he couldn't even breathe! His tongue was BLUE when I picked him up and he was very traumatized. The staples they put on the deer wound looked like a crazy quilter - just sloppy as hell - even the tech said so when they took the staples out. I will never ever take my precious dog to them again. If I could give zero stars I would. We have been using this vet since moving to town four years ago and have been less than impressed on multiple occasions, but today was the straw that broke the camels back and I am absolutely appalled with Karen. I dropped my elderly dog off for a blood test at 9am and didn't get told what time I was supposed to pick her up. I called in the afternoon and no answer. Called again an hour later, no answer. Finally at 3pm I got someone on the phone and they told me "the nurse isn't quite done and we'll call you when she's ready." A 4:15 I get a call saying that they hadn't even been able to perform the test and wanted me to board my dog over night. Mind you she hadn't eaten or had water due to this test since 8p last night. I made the decision to go pick up my dog immediately, and when I did Karen came to me to make excuses as to why the test didn't get done and couldn't give me a reason as to why they didn't call me earlier when they realized the test couldn't be completed today. When I finally got my dog from their back kennel she still had her leash on and was soaked in her own urine! I will never take one of my pets to this clinic again. My father-in-law came to visit Coos County for the weekend and brought our old 17-year-old dog. Over the weekend, sweet old man dog took a turn for the worse and we knew that euthanasia was the only option Monday morning. We didn't want to put him through the pain of a long car ride back to California and aren't the type of people who are ok with shooting our family members so we drove to a local vet office. They were slammed so we went to Morgan. I asked twice about the price of euthanasia, was told that a "care plan" was being created for me. Dr. came in, listened to Buddy's heart and asked his age then agreed to euthanize...it was a 90 second encounter. I was asked to step out of the room and take care of the bill while they inserted the catheter to administer the sedative to him and this is what I was given. This is what they charged to humanely discharge a dog. Less than $20 in supplies and I was charged almost $600. Had my father in law been able to return home and euthanize there, the humane society charges $35. The local vet is $125. Beware....they are VERY sneaky....and very willing to take advantage of people. read more

If you'd like to spend nearly $50 to have someone, not even the vet, talk to you about cat food THEY forced on you, this is the place for you. When I took my cat to the vet on 4/3, I was sold a special Science Diet food for her condition. They told me do NOT feed her anything but this. I tried it. She developed diarrhea. When I went back on 4/17 and asked them to do something about the diarrhea, they changed her diet to a different Science Diet and explained to me how I should slowly change her diet over to this one. Information that is WIDELY AVAILABLE FOR FREE ONLINE. Cost, $47 for a 5-10 min. talk, as if I had done something wrong. On 4/17 the vet came into the room, picked up my cat and said she had to be detained for a test. Even tho the time before, they did the test while I waited. He grunted a few words and off he went with my cat. When I picked my cat up that evening she came home with a limp. She didn't have one when I dropped her off earlier! Now it's 4/29 and not only does she have diarrhea she is also suffering from daily hairballs from their suggested food. I really feel as if this vet did my cat wrong. She's worse now than before I took her in. This vet is all about making money on food and talks about food. Avoid! read more

Ok this is a difficult review. The vet techs are so helpful, sweet and kind they deserve 4 stars. The vet deserves negative stars. He is unkind, uncaring, uncompassionate as well as greedy. He charges a visit price for a booster. She didn't need another exam but since Aley needed the booster we did it. Again we got a lecture about how fat she is, how I am taking years off her life and so on. It's frustrating since she spends 1.5 hours a day minimum at the beach. Alley is not obese. The lecture about exercise was even more interesting because the only reason she needed an appointment was from running in the grass and being covered with ticks. If I never took my dog out as he claims she wouldn't have had a tick incident. Alley is losing weight now that we aren't in Phoenix and she can play outside. The vet wants a exam every 6 months. I don't know why since they techs can weigh her and say hi for a friendly visit without an exam. The vet is focused on making money and not loving your pet. The products such as flea and tick and heartworm meds are about $15 more than other places. The vet techs really seem to love your pet. My pet had a serious ear infection. The local vet. attempted to rid her of the fungus for 1 1/2 plus. No luck. My pet was in terrible pain. She cried and cried all night. I felt helpless. A referral was made to a specialist in Eugene. A long trip, very expensive, and a promise with the meds it will clear up. Sadly it did not. After sometime, I read Morgan Veterinary Hospital treats ear issues. I made an appt. The best thing I did for my pup. She was diagnosed correctly and administered the correct meds. My pup no longer cries at night, she is much happier, in better health, fungus gone. I want to thank Morgan Veterinary Hospital. My dog and my sisters dog both recently became patients of Morgan's. When she had to have her dog put down they gave us a quote of $800. I was absolutely horrified. She went to Hansons who did it for $130 and treated her compassionately the entire time. I asked Morgan's for a price breakdown on why exactly they quoted us at $800 and they never got back to me. They don't answer emails even when they ask you to reply. The vet himself seems dead set on getting you to do the most expensive thing available. Don't ever pay $800 to have a member of your family put to sleep. Go to people that are compassionate and caring and aren't trying to swindle you while you are emotionally distraught. read more

