Morris Costumes was cool! They have a large selection to choose from and even Halloween decorations. I believe the store has been around for several years and I hope it doesn't ever close. They also rent tuxedos so it's not just a costume shop. I thought that was really cool and good to know. I ended up renting two costumes and they were super affordable. I'm so glad that they were because normally I definitely would not have been able to get two LOL. They have some awesome and super authentic costumes. Way better quality than the bag costumes you buy from party city. But if that's your thing, they have those too! Overall, great shop! I wish they had an easier way to "see" all the costumes, like a photo or something. There were some hanging and you just couldn't tell what they were. Also, not all of the costumes had pricing so that would be a helpful addition. Definitely will patron them again though! Great service as well! read more

Stopped in to get ballet shoes for my niece as she was having a recital. This store offers many different things from costumes, to dance recital clothes and etc. The lady who helped us was very nice & even made adjustments to my nieces shoes. We stopped by Morris Costumes to check out their Halloween selection. While Morris carried similar supplies and new, bagged costumes that other Halloween stores in the area have (and some they don't), we also found that they carry a HUGE supply of rental costumes for all occasions. When you want to dress up like a giant dalmatian and stand outside waving down traffic, this is the place to go. When you want to play dress-up-like-a-wench and have a wild night at home, this is the place to go. They have row upon row of rental costumes you can flip through and try on. They're open year-round, too, unlike most Halloween/costume stores. They also carry a large supply of decorations and props for your home to scare the trick-or-treaters or to turn your home into a Halloween graveyard for your spooky party. I was really pleased with the service and the selection at Morris. Aisles and aisles of outfits and costumes and creative things if you're looking to play dress up. And not just "set" costumes - there are racks of random items that you can mix and match if you want to try and put together your own outfit. Whether it's a priest, Elvis, Santa, a cowboy, a mafioso, Michael Jackson or Abraham Lincoln, they have everything you need to put it together including all of the accessories. Prices are very good - my complete outfit was only $35 for the two days I needed it. Don't feel like you have to do it on your own. The folks who helped me put my outfit together were complete experts and knew exactly what to get and what was in stock. What a huge load off my mind! My husband went for a tux fitting and had a terrible customer service experience. The company where the wedding party he will be in is ordering from listed this location as the closest place to get fitted. He showed up and the lady was very rude and told him "we don't partner with anyone honey" (even tho their store was listed) and that he needed an appointment. Told him to come back next week and make sure he brought a cash tip with him. Even though nobody was in the store. Needless to say he'll be finding the next closest location instead... waste of time and unpleasant. Understandable if they were in fact too busy but the way they handled the situation was inappropriate. read more

I bought one of Morris Costumes' products via a retailer (Target). It was the 3 moaning ghosts display. Really cool. Unfortunately, one of the ghost heads did not illuminate. I contacted Target who wanted me to disassemble it and ship it back to them (the whole thing). So, instead I contacted Morris Costumes directly and was stunned by the level of customer care they expressed. This seems to be a quite a rarity these days in business. Without question, Morris Costumes immediately shipped to me a working ghost head to replace the failed head. I got it within days and it works perfectly! I have been attempting for two months to get information on how to become a member in order to purchase props for our annual Halloween charity and community event. We have filled out the membership form at least three times. We have emailed, called, written repeatedly and NOTHING! I am so disheartened and hurt and frustrated by their lack of customer support. Was impressed with the variety on my first visit for a last minute Halloween costume. If it exists in costume form you're probably going to find it here! Walked in and it appears that there is no front desk or associates anywhere but in the back area near the rental desk. I perused the store and found l pieces here and there that worked to make a convincing Robin Hood. Once I reached the counter I was helped by Debbie who was phenomenal. Not only did she find some gauntlet style gloves that worked well with my costume, she even made suggestions that I didn't even think of. She pulled a Robin Hood hat out of the back and it was only $5 more for a 3 day rental. I'm sold! Great people, it's family owned and they have a great vibe amongst the staff. Don't expect the red carpet rolled out for you, but be polite and explain what you're looking for and you should leave with what you want. I'll be suggesting this place to all my theater and cosplay friends, great shop! read more

I'm not into the whole gore and blood thing which is pretty much what Morris seems to cater to mostly. I went here trying to find my 2yr old son a unique costume for Halloween and was greeted with a slew of gory animated characters at the door which I tried to hide from my son. I just don't think its appropriate at that age and wasn't expecting that to be the first thing we would run in to. I guess I should have known with it being a costume store the week before Halloween. Anyway we finally found the kids section but pretty much all of the costumes were the same generic ones you see at Party City or Walmart and not very many for toddlers either. The only one that we even thought about getting was $40 and we passed since neither one of us really liked it or thought it was very unique. I'm sure this store is great for adults or people that need costumes but from a parent of a toddler I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

