Very good experience for a cruddy situation. My vehicle broke down while traveling from Savannah, GA to Upstate NY. I had my baby, husband anddog with me and needed a place to stay while the local garage fixed my car overnight. Room was clean, bed was cozy, good shower pressure. This was impressive for being a "no frills" motel. It reminded me of the adventures I had as a kid while being on the road. No extra charge for the dog, great free coffee in the morning. This motel was nothing like reviews. I was overcharged for room and a barking dog kept me awake. Place was under construction and should not have been occupied. Dirty and nasty hallway floors. Bedding was not upgraded towels were thin. The lobby was stacked with building materials and should not have been accepting guests. Night manager was rude to me. read more

Totally meh. Turns out I stopped here 1-yr ago, the front desk agent was so excited to tell me. I was told the hotel was updated since my last visit & he was so excited to say he'd place me in the same room. Fine, whatever, I don't care... just wanna get off the road & sleep. Nothing was updated, at least in my room. Old fixtures, the room wreaked of chemicals, yet the floor didn't seem clean, old, cracked fixtures... not a big deal, cuz I just needed to stay 1-night & then get on the road 6am next morning. Still, in this Covid environment, the room didn't seem thoroughly cleaned... but... that's the norm when middle-eastern foreigners own the hotel. Sorry... but, I travel extensively... I know of what I speak, when 3-generations of 1 family work/live in the hotel... 60+ yr old folks don't thoroughly clean... fact. Good for a 1-nt stay, if you're looking for a place to sleep, then get on the road. The unclean filter in the wall a/c-heater will not allow you a great night's sleep due to musty aroma, nor will the fact that the bleedin' thing turns off & on all night long with a off-on-off-on clunk. If staying more than 1-day, pay $50 more & stay at another hotel... Choice or Hilton. If you don't care & just want to get off the road & save money, then stay here... stay here for no other reason. 2* out of 5. I'll be sure to avoid this place a 3rd time. read more

I stayed here twice. First time in July 27th and the room was decent and clean so I booked a room on my trip home on August 5th, this time the a/c never cooled the room and the manager charged me $20 extra. First the woman said I left the room fifthy. I was appalled at the idea of her statement so I asked to speak to the manager and she stated that he was out of the office for a half an hour. I requested a call back after waiting over 30 minutes. I finally called back and the gentleman that was put on the phone said that I stole stuff from the room, which I think he said the bedspread and I said that's absurd. I would never do that. I'm never stolen anything in my life. I said the only thing I could think of was the sub I had a made a few crumbs on the floor (day old bread) and there is no broom in the room to sweep up the crumbs. I don't recommend this place at all. I will never stay At any of Motel 6 locations ever again. I called corporate the day after I got back when I saw the $20 charge and they said the check into it and get back to me never heard back from them either. Do not stay this place. It's disgusting. 90$ for what looks like a really old motel that I believe the motel 6 may have purchased recently as their sign is about the only thing that is not out of date. We could barley lock the door as it didn't even close properly. This town seems to be a popular stop over place as most were sold out. As we have pets we ran out of options. The air/heater didn't work .. all the electrical between the two beds didn't work, no alarm clock nothing. I am very disappointed we didn't sleep in the car as I'm pretty convinced at this point our dogs now have fleas. Not impressed! read more

Passing through and needed a place to stay. Got on my smartphone and booked this place. The boy working the front desk was friendly and efficient. Fast and easy checkin. Beds were comfortable and the room was very, very clean. The bedspread seemed a little worn out. No big deal as I don't use that. I always travel with my own blankets. Overall, I was extremely impressed with this property. I think online I paid $60 plus tax. Well worth it! I've paid a lot more to stay in worse places. I highly recommend this location! read more

Do not stay at this place!!! I will be going down in the morning and file a formal complaint We fell asleep at 10pm and were awakened at 1am to a STRANGER attempting to walk into our room! He had a key and the door opened but the chain thing was on so it only opened part way! My husband ran to the door and the guy said he was delivering a pizza?! My husband said wrong room, Then he left... I called the front office and she said she accidentally gave that man (a guest as well) our room key he was supposed to be in the room UNDER us not Our room! She apologized and explained it was an accident it's only her third night alone and she gave him the wrong room key! It really doesn't matter I understand human error but they need to make sure people are trained properly! I mean that is the most insane thing I've ever had happen! Not only is it a safety issue for my family and myself it is a safety issue for the man she gave the key to! I am shocked this happened and not sure how the system would allow that! Of course my husband and I couldn't get back to sleep and any sleep we did have was fitful and light! I should have just packed up and left the moment we were about to lay down and I felt like the bed had a really strange smell almost of urine it does not feel sanitary! I am so happy we only were staying for one night just to finish our journey but never again! A puddle of water was in front of our door so our feet were wet every time we walk in. read more

