I finally had an opportunity to visit this place with my wife after visiting a nearby flea market. I really enjoyed this place way more than the Joliet location. We visited both stores that are next to each other. They're under the same Morning Star Umbrella so this review will reflect both location on route 30. Going in, this store was decked out already for Halloween where they had costumes for kids and adults and plenty of decor upon entering. This store had tons of clothes, home decor, canvas prints and other practical things you would expect to find. They do have a few dressing rooms too to try on some items before contemplating purchasing a product. What I really enjoyed was their plumbing and electronic section in the corner! I bought a few things for my washer and even some Halloween lights! After shopping here we went next door to the other store which was more geared toward children and it's also where you'll find the public restroom. They had such a beautiful nursery set up too full of great toddler items. The other room next door to it had kids games featured too and some great nostalgic sports stuff. Lower prices! They are ridiculous... candles 6$. When you can get the same ones at aldi. All over prices just too high. These are donated items, and could be priced way less. Plus workers filtering through items in the back room or calling family members in to buy. read more

You never know what you'll find, but you'll always find something. Honestly, this is probably the cleanest thrift store I've been too in a long time. But the best part is knowing that this place uses its profits to help the community in big ways. Morning Star is an incredible organization! read more

This store charges way too much for too many items. Come on, you got them for FREE! I thought that the idea was to sell to those who needed a break, for far less than full retail while supporting their mission. everything got way to expensive for what it is. they were donated for people who cannot afford new. i digress, just purchased a kindle for 9.99 that was in a bucket that says final sale not guaranteed to work whatever. i check out and this older woman with blonde hair told me it should have had a stamp on it. as if it was my fault that there wasn't, so i told her there's many more with no stamps. she stares at me like im stupid for trying to help her. not sure what the stamps meant i was just trying to be helpful. anyways, she was rude about it and made me feel uncomfortable. read more

This places is several buildings long. It has large aisles in some areas, but if you have mobility issues you need to be careful in some aisles. Ask for assistance, if needed, or take a seat to rest. There is a great deal to see. I enjoy going into the thrift shop, seasonal decor shop and vintage/antique store. There are numerous items throughout this place. Furniture, clothes, collectibles, decor, Kitchen items, sports, baby goods, holiday, toys, lights, frames, cards, clothes, shoes, and more. There are some items that are over priced and some that are too used to be on the floor, but I see that everywhere. Staff were fairly nice. My favorite shop is the antiques/vintage area. It is for a great cause, too. I also like many of their sales. I definitely recommend stopping in- I bet you will find at least 1 thing you want. read more

A great substitute in the New Lenox area if you're looking for second-hand products, you've already raided the Goodwill store by the Wal-Mart, and you want to help out the local community I personally go here to buy books all the time. Nice little place, though the store could use a good shellacking. The employees are always pleasant, and (if you're good) will work out certain prices for big ticket items... I've been there numerous times. You can test electronics tho stickers are placed on most items stating "as-is" I am surprized at some of the prices. Some items seem "marked up"... especially some clothes. I appreciate some daily specials. I've noticed on occasion a particular worker who talks loudly and seems to talk to other workers in a tone that is disturbing. I've had no problem shopping for clothes... its just hit and miss... as in other stores like this. read more

Instead of asking for donations,this place needs to donate clothes to places needed. It just sits and collects dust and we saw their store room is filled to the ceiling with more clothing. If you want to be charitable,give the clothing away to people in need instead of trying to make a buck. read more

Very rude ladies work here. Definitely not the church going type. Just stopped in here the other day to look for Halloween decor, overheard a conversation about drinking alcohol too much and hating the job. A woman named Gail, was very rude and her demeanour was off. She looks like she hates life. And no one greets you when you walk in. This place is just a bunch of old gals complaining about their job. Will not go here again. I also walked into the other thrift store with the old antique furniture, and the lady Gail found her way over there and was complaining some more with the cashier working there!!! WTH. Buyer and donor beware!! I paid for a china cabinet at this store and it was damaged before it even got into our vehicle. I was nicely informed that there is a no money back policy. Even if the merchandise you purchased does not leave the premises. I spoke to the office manager who informed me that they would compromise their policy for me and give me a store credit. I do not feel like that is a compromise at all. I did not change my mind, my item was damaged. I have donated so many things here in the past and would feel awful if someone who purchased my item was treated this way. I will never go to this store again nor will I support them financially. I went to Gallery 1700 in Joliet and bought an awesome china cabinet. The selection was incredible and they were so friendly and even loaded it up for me. read more

Been to the store a few times and have now noticed that the prices are skyrocketing. I can buy new at walmart and other stores much cheaper than used items at this store. They need to keep in mind this is a used goods store and prices of items should be made accordingly. Compared to other resale used goods stores prices are much higher here. Current examples would be a used carpet steam cleaner for 30.00, a saxaphone for 75.00, and a flavorwave oven for 50 bucks, a tommy bahama shirt for 39.99! All are much cheaper elsewhere. All the people working there are very rude ,but mostly the manager and her spoiled son working as cashier .They never welcome you , giving you ugly looks and anything you ask seams to bother them.The young guy , the cashier doesn't have any idea about this resale business nor the manager . They give you ugly looks like they don't even want you inside that store ? I find that very weird. Clothes are super old , in bad condition and everything is priced like in a consignment store or higher .And this wasn't just one time thing but all the times I went there .This place is nothing but a waste of time.Oh, the 1 star is for the lady in her 60's petite with short hair , I always see her working hard around there and I can say she's nice sometimes when she's not to busy . read more

I do not suggest that you give to this charity.Give to good will. I feel that They are much better for the community. I have given a lot to the morning star mission,not only with purchases but with furniture and other items, but when I had an incident with a purchase of a 5 disc cd player that didnt even open up or play, their policies were set up to screw the people that make up their mission. They say that they test their units before sale. They did not in my case, cause they sold me junk. I feel that they also knew this and did nothing to try and compensate the customer, which was myself. Their policies are very unprofessional for a mission that is set up to help people, rather than screw them. Also their prices are a lot higher than goodwill. Dont get me wrong, they may in fact help some people, but with policies like theirs, I tend to ask myself, just how much money that they make, actually goes towards people in need. They are also very ignorant people. At least the three people that I have spoken with. read more

This place has a great selection of books (and they display the "bestsellers" separately, which I appreciate), and trinkets. They also have a lot of furniture. From the little browsing I've done, the clothing and shoe selection isn't that great. But if you're looking for non-clothing resale stuff, this is a good place to check out. Great thrift store. They always run sales on certain colors. Nicely organized. Large book section. Tons of clothes and shoes. A lot of nice furniture. Furniture is a bit pricey, though.