I visit this Morris Costumes frequently, as my daughter is a dancer. However, this Friday evening, I just needed to pick up some jazz shoes. Didn't need to try them on, didn't need to ask questions. I knew what size and brand I needed. I waited a little over 10 minutes for service, as the woman who was working in the dance shoe department at the time went outside and was having a conversation with a customer. I was probably there 20 minutes in total, and she was outside the entire time talking, even after being paged twice. I've never had any issues here - never ever. Employees are always nice, very helpful, and quick to ask if you need service. Not sure what happened on this day but it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I'm a "up and coming" HMUA artist who is starting to dabble in special effects, and I needed stuff to kill some chicks for a shoot. I asked a few friends in the business where I should go for products, and this place was mentioned a few times, of course I had to go check them out. They offer huge assortment of dance apparel, costumes, and really anything you would need in this niche of the business, or even a Halloween costume. I talked to this amazing woman who showed me so much, and kinda put together a little starter pack for me to do this shoot. She didn't sell me stuff she thought I might need, and was genuinely interested and attentive with me. She was so awesome, and went as far as doing a demo with some of the products I was buying. She gave me lots of tips and tricks, and even took my business cards which I appreciated b/c as a freelance artist at this point work is attained word of mouth mainly. My 6 year son even chatted it up with another employee about magic (they also have magic sets), and Dead Mau5 who was all to kind keeping him occupied with conversation while I was getting my life together for this shoot. I am planning another trip b/c there are a few other items I'm gonna need to grab. While I can probably get things a little cheaper online, but it doesn't come with the service this place has, and I love to support local businesses. read more

I could probably spend a solid 8 hours in this place. They literally have everything your imagination could think of I think. And if they don't have the whole costume, they have all the supplies to make the one you want happen. My only visit just came about last week and of course it's near Halloween so the place was decked out with decorations of robotic scary zombies and the like. They have your standard costumes (pirate, etc.) and then some of the classic horror movie characters from some favorites like Friday the 13th, Saw, etc. I love horror movies so I was like a kid in a candy store quite frankly. This is my new stomping ground for dance wear and more importantly, dance shoes. With two kids in dance, it's always something since they're always growing. The little one was pretty frightened when she got up to the door and heard the fake humans on display for Halloween! You had to be there. The staff members are attentive and they always have what we need in stock. I was going to pick up some cheaper tap shoes at Payless only to find out that they were cheaper at Morris Costumes! Ok, my daughter was dressing to be Elsa for a Make a Wish event for a little girl. She ordered a wig on line and it was to small. I called ahead and they said they could help. The first two people int he place were not super friendly but then an angle came alone. she allowed us to try on a few and helped explain how to get the wig on. She was just so helpful we will be back for any future costumes. They do have a large variety or wigs and costumes for what I could see. Katrina was so helpful and pleasant and went ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure I got what I needed! Looking for a costume? They have ANYTHING you could possibly want-or have the pieces to put together the costume you desire! And they're so helpful! They have "fun" dress up clothes also for the women who want to surprise their lovah with a little outfit... and they have full-costumes of animals like Rabbits (think Easter Bunny), Santa outfits, a full isle of Medieval clothing (think Ren-Faire), etc. You can rent (half the store is rentable costumes) or you can buy! Every time I come to Morris costumes, I vow to never return, and this time I won't. They have the absolute worst customer service imaginable. Most of the other reviews must have been written by employees or owners, because they can't be true! My son and I were in there yesterday, prepared to drop a bundle of money on Halloween decorations and costumes for 4 people (I had $400 in cash and a debit card!). We left with 1 small decoration. One man did make an effort to help us, but it was obvious he knew nothing about the fog machines. He did, however, find out and come back and let us know. He was the only nice employee out of the 6 that we dealt with. One lady tried to make a joke about the toy chainsaw that my son was holding, but it came across as very catty and unwelcoming. The one behind the counter where the wigs were told us "you have to BUY a wigcap and you can only try on 3 wigs." (WHY?) First of all you should give away the wigcaps; how much can they possibly cost? Secondly, why can't I try on 4 wigs if I want? That's just arrogant and rude--very poor customer service. Then she told us we'd have to wait for another rep, even though she was just standing there doing nothing. The other rep walked past us 3 or 4 times, and never offered to help, even though we were obviously waiting. Another rep walked by on the outside of the counter several times, and never offered to help....I thought, "wow, are we invisible?" I never did get to try on the wigs. We went on to another rep--an older man with long hair. We asked him about where to find a Freddy Kruger hand, and he took a very quick look near where he was standing, then just walked away without a word and started helping someone else. When I approached him to ask again, he said, "I couldn't find one, but there might be one in the one of the costume packages--you'll have to look around." WHY? Why don't the employees even know what's in the store? Why not help me find it? Same thing with a question about the zombie makeup: "It's over there" (with a wave of the hand). There was not a very welcoming atmosphere in that store. No smiles or "welcomes"; no "thank you, come again." Just grab the thing, stuff it in a bag, and not a word. They all acted like they were unhappy to be there, and we were just bothering them. Sorry!--we are just the people who give your company money so they can stay in business and pay you! Most everything you could ever need in terms of costumes. Dancewear section seemed to be really good for young dancers but slightly less so for adults (couldn't find what I needed). Lots and lots of dance tights. Few leotards and other staples. Costume-wise: Plenty of makeup, costume accessories, and complete costumes to rent or buy. Kinda far for me on the NC/SC boarder but they never fail for their masks which are built very well. The good masks are prcey but you get the quality and craftmanship of real artist that take their time making them. They have price ranges for all at the store and it has been in business for years. After almost a month of Morris Costumes being unwilling to confirm return of an item, we had to enlist help from eBay upon which Morris now claims the box the item came in was damaged and the item was missing accessories (which was why it went back in the first place) and is contesting any refund. ($436.18 to be exact) These folks may be the only place to get higher end props but if you have to return an item be prepared to be stonewalled. read more
