Dr. Hilary, Dr. New, and Dr. Wendy are all excellent, kind veterinarians and provide great medical advice and care for the pets they see. All of the staff are equally kind and proficient at what they do. Everyone at the clinic deeply cares about each animal that comes through their door. I have been bringing my pets to Ocean Boulevard Veterinary Hospital for several years and could not recommend another veterinary clinic or hospital in our region more than I do them. I've noticed that another reviewer has said that all they care about is money and that they are like "car salesmen". That couldn't be further from the truth. I have never experienced anyone at this veterinary hospital trying to "sell" me anything, unlike a couple of other area veterinarians that I will not name in this review. In my experience, the doctors at Ocean Boulevard will advise the best course of action for their patient, but they leave it up to the client to ultimately decide. If you wish to buy your meds from an online pharmacy, the doctors at this hospital are more than willing to send the prescription. You just have to ask. And in the case of the other reviewer's opinion, antibiotics are something that should be started as soon as possible. Waiting 3 days to a week for them to arrive from an online pharmacy will put your pet's health at risk.

    Bandit - Every vet's nightmare!

Dr. Wendy Labrousse is very professional and knowledgeable. This was our first visit to this office; we had previously taken our dog, Bandit, to another vet in North Bend. Wendy detected a couple of minor conditions which the other vet seemed to have missed. Neither is serious now, but early preventive care is always preferable to emergencies later on. Both Wendy and her assistant, Megan, were very gentle with our little guy - he needed two shots and a blood test and he didn't even blink. And they didn't even try to upsell us on overpriced, boutique dog food!

I simply can't recommend this place enough. Tho her staff has changed over the years, they are always caring and gentle; I know Dr. Wendy would never have it any other way ;) Her services aren't cheap. But, you'll get quality care from someone who is just plain awesome. I liked both her and Dr. Warner (before he retired) .... And, I have to say it takes a certain kind of vet to travel out to your house to visit an ailing pet. We did it this way when we had to euthanize my dog, and I'm still to this day grateful that they came out to our house to do this very difficult thing. It meant a lot for all of us to be in comfortable surroundings, and they definitely made a bad situation less traumatic. Her offices are always clean, friendly and inviting. She has a wonderful way about her; both listens and empathizes well. I love how she never pressured me to do FeLV shots for my indoor cat (other vets have & would). I also love the way she brought my cat back from being almost gone one morning after he had a bad reaction to anesthesia. We took him to Morgan Veterinary (ER on call) and were told to give him a sedative and put him in a dark room (!) - NOT! Dr. Wendy gave him the (correct) urgent care he needed, and got him onto a medicine regimen that catered to a number of different issues we then realized he had, including congestive heart failure. That was years ago, and he is still going strong as ever! Better actually! My gratitude for this woman is ENDLESS, and I only wish I could've brought her with me to the other side of the country where we are now. I would go back to her in a heartbeat if we ever move back to Coos Bay.

    Bruno loves his vet visits!

The doctor and staff were so nice and helpful to us. Our puppy had the best care while there.

Called them in a mild panic and the doctor talked us through it without asking us to bring our dog in. Very thoughtful and helpful!

She developed multiple complications and needed a blood transfusion which she had an allergic reaction to. None of this is the fault of the vet practice. They dealt with each complication with competence and compassion. They saved her life. Some of the staff even tested their own dog's blood type to see if they could find a match for my girl. I am absolutely certain that had my girl been in the hands of any other veterinary team, she would not have made it. Yes, Veterinary care is expensive. Good care isn't cheap and cheap care isn't so good.

I was told at that time that I had a drive in vaccination appointment today. First, it took staff forever to find what vaccination was due?????. Then vet tech told me the vet would have to do a complete assessment. I stated Erin did a initial complete assessment 2 weeks ago and it just needed the vet to give the vaccination. Tech coped a attitude and stated "we can't do that". I asked to speak to the person in charge. After a few minutes an older lady came out and stated she was the manager. I stated that I have been coming to Morgans for years and she cut me off and stated "so have I." Really?? She has no business being in charge with her attitude and escalation. I further stated Erin had done complete exam 2 weeks prior and she stated at that time an exam was not necessary for today's vaccination. The older lady "manager" stated no your puppy does not need a exam for this vaccination. The crew today had no idea what they were doing today. This comment does not include the vet on duty. 1 staff says 1 thing and another staff says something else. And the ATTITUDE of tech and older "manager" was off the hook! Even when older "Manager woman stated tech was incorrect. I am reaching out to all my family and friends Re today's experience. Am now researching other vets as is family and friends. It sucks because I like and trust Vet Erin. I have an appointment with my pup in 2 weeks and I will discuss my experience with her then and make a decision to stay with morgans or not.

The vets themselves have always been kind and competent, which makes this even harder to write -- because the women at the front desk have made it absolutely impossible to continue care here. The last straw was when my husband was in a car accident in our only vehicle. I called, stressed and scared, explaining the situation and asking if there was any possible way to arrange care for my diabetic cat -- my literal fur baby -- since we live an hour away. Instead of even a hint of compassion, the woman at the counter treated me like I was irresponsible and uncaring. She actually told me I "should have better time-management skills," and implied that I wasn't putting my pet first. Meanwhile, this clinic hasn't taken appointments in years, so we were expected to drive an hour and then sit in the car for additional hours waiting to be seen -- something that can put a diabetic cat into shock. What was once an inconvenient but workable system has now become completely unmanageable for anyone who doesn't live directly in Coos Bay. Their policies make it nearly impossible to get timely, humane care for a sick animal -- and instead of acknowledging that, the front desk staff blame the clients. And then, after a decade of loyalty, they sent me a letter saying they will no longer see my pets at all -- cutting off access to the medication my diabetic kitty needs to stay alive. No warning. No conversation. Just a cold letter severing care for the animals they've known for years. It breaks my heart, because the veterinarians themselves are wonderful people. But the front office staff are rude, dismissive, and, frankly, cruel. Their behavior cost my pets their longtime healthcare home. They should be ashamed of how they treat the people who trust them with their animals' lives. Whatever consequences come from behaving this way are well-deserved.
