We were told this is a place you have to try while in town. I have to say the food is good, the portions are huge, prices are good but the staff isn't as welcoming. It was our first time coming so we weren't exactly sure how the seating worked. The staff didn't greet people upon walking in so I guess that's just the way it works here. Awesome service and great tasting food with oversized portions. I had the half order of biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs with cheese. When it came I dumped the cheesy eggs on top of the biscuit and gravy. The gravy was savory goodness with plenty of sausage. The only thing that was meh was the processed cheese on the eggs. What is it with Iowa and the freaking processed cheese? My husband had huge pancake and I mean huge! It was fluffy and perfectly cooked. He's a hearty eater and barely got through half of it. Morgs! Loved my two visits to this little eatery in the heart of Waterloo. I went on a Monday and a Wednesday morning, and both times the place was near capacity - and for good reason. The staff is accommodating, the portions are humongous, and the place just oozes Midwest charm. Tight booths are an issue for the bigger boned, and if you eat here a lot, you will likely become squishier in the midsection. I'm certain I'll be back the next time my travels take me to Waterloo. Hopefully they'll have wrapped up all the street work by then. read more

They have excellent food. It is like a 60's diner! I always get hash browns, bacon, toast, and scrambled eggs, which is a combo of some sort. The portions are excellent size, so come hungry. I think the prices are a little high for this establishment. However, service is generally pretty good. There is a counter and besides that, there is only about 10 booths so there might be a wait at sometimes. It is also worth nothing that they close at 1 on the weekdays. I am giving it 4 out of 5 because they are cash only, so they do not accept credit and debit cards, and I think that is really inconvenient because I, like most people, never carry cash, just my credit card. read more

Small, greasy/spoon style, lost in the 50's (not the fake ones) diner. Stick to breakfast and you will be happy. The pancakes are as huge as every review says and I know they are made in small batches. (Home made) the hash browns are also shredded here. They also make their syrup the way some mom's used to with brown sugar. It is generally busy on the weekends and there's not much for waiting area. ... And I would not recommend bringing a large party (over 6) and sitting together. Prices are incredibly reasonable and portions are quite large. I have become a regular and the waitstaff treats even the new visitors like family. I would recommend this as a must/stop if you are in town and a breakfast lover. . I have been going to this restaurant for 40 yrs. Our last visit. Hashbrowns were different for some reason. The bacon was curled up and tasted like fried chicken. They forgot to cook the pancake. So we were done eating when it was brought out. We took it home in box. We normally have breakfast at the cost of $40-45$ for the family. It was $71. I'm afraid this was our last visit. This local hotspot is just not the spot for me. My husband and I arrived about 10:30 am on a Thursday. Every booth inside was taken as well as every stool at the counter. Not a problem... I'm a very patient person. The downside? There is no method to prioritize who gets to sit next. So my husband I were waiting (in the tiny entryway) and there was a lady ahead of us who was waiting at a 2 person bench. 3 men then came in, squeezed past us and as soon as a group stood up to leave they nabbed the booth. The staff doesn't seat you, they didn't even greet us upon entry. You literally fend for yourself. So we waited longer. The place is small, kind of a dive. No fancy decor, just basic booths and a meal counter. About 5 employees were running around waiting tables or cooking. Once we did sit down (which we literally had to grab a table that was still dirty out of fear of someone else taking it) the waitress came soon to clear the customer before a dirty dishes. The menu has several options. I made a poor choice. I didn't want anything huge (pancakes were bigger than the plate and an inch thick) so I chose "French toast with meat". My husband chose biscuits and gravy and an extra side of 1 scrambled egg. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. This surprised me as they have such a small cooking area. My French toast was non memorable. For $6.60 I got 1 slice of French toast that was way too eggy and 3 pieces of bacon. The 1 pice of French toast was small, limp and not even Texas toast thick. It would probably work as a kids meal. At least the bacon was good. My husband liked his biscuits and gravy and the portion was large. For $25 for 2 breakfast meals and drinks (coke and on) I expected more. The service was nothing special, the atmosphere bland and the food overpriced and ordinary. But as consistently busy as they are they must be doing something right. So they won't miss my business. read more

In 2018 I had deployed to Iraq. One of my fellow soldiers was from around the Waterloo area and had brought with him a coffee mug from Morg's. As morale ran low amongst the ranks, we resorted in playing harmless pranks to keep our spirits high. One such series of pranks involved us hiding our friends coffee mug which finally culminated in me paying to mail the mug back to Morg's. I had composed a note explaining the prank and requesting simply that upon receiving the mug Morg's would email me back a picture with it in my email address provided. Seemingly a simple request considering the sacrifice we were making for our country. We received no email back. I have no other choice but to believe that Morg's doesn't support the troops. read more

Great food, HUGE portions, wonderful service and a cute old dinner feel. They were SUPER accommodating and made me their home aid onion rings for breakfast. I am not a huge breakfast fan but my husband makes me go out to eat breakfast occasionally and prefer to have anything but breakfast food when I go out for breakfast.
