DYERS GROUNDSKEEPING SERVICES…read more When hired ($378.00) to do landscaping I explained what I wanted done (Yucca plants divided & replanted where indicated / Trump vineplant removed completely as it is very very invasive / old garden plastic removed from prior gardening / rocks & all foliage by rose bush removed saving & leaving rose bush / Rose of Sharon bush saved & left where it was / pebbles by back porch where rain dripped off porch roof) Yucca plants (2 of them) were divided & replanted (they even replanted one dead one - why ??) All foliage in the front & side of the house was removed, etc. I did state that all looked fine, but later I found out this was only done via 'weed wacker'. The Trump vineplant was only wacked down but NOT removed. Of course after the 'weed wacking' all looked great & when I questioned weed wacking I was told the company would come back to 'weed wack' (at no charge - wonder if this would be for a number of times each year) when growth reappeared but the 'Trump vineplant was NEVER physically removed (as I originally requested/ordered) & of course with spring/summer this invasive vineplant is growing back like "Gang Busters". I did pay them in good faith & feel that a good portion of the $378.00 should be returned to me. I am 79 years of age with arthritis & cannot do this myself (that is why I hired a local company). Now I will have to pay someone to do the work Dyers did NOT do. They may be great for cutting your lawn & weed wacking, but that is all. I have notified them of this unacceptable workmanship - nothing to date accept a brief message via Facebook.

Regret Hiring It was…read morea mistake to hire Avery and his crew, and I knew better and I am mostly mad at myself for hoping otherwise. In short, there was poor communication and lack of transparency on pricing and for love of thy neighbor and on principle I am writing this review. Avery had confirmed a meeting with me the week before they would start work. Mine is a big project and I know good planning always leads to better results. Well Avery never showed up for the meeting but did show up to start work. I should have sent him home because having him start work was just asking for trouble. More on that later. My original estimate to grade and seed around my barn went from $14K to just under $36K, more expensive than my stone veneer foundation and more expensive than putting in a new asphalt driveway. To be fair there were some extra charges for extra work; $300 for moving a wood pile & trunks, $1200 for additional grading & seeding, $100 to move some mortar and sand, $900 to bury a tree stump and $600 to move some stones. But what really got me upset was $6000 to spread out 8 truck loads of soil that cost me $6K to buy! When Avery and I discussed beforehand what needed to be done he was sorry to say I would need 8 truckloads of soil. Which I was happy to purchase from NY Crushings as they were going to remove my hard fill from my old foundation. Avery mentioned he would have to charge me for spreading the soil which I said I expected but what Avery did not say he was going to charge me $6k for something that took a day with 4 - 6 guys, non of which spoke English, with one driving a Japanese Bobcat and the rest raking out the soil. In addition, I asked Avery to grade my trenches, much like how he was grading my french drain trench which he said he would do but never said he would charge me an additional $4K for something that took little over 2 hours! If Avery had showed up to the meeting I could have avoided them messing up my berms and reseeding my destroyed lawns. The obvious choice was to just make a pile of debris next to all my other piles. Avery was mostly missing in action and though most of his crew was very good but spoke no English, they ripped up an electric conduit headed to the barn because Avery didn't realize the south side of the barn had already been fully graded. I gave Avery the choice to lower his bill by $6 by only charging $2K to spread my soil rather than $6K, and charging $2K to grade and seed my trenches rather than $4K. To be clear, Green Valley only used a total (8) 40lb bags of Scott's Landscaping seed for my whole project that at full price only costs $800, just over 2% of the total bill. In sum, Avery is less of a salesman and more of a con artist waiting to take advantage of you. Do yourself a favor and don't be a victim and find someone else to work on your home.

During each visit, someone was home and witnessed the technician make only one quick pass around the property before leaving. After the third visit, I complained and explicitly asked that they not return to the property. Despite this, another technician showed up and again made only two quick passes before leaving. Shortly after, we received an outrageous bill for over $400. At no point did an owner or supervisor come to the property, and if one did, I was never informed. To make matters worse, my calls have not been returned, and the owner will only communicate with my landscapers, as he handled this separately with them on the side. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially given the age of my parents and the lack of professionalism and accountability shown throughout the process. I would not recommend this company. I have written maybe 1 bad review that's how bad my experience was with lawn doctor of Kingston and I hope no one finds themselves as unhappy as my family was.

Absolutely nothing good to say about the Kingston/Poughkeepsie Lawn Doctor franchise. This is not a…read moredifficult business to run. Much of it requires skill with hiring seasonal workers and skill with scheduling. These are two skills that Andy, the owner, does not possess. I have a contract for treatments that I signed 5 months ago and he has only completed two. If you engage with Andy about this--or just about anything--especially scheduling, he reaches for his go-to line: the weather. Humid conditions? Precipitation? Excessive heat? No matter what the weather, Andy can turn it into an excuse. Ulster and Dutchess counties tend to have humidity, excessive heat, and precipitation during the summer. Waiting for it to be a perfect day to apply a treatment is like expecting every Yankees home game to be on a 70 degree and dry day. If you ask for an application date, he will not even give you a ballpark date. My guess is he bumps contract customers around all the time to accommodate last minute requests such as, "We're having an outdoor party this weekend. Can you spray this week?" The third skill Andy fails in is communication. He seems to enter into every conversation expecting a confrontation and is quick to interrupt or become belligerent. It's a shame he is not better at lawn doctoring, because for a low-investment service like lawn care, I would just use him for years and years and years. But that's not happening.