Be forewarned, first off, that this place is very expensive. On top of that, our first 2 visits, which we had an appointment for, we were made to wait almost an hour. I don't mind paying top dollar for quality service, but for the money you must spend, that sort of wait is not acceptable. The lobby is tiny and awkward with no room for people or pets. My cat was neutered and I was told I had to leave him overnight, when we went to pick him up in the morning he was soaked in urine and his cat carrier was ruined. It would not washout and I had to throw it away. How hard is it for staff to put some litter in a carrier so cats don't have to sit around in their own waste??? Was also charged $15 for a flimsy fabric E-collar which fell apart after 3 days. All told, with the neuter, E-collar, and destroyed carrier, I am now out over $300. The lady vet was kind and was concerned about what decision we were facing and never were told. We brought the cat to Newport where we had just moved and her condition quickly deteriorated. We found the Grove hospital and we chose to have her euthanized. They were supportive and so kind. Morgan's also have kind assistants but have a feeling they do only what they are told. We got the results of the needle biopsy a week after she passed. She did have cancer. read more

Passing through on vacation with our sweet 22 month old German Shepard. For some still undetermined reason, she became quite ill, relatively quickly. Very lethargic, diarrhea and vomiting , rapid breathing and heartbeat. We were actually in Bandon at the time we realized she needed urgent care. Called the vet there and was told they would see her the next day. Called Morgan and they told us to bring her in as soon as we could. We arrived a little after 4pm. Clinic closes at 5:30 but staff, including Dr Maddox stayed well past closing time, and seemed happy to do so, to provide care for Holly. Dr Maddox kept us informed of her thoughts and plan step by step. After an appropriate work up, IV fluids and antibiotics, we took her to the hotel for the night with a little more pep in her step. We returned the following morning for additional care , received required prescriptions and then went on our way to continue our vacation. I have read through the negative responses and just can't agree. Dr Mary Maddox was/ is FABULOUS! Nursing staff and technicians were kind/caring/informative and definitely went above and beyond for our sweet girl. Definitely was not inexpensive but nothing of quality ever is. read more

I have been with Morgan's for over 10 years with multiple pets. I have had experiences ranging from downright wrong to wonderful. These reviews are right: if you catch them on a slow day with great staff in good moods, then it's great. Jessica and Karen have always gone above and beyond to make both pet and owner feel comfortable. Dr. Karl lacks bedside manner. It's just what it is- it's why he's a vet. He's better with pets than people and that's fine. As for the cost, everywhere you go will cost a fortune. Pets are expensive. read more

Do not take your animal to this vet!! My dog had a horrible ear infection and due to ice and snow, I wasn't able to get him to his regular vet so due to my dog being in so much pain, I took him to Morgan. They do not allow you to go into the office with your animal due to "their" Covid restrictions. We were forced to stand in the rain to explain what was going on with our dog. They took him inside and made us wait in the car. The vet finally came out and was very arrogant. He told us that our dog was "a mess and he could fix him if we followed his directions 100%". One of his "directions" was to feed him only Science Diet. Pretty sure he gets a kick back from selling this over priced food. I requested an itemized list of things that he wanted to do and it was $1500. He wanted to give him a $300 bath??? I whittled the services down and the bill was $1080 for the exam, antibiotics and allergy pills. We paid and they brought our dog out and he was shaking and you could tell that he had been muzzled during the exam. They scheduled a follow up appointment. With my vet, a follow up appointment is included in the original charge. Not here, they wanted to charge $50 to see if the meds they prescribed were working. I took my dog here for boarding because of a family emergency. He was there for 5 days and 4 nights. I checked in and called after two days and they said he was doing great. When I went to pick him up they told me he had not ate the entire 5 days. My dog had a check up the day before boarding and while he was being boarded there he lost 5 pounds! When I asked why they didn't tell me when I checked in they had no explanation. I would expect even if I didn't check up a call telling me my dog wasn't eating for days! They also asked me to feel his body to see if he felt alright. I am not the vet! My dog has been pooping blood every since he left. I would like to add that my dog has never turned down food. He will eat absolutely everything from anyone. So I think the only reason he wouldn't eat is because what I'm about to tell you about... I reached out to someone who use to work there. They said the way they treated the animals behind the scenes was awful. Neglect, aggressive handling, they don't take them out and sometimes do not even feed them. It is so upsetting! I can't even say everything I heard because it makes me cry and want to throw up. Please don't take your animals here! read more

