Loved staying at this campground! We were there for almost a week, and I really appreciated the…read moreamenities that they had. We were in a tent site, with electric which was handy. We weren't too far from the shared bathrooms which was great. What felt above and beyond were real amenities like the pool (which we sadly didn't end up using), a true general store with ice and other essential items, and the fact that they even did delivery directly to campsite for firewood (which was amazing!). In addition to that there was a playground for kids, mini golf, and corn hole. The only minor detractors were the highway noise nearby, which isn't really the campgrounds fault. There are signs saying engine braking isn't allowed on that section of the highway, but there was still a lot of engine noise from truckers throughout the night. Another detractor was the small size of the fire rings. It looked like they were old brake drums from a large truck. What made this challenging is that the firewood logs didn't properly fit, which made cooking over the fire challenging, but not impossible. This is personally my first experience with KOA, but I was so impressed I look forward to staying at more of their properties!

The park itself is spotless and well-maintained, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Beautiful sites with grass, tables and fire pits! One of my favorite features was the fantastic dog park and the convenient dog washing station--perfect for travelers with pets! The location is also great: it feels tucked away and peaceful, yet it's just minutes from town and right across the street from an amazing Mexican restaurant. Highly recommend this hidden gem. I had a pretty good experience here! We were staying near the Badlands for one night, and didn't…read morewant to setup and tear down a tent for such a short stay. Due to that we chose the 6 person Yurt, not because we needed the space, but because it was listed at the same price as the 4 person, so why not have more room for our toddler to run around! With the yurt being priced at $9/night more than the camper cabin with much fewer amenities I felt like it was an incredible value. The campground staff were also very friendly and informative. Here are my minor gripes that bring this down to a 4 star. Near our part of the campground there were only 2 Bathrooms, they were quite nice, and were completely separate 3/4 baths. But there were often lines, especially if one of them was being used for a shower. In addition to that the hinge style on the interior of the door was quite unfortunate. I'm tall enough where I hit my head on it multiple times. Secondly, when checking in the front desk workers hyped me up on ordering a pizza that they would deliver to my campsite. Unfortunately when I called in they said it would be over an hour and a half wait, that was a bit disappointing and I had to come up with other plans. Overall, a worthwhile stay. I've been quite impressed with KOA and look forward to continuing to explore their list of properties.

Myself and Franki stayed in our horse trailer camper. Dogs not allowed in Lodge rooms, but are in cabins which require a 2 night stay. We only have enough time away for 1 night. Really nice campground with electric. Full service campground also available. Was beautiful riding which we waited until after 5p to do. The organized rides stop then and we could ride without other traffic, and take Franki along. Dogs not allowed on the organized tour rides and rental horses. Was great experience and we are not into the trail riding thing. We 3 plan to ride tomorrow morning again for a short distance again.

That night we went to take a shower and they've got a coin box in the showers!!! $1.50 for 3 minutes. What a damn disgrace. No WIFI in the campgrounds and limited cell service too. Not to mention, as a Combat Veteran, this military "Fort" doesn't even honor our veterans with a discount at check in. Disgraceful!!! Absolutely disgraceful!!! Shame on you Nebraska. I'm checking out early and driving on to the Dakotas. Pretty sure they value Veterans.

While on our trip to the Black Hills of SD we had a long list of things we wanted to do. One was a…read morehorse back ride. We had seen a few places along our travels and a lot listed in the tourist guide. We chose Country Charm Cabins and Corrals based on the advice of John and Ann (proprietors at The Shady Rest Motel). This was a great decision. Owen and Lois (I hope I am remembering their names correctly) are awesome. They have owned this location for 12 years. Lois is a riding instructor. Upon calling and making reservations I was asked about our skill level and told exactly what to wear and what to bring. The ride time is 2 hours. Riders ride their own horses. My son who is 6 was on his own horse with a lead. We are inexperienced riders so we were given instruction on how to handle our horses. Each rider is given a bag to take with them for water and a camera. Helmets are required for children. My husband and I wore one as well. The trail takes riders on a lovely tour of some flat grassy areas and some hilly areas. Lois is fantastic about explaining plants, trees, history, etc. along the way as well as explaining the correct way to handle the horses. The only thing I wish I would have known is they do not accept credit cards. We had some cash on us but not enough for the 3 of us. We were willing to give them all the cash we had and stop by with the rest the next day. They offered to let us mail it. We loved this ride. My son loved when we were able to trot.

We were going to rent her camper that she had available, she was so sweet about it both times and refunded my money I had put down. We can go now but her camper was not available (only 2 weeks away) Barbie contacted her friend that has a camper and they are going to bring it in for us to stay in. I cannot express how grateful we are for her help and understanding. I can't wait to go camping without all of the setup . Also it saved us money and didn't have to stay at a hotel. It is so fantastic to find someone like her that went out of her way to help us out. There are good, kind people in this world and she is one of them.

The largest man-planted forest in the world, smack in the middle of the Sandhills. This is one of…read moremy favorite places in Nebraska because of the pleasant campground nestled among the Ponderosas and the nice walking trails, with many scenic vistas of the surrounding forest and Sandhills. The fire lookout tower is often closed, but if you ask, they'll usually give you the key to climb it. There's also a nice pool in summer. Docked one star for the frequent trains nearby.