I found myself stranded in the Hillsville/Galax area with a disabled truck for a night. I opted for the Motel 6 due to cost. IN THE PAST, I normally avoided motels (with room doors that open to the outside) because they are often run down, tired, noisy, etc. - especially when traveling with my family. This visit changed my opinion! At check-in, the clerk (Mary, I think) was friendly and empathetic about my plight. She provided me with toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, etc.) and offered me a cup of coffee. Show your room key at the Shoney's next door for $2 off their buffet. The room was super-clean and nice. The furnishings were in good condition, as was the carpet and paint. There was a good selection of channels on the clear TV (no static). The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were good too. The door closed securely with no gaps around it. Several people came and went from nearby rooms (based on the cars), but I never heard the first one. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were good too. This place is quiet! The next morning, the day clerk (didn't catch his name) offered me coffee and wished me good luck on getting my vehicle repaired. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and strongly recommend it. read more

I usually shy away from the Motel 6 brand. Due to the fact many of their places are not really up to good standards. They were a big thing back in the 80s and 90s but kind of lost their thrust of affordable clean and comfortable rooms. I will say this one in Hillsville was a big surprise. It actually has very good cleanliness standards. It also was pretty modern and had been remodeled. Where they fail at is the swimming pool was totally out of commission. Also they stated they give a continental breakfast which was not at all being done here at this location due to covid-19. I feel a lot of motels are really using this covid-19 thing a little too long. Couldn't really see where they had the room to do a continental breakfast in the office. The pool look like it might be good if it would have been open. They state their rooms are very quiet that is definitely true. Even though if you want a king bed most of those rooms face the major interstate. Have to say if this place is the cheapest around you won't be disappointed resting your head here. However there is some very nice looking motels right around this one. The Holiday Inn Keeper behind this one was very nice looking. The Comfort Inn was also very nice looking. And the Hampton Inn in front of this one was probably the best looking one in this area. They have all of their amenities still going. But I have to say this place does offer good hospitality. The front desk people did everything I asked of them. So this place does leave the light on for you. But be advised some of the amenities listed may not be operational here. So when evaluating price point you may want to consider some of the other options. Will definitely give this place my three C's. That is great customer service, cleanliness and decent cost-effectiveness. May God bless America during this terrible time in American history. Very inexpensive ($50) and large clean rooms. Pets stay for free. Good water pressure in the shower, nice outdoor pool. Friendly staff. Although they advertise a free breakfast, they actually give a two dollar coupon to the Shoneys right next-door. This brought our breakfast buffet down to $7 a piece. read more

Me and babe had a good time there yes no complaints........... until I took him to work around 3 that morning and came back around 9 when I came back to get my deposit of $50 the guy was like there is a sheet missing I was like what so he takes us to the room that we slept in last night the bed sheet THAT WE SLEPT ON was gone for some odd reason. I was a travel agent and have been to some of the world's best properties and now as a senior, retired pet owner I appreciate it when I get what I really want on the road- a clean, comfortable, pet friendly room with wifi, fridge, microwave and very good bed for a very fair price. read more

Stayed here in their King room and I must say, this is one of the nicest Motel 6 I've ever stayed in and that bed, OMG, simply the greatest.

For the $60 hotels.com price, this place was perfect. It was a quick sleep stop for us in a long trip. We arrived at 11pm and left by 8am. The parking lot would suggest we had neighbors, but we didn't hear any noise. The bed was comfortable, sheets and towels were clean. Water was hot with pretty good shower pressure. The air conditioner was old and never shut off but it kept the room nice and cool. If you are a light sleeper it would probably keep you awake. The front desk clerk was pleasant. The area felt safe. We did not have any problems or concerns with our stay. The room had tv, microwave and mini fridge; however, we did not use them. There was no continental bkfst, but McDonald's was across the street and Shoney's was close. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this motel. First of all, it is very well lit and very nice looking, especially the entrance. I was absolutely floored to discover that they have parking (near the well lit office) specifically for motorcycles, which is very important because bikes often get stolen. ( I have been to many hotels in my life and have never seen dedicated motorcycle parking). When I arrived, I was quite cold, having ridden with my visor up for the previous 30 minutes. The gentlemen on duty, who I subsequently learned was the owner, offered to make me a fresh pot of coffee. I wanted to hug him. The room was very clean, very nice looking, and the bed was incredibly comfy (I had stayed at a different Motel 6 the night before and the bed was incredibly hard. These are just right). In the morning, I had the pleasure of speaking with the other desk clerk and she told me how the employees take pride in their work, and how everybody likes working here (which, having worked in a hotel before, you don't hear very often). Their positive attitudes absolutely show. I would have given this place 10 stars if I were able to. read more