I have never been treated so rudely and the Vets do not know how to treat animals. I took my 15 year old dog in as he had been coughing non stop for 3 days. I let them know that if it was his heart and they were not able to fix it , since he is already blind and deaf, i did not want him to have surgery. The one Vet came out and said he has a good heart and is well worth putting $1,000 into him. I said great. They did x-rays, blood work and heart worm medicine and then said he has an enlarged heart and has CHF. I was sent home with Medicine no follow up appointment had been made and my dog was no better. I called on Friday 4 days after he had been on the medicine to let them know what was going on and I never received a call back. I now need to have my dog put down and I will NEVER go to MORGAN VET AGAIN!!! I will be turning this Veterinarian Clinic and the Vets that worked on my dog into The Veterinarian Board of licenses. read more

Morgan Veterinary Clinic has given high quality care to all of my animals. They have never disappointed to be excellent and highly skilled. Dr. Karl can do surgeries himself unlike some other vets that send you to the Springfield Emergency Clinic. Morgan Vet did a spleen tumor removal on our Bull Terrier over Christmas and called us daily to invite us to come visit our dog and give us an update. When I had to put my old horse down Dr. Karl came out and my horse never had a moment of fear and no pain. Prior to that my old horse had a cancerous growth on his eyeball and Dr. Karl effectively removed it with a laser. The growth did not return. I was so happy my horse did not have to go blind or lose an eye. If you want top knowledge and skill in your own town, in a place where they have the equipment to do surgeries in an emergency or otherwise, I highly recommend them! No other vet in the area has the ability nor equipment to handle such things as emergency spleen removal. I know because I called all of them. After my dog was saved I stayed with Morgan Vet (Dr. Karl). We had been sent to Springfield by our old vet and were driving from the coast to the valley daily in winter storms to deal with our emergency. Our dog was so upset at the emergency clinic and so were we. When Morgan vet took our case we were beyond relieved. They are very nice and very professional and they definitely love animals. Used this veterinarian for many years. Was the only vet in in Coos County who would come out when my old horse got sick with a kidney infection. It was very serious, but since I couldn't get my horse to OSHU, Dr. Karl set us up with a home horse dialysis and support system. Checked on us daily ( & did not charge me for Every visit). Manage to save my beautiful Appaloosa friend. Has been my vet for dogs, cats and horses. Great staff. And yes, it can cost a lot of money, but have found that with other veterinarians. read more

I didn't read the reviews prior to going to Morgan's. My experience was no where near what other reviewers had. My 16 year old pom/Chihuahua with a seizure condition was not doing well. Since we were just visiting from Seattle, I needed to find a place quick. The staff was super nice when I called and got me in to see Dr.Karl within 15 minutes of me calling them. The doctor examined my dog and with his symptoms, diagnosed him with pancreatitis. They gave me a quote of other tests they suggested but ultimately gave me the decision of what I wanted. I opted for only the pancreatic blood test. We picked up some food and left. A few hours later, my dog had a seizure episode and did not recover well. We called Morgan's 15 minutes before they closed and they stayed open to see us. He did not charge us after hours visit charge. We were concerned about lethargy, he gave us an IV bag and showed us how to administer it. The next day they called to check up on my dog and within 48 hours had the results of the blood draw. The results were not good and Dr.Karl suggested a specialized kind of dog food and to have my regular vet recheck the lab work. We picked up a couple of cans and left with a brand new box of samples. Everyone was so kind and generous. It made the rest of our time in Coos Bay great. He's old school but are very kind and thoughtful. read more

We called got told to bring her in only to be told to apply for their credit card or there was nothing they were going to do. Well since we didn't get a proved we got told "I'm already dealing with a sick dog and the bill is already $3500.00. And going up. I took my cat once and will never go back. They ran some "senior pet" tests and said they would call me in a couple days with the results, after a week and a half, I called them. All these tests cost about $350, which I would happily pay for to keep my cat happy and healthy, but when I called back, they said they now needed to do x-rays, which was on my sheet that I had paid for, I questioned it and they "were going to check into it and call me back" I don't care if they call back, which they haven't, I am going to cut my losses and will not be returning. We went to Morgan's for help with a digestion problem. Allie would frequently vomit after consuming copious amount of water. After blood testing the vet was unable to diagnose the problem. A vet assistant suggested that a possible cause of Allie's malady was because she was over weight (which she was). I knew this reason was so flawed it didn't deserve a response. But i took advantage of the assistant's offer and bought a bag of Metabolic diet chow which is made by Hill's. After buying two 7 pound bags (Morgans doesn't offer a larger size) I shopped around the internet and found a 27 pound bag at Chewie's. I gave Chewie's the vet info and waited for them to ship. After a week they had not shipped the product and after an inquiry was told that Chewie had not received an authorization from the vet. When i called the vet and inquired the same assistant who told me Allie was vomiting because she was over weight stated that Morgan essentially accused Chewie of selling counterfeit Hill's product. Therefore, they refused to provide a script for the dog food. Morgan never notified me of their half-baked decision which resulted in Allie being without her proper diet. When i confronted the vet assistant she offered just lies for excuses. It was though i was talking with a doppelganger of donald trump. read more
