It's a cool little museum but it's pretty expensive admission for one adult and one child was $30 and we were only there maybe an hour and a half and we kind of seen an experienced everything that said I'm glad we went and checked it out. Our trip to the Morrison Natural History Museum was a delight. My three- and five-year-old grandsons and I enjoyed our time here. We had a wonderful guide who was so enthusiastic about his job, sharing fascinating details. We were part of a group of adults for our tour since they join people as they arrive. We toured several rooms devoted to different Ages and the lab where someone spends hours working with a fossil/bone/footprint-filled boulder. After the tour, the boys enjoyed digging in the fossil pit. I highly recommend this museum! read more

We dropped in to this museum at the last minute as we were heading to Red Rocks to explore and I am so glad we did! We had the BEST TIME! From the moment we walked in, Mary Ann was so nice and talkative and welcoming. Then she did our guided tour and she is INCREDIBLE. You can tell she LOVES this job and is so passionate about it!! She had such great information!! I love her. And you can also touch real dinosaur bones in the museum. It's incredible! And she tells you "stick your head in their mouth for a selfie!" Kid friendly. Nice displays. Great guides. Fun details. Watching them chip out dino bones was fun. VERY small. This is not a museum with full sized t-rex displays. Expect a well cared for place where people are passionate about the place and the guests. read more

The admission price gets you an actual tour of the museum, and the volunteers are very knowledgeable. We came with a 2 y/o who really enjoyed the exhibits, but listened to less than half of the presentation. The volunteers are patient and helpful with every age child and adult. They just want you to have a good experience. I was wrangling the 2 y/old while my husband got to listen, but the visitors get to touch the dinosaur bones and teeth, look for fossilized footprints and analyze the footprints. Once we toured the building, there is a gift shop, a sand quarry to dig for your own fossils, and a chance to put on goggles and use a tool to expose fossils from rock. There are some areas to sit upstairs and out in the garden if you need a little time out. Parking is free right next to the building. I think you could visit several times and still hear or see something new. I recommend for kids of all ages. The iconic town of Morrison is close by, highly recommended for lunch or dinner or just to walk around. read more

Visited years ago and remembered thinking it was a small but cute place to visit. Visited again last weekend with the tour and it was even better! Our tour guide has great information and jokes! I was worried it would be a long winded thing but he did a great job giving tons of facts in a super fun way I can imagine kids loving it! Everyone we've encountered has been amazing. Very knowledgeable about dinosaurs and prehistoric life. One of the volunteers was the highlight and made the tour with my three year old toddler quite enjoyable. He was really able to keep my toddler engaged and didn't seem to mind the toddler interruptions that are bound to happen. He even entertained his questions at the end of the tour in their gift shop area by telling him the names of every dinosaur figurine that was brought to him by my toddler. Honestly pulled up thinking we'd be in and out in under 30 minutes, it looked so small. There is a lot going on in this museum! Every visitor was given a tour, up close access to the fossils and displays. Walt, our tour guide, shared fantastic details with us about each find, it's history and it's relevance. I wish I could remember the name of the young man who was our tour guide (he's in a few of our pics), because he was absolutely amazing! To begin, we found this place on a whim while exploring red rocks. Didn't realize until we got to the door that it was entry by reservation only, BUT, Doug, a curator, squeezed us in. The whole tour took about an hour and we learned SO much! Got to touch actual, REAL dino fossils and at the end, got to help, using their professional tools, to extract microfossils. My husband and I enjoyed it as much as our 10 year old daughter did. Very possibly the BEST part of our 4 days in Denver. 100% will recommend to everyone I know and will definitely come back! The gift shop is small but very adequate, and reasonably priced for souvenirs. read more

We haven't gone enough, but the kiddo is in love with this place. When she was a toddler, it was nearly impossible to maintain her attention - Goodness, it still is LOL - but everything they offered, from exhibits to the people who work/volunteer there, was incredible. The friendliness, warmth, kindness and genuine enthusiasm for the field of paleontology that the staff and volunteers exude is phenomenal! Getting the chance to meet and speak with childhood hero Dr. Robert Bakker was amazing and the generosity all the staff showed with their time and knowledge has left me in awe. Fantastic experience. Our tour guide, Alon I think (long hair with beard), was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. He even ran out to the car when we were about to leave and told us additional information about the state fossils of Connecticut and Minnesota. He even had topical jokes! Cute little museum with lots of fossils from the Morrison area. They don't mind if you touch the fossils which is nice and while the museum is very small they offer free guided tours. We had Phillip as our tour guid who was nice but was either really stoned or not very informed. When we left we passed another group with a female tour guide who seemed super intelligent and was offering great information. I guess it's all about you who get. There is also a large water lizard in a small tank inside which made me sad. read more

The area was at the vanguard of some seriously important fossil discoveries in the late 1800s and it's still revealing significant fossil finds; the paleontologists on staff will be happy to tell you all about it, and even to let you (or your kids) try their own hand at the delicate process of uncovering new traces. And it's hands-on! If you've ever wanted to put your hand in a T.rex's mouth just for fun (really, who hasn't?), or wanted to size yourself up against a full pteradactyl, you're at the right place. Place was fascinating and very interesting. Learned a lot. However, it says $9 to enter but was forced to sign up for tour. Lady said, everyone had to go on tour which was not true. Tour guy knew his stuff but felt as if I was in a classroom; he kept asking question after question and after 30 minutes of this, left group and went on my own. The volunteer was outside working in a bolder which had dinosaur bones in it. We talked and that was very educational and worth the trip. I would recommend this museum. read more

This is such a great museum! It's small but very comprehensive in scope. Very good tour guides can give all kinds of information. There are huge boulders full of dinosaur bones outside and a lab where you can dig for bones your self. There is an apatosaurus Ajax skull named Kevin and he is the only one ever found. The collection is world class. Perfect place for young scientists and anyone interested in dinosaurs. read more
