Paul called a few places and decided we should stay right down town at the Olde Main Street Inn. We were greeted with a free drink to "brush off the road dust" from Jeanne, the owner/bartender. Jeanne was very friendly and offered a pleasant stay! The room was very old with many antiques. Jeanne left the other rooms open so we can peak around and see the different styles of rooms. Have an open mind with the shower, since it wasn't a tub, more of a drain in the ground to collect water, but it does the trick! Jeanne made a very large and moist cinnamon bun and coffee! She also took us around the old diner (what used to be open) to see an original well. I recommend to stay here if you ever find yourself in Chadron, NE.

In a way, you sort of have to have an adventurous spirit to stay at the Olde Main Street Inn, but I…read morehighly recommend it! It is maybe the quirkiest place I've ever stayed, but it was really cool and I'm glad I stayed here instead of one of the chain motels in town. Jeanne, the inn keeper/bartender was very friendly (as was her mom!) and made us feel at home with a free drink to "wash away the road dust." I liked that. I'll probably never stay in Chadron again, but if I did I bet I'd stay here! The room was the cheapest one they offered at only $65 for the night and it was small, but comfortable. You can get suites up to $95 and they were much bigger and provide a kitchen and multiple rooms. The shower wasn't the greatest, but this place was built in 1890 and I don't think many updates have been made to it since then. For breakfast, Jeanne prepared these unbelievable cinnamon rolls. I ate almost two since my fiancee has been on a health kick.

My husband and I ended up staying at this hotel with our little girl dog for one night (for pets, up to two dogs or cats are allowed per room, with an 80 lb weight limit. The pet fee is $20 per night). We checked in yesterday early evening, around 5:15 pm. The employee at the front desk was friendly. Then after we got our hotel keys, we went back to our car and drove over to our room and were able to unload our car right in front of our room, which really is a nice feature (but please note that only those on the first floor have this option. There is no luggage dolly, in case you end up on the second floor). Unloading our luggage is actually from a back door entrance to our room, while there is also a front door that opens inside the hotel, which makes it convenient to walk over to the dining area for breakfast in the morning (breakfast is from 5:30 am- 9 am during the week days). We stayed in a double queen room (since the price was cheaper than a room with one king size bed). The room was clean. I did appreciate that there were plenty of towels in the bathroom and also liked that there was liquid bath wash, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. It is also nice that the base of the hair dryer does turn into a night light when the lights are off. There is also a mini fridge in the room, but please note that there is no freezer (I always prefer a freezer in the mini fridge so that I can freeze a few water bottles to keep my food in my cooler cold when I travel to my next destination). With our sleep, the mattress was on the soft side. I prefer a much firmer mattress. The breakfast we had this morning was a little disappointing, some of the breakfast items were cold or at room temperature and should have been hot. The breakfast has sausage patties, previously frozen egg omelets, yogurt, various breads, milk (but are not individual cartons, you have to pour the milk from a pitcher), cold cereal, instant oatmeal packets, make your own waffles. Overall, I felt that staying here for one night was adequate. But I would have preferred something better for a longer stay.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And yet this location microwaves their bacon and…read moresausage thus destroying any nutritional value. And then let's the bacon or sausage sit in a pan soaking in the nasty grease the entire time. You literally have to pat it dry with napkins to eat it. The biscuits for their biscuits and gravy have been hard everyday for the last 10 days of my stay. And the gravy they put in a plastic bag in a crockpot on high boiling absolutely disgusting! Eggs are premade and just reheated. I thought OK I'll eat some of the muffins, but even they are hard, nasty and stale tasting. The TV channel service constantly would freeze up couldn't even watch a movie without it freezing up every 5- 10 minutes even though they reset it. I could go on because there's definitely allot more. Staff was great. Review reflects quality of breakfast and maintenance on the owner's behalf.
