I've come here twice and I haven't been disappointed yet…read more There's so many choices that it might be a bit overwhelming but everyone is very helpful with suggestions. If you want to try something new or if you want to stick by your old favourites, there's something for everyone. The first time I was here, I decided to try something new. I had the seitan platter which was the perfect introduction. The seitan was cooked in four different styles so it was great to see which type you like. The second time, I just had a seitan appetizer which looked like a good imitation of roasted duck but it had a smooth texture and it was flavoured well. Keep in mind that the portions after the appetizers are big. You can either share it or have some to yourself but regardless, there is a chance you might take some home. No complaints though. Both times I have ordered fried rice with different toppings that are mixed in with the rice. I love the way they make this because they don't cook it like other restaurants where they fry the rice and you feel bloated and heavy. Zen' drive is cooked perfectly so you don't taste that fried feeling and though you will get that filled feeling, you won't feel lethargic after. I also order tea both times. My recommendation is the rose tea. The teapot is so small and cute but you can smell the tea and it leaves you feeling relaxed. Side tidbit: the place is a legit house but they converted it into a restaurant. They kept some of the features like a fireplace that give it a cozy/homey feel. It is such a cute and ingenious way to go about a restaurant business.

IRating 4.5. had heard of this place from a friend. We were…read morein the neighbourhood so we stopped in for lunch. It is bright, clean and they have a wonderful menu of ALL vegan and gf food. Everything is made in house and nothing is deep fried and no refined sugar used.....so no guilt happy eating. They have an extensive dessert display and I had the peach crumble bar which was yummy! I shared the cauliflower wings with spicy sauce and arancini with cashew "blue" cheeze. Both were tasty and satisfying. I wanted the potato soup with coconut bacon but found it slightly bland and it just tasted like coconut chunks in the soup vs "bacon" flavour(likely seasoning dissolved off in the soup). I had the warrior "taco" which was basically a lettuce wrap. It was very tasty but difficult to eat snd messy. The sun dried tomato flavour was so good. I love lettuce wraps but need to find a clever way of eating it more neatly. Hubby and friend had the chickpea burger with baked sweet potato and regular fries. We all left satisfied and happy

My favourite vegan/vegetarian restaurant so far…read more I appreciate that they use real ingredients and abstain from refined sugars... I ordered the: 1. Falafel bowl: The tzatziki sauce tasted exactly like tzatziki sauce using yogurt etc. The falafels are baked and not deep fried. Con for me was the price - $16 is steep. 2. Pumpkin cheezcake: Absolute must get. I prefer this to regular cheesecake - sweetened with maple syrup. The crust is made from dates and maybe something else. The coconut whip cream is a nice substitute for the regular whip cream. GET THIS. 3. Oat cranberry walnut cookie: Get this - end of story 4. Double chocolate sweet potatoe cookie: This was a bit odd; It was not as satisfying as the oat cranberry walnut cookie. However, I still devoured it. Service: The ladies behind the counter were very helpful, and patient with me. The kitchen seemed a bit slow, given the restaurant was only 20% full. If I'm in Hamilton, I will definitely visit again.

Veggie Paradise specialises in Veg take-out (call ahead), Frozen/Dried meals and ingredients. I write "Veg" 'cause it may be even Vegan, as opposed to just Vegetarian. They also do custom vegan/vegetarian cakes/pastries. This place is run by 2 sisters and their workers. As soon as Sandra heard that I wanted something to eat, she prepped me with an Asian meal - as opposed to their other meals that are more popular amongst gwai-lo. Meal comprised of a soup (looked like Tom Yum, but not sweet/spicy), a separate plate with Rice, Bok Choy (chopped with garlic), & a portion of fermented Mustard Greens with Green Peas (this was medium spicy). The meal was tasty, yet rather homey as it wasn't overly salted. I really felt like I was eating at an aunt's house! This place is located in a rather industrial, catering to Vegans/Vegetarians (or people who just enjoy the occasional veg meal), so just call ahead if you want to order something! The sisters will even offer you a sample if it's available. :)

Freshii on Woodlawn took over a once beloved Quiznos in this strip plaza. As a person who is always…read moreon the go, Freshii strikes a great balance between healthy and natural food, but also food that you can grab and go if you're on a time crunch with lunch. Here's my rundown: Food The bowls here are amazing. I always order their top-seller, the Oaxaca bowl! All of the vegetables in the bowl are always so fresh and I can always count on them to make these bowls really fast. One catch is that the bowls are a standard base price and it costs more money to add on protein as the bowls do not come with a preset protein. Needless to say, I have been satisfied with not getting any protein add-on as the avocado is more than enough to fill me up. Their smoothies are packed with density and made with real fruit. One comment I have on their smoothies is the inconsistency with how they are made. The first time I ordered a Freshii Green from here, the smoothie was excellent, cold, and dense which are things that made the smoothies amazing. The subsequent times I have gotten the smoothies, they were lukewarm, and rather than being dense (consistency of yogurt), they were very liquid. This is my only complaint about their smoothies. Atmosphere The space is very welcoming and if dining-in, there's a lot of space to sit down and converse with company. Lots of lighting gets let in during the day, which keeps up the morale of the place. There's a typical Freshii green wall that adds on to the aesthetic as well. Service Service was very great! The employees are very attentive to assisting you and the food gets prepared very fast. Price Prices vary depending on the food you get. The bowls go for around $8-9 and the smoothies go for about $6-6.50. A little on the pricier end of fast food, especially if you want to add on protein to the bowls which adds at least another $2. Verdict Great place to eat lunch and get fast food, without the queasy feeling that typical fast food leaves you with. I'm only giving this 4 stars because of the inconsistency with making the smoothies. Other than that, I would highly recommend getting the bowls as they are a nice treat if you're into eating salad with natural and fresh ingredients.
