Bugs found in our room. After complaining about it we were accused of making it up to get a discount on the room. See full review.

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. When we arrived everything looked great, room seemed clean at first glance, great selection of channels on the TV. Then I wake up at 4am the first night there and find a large black beetle running around in the bathroom. After checking the internet to confirm it was not a cockroach, I got rid of it and was willing to let it go. I can deal with a bug or 2 if they are not cockroaches or bedbugs. Soon after that, my girlfriend woke up and found a Roly poly in the bathroom. Then found multiple others. Also upon closer inspection of the corners of the bathroom there were dead Roly polys in every corner, along with what looked at the time like insect droppings. I later determined that it was probably coffee grounds, so obviously the bathroom was not cleaned properly after the last guests left. Then we found a millipede crawling around on the wall along with more Roly polys. It seemed like every time we collected a bug either dead or alive, more took its place. By the end I had found almost 15 bugs, both dead and alive. I gathered them in the ice bucket and brought it to the front desk around 530 for the first time. The guy who was setting up breakfast and manning the front counter said there was nothing he could do about it and I had to talk to a manager who would be in between 830 and 9. He also said it was normal for bugs to come in from outside. I am aware of that and as I said I can deal with a bug or 2, but not 15. That is considered an infestation. Went back at 845 to eat breakfast and the manager was still not in when we checked out at 930. I had the bug filled bucket with me but the guy at the front desk never asked to see inside. I informed him I was taking the ice bucket with me so I could bring it back and show the manager later. I left my number and he promised that he would have her call me as soon as she got in. 1230 rolled around and I had not received a call so I called to see if she was in. I was told she was out sick and would call me on Monday. This happened on a Saturday. The young guy on the phone then went on to accuse me of making it up to get a discount on the room. He also said that as soon as I took the ice bucket off the property all my claims meant nothing, as if I would plant the evidence. He said people went to look at the room and didn't find much (of course they didn't find much, I have all the bugs with me). He said the exterminator was there this week spraying for bugs and that's why we found all the dead ones (also found many live ones so they apparently didn't do a great job). That also doesn't explain why the coffee grounds are all over the bathroom or why the dead bugs were never cleaned up before we rented the room. In the end after being accused of trying to scam them to save a few bucks, I'm no longer interested in a discount on the room. I've decided to leave reviews everywhere and upload pictures wherever possible.  No one goes to a hotel and expects to find bugs alive and dead all over the place. If it does happen, it needs to be handled far differently than this. We were booked for 4 days but checked out after the first night because we could not stay there another night. We found another hotel across the street (comfort inn) that costs a few dollars more but is much nicer and thankfully bug free. Stay away from quality inn hillsville. Customer service is terrible and the place seems to be filled with bugs (If one room is, more probably are).

was given the first room, smelled like pot so bad there was no way I was having my 80 year old momma stay in it. Plus there was red and blue looked like sticky candy all over the duvet. Went to the front desk, spoke with the lady that was the assistant manager Rachel F. She apologized, blamed it on the cleaning staff. So I got a second room, walked in, same thing but worse. Found a joint, and the housekeeping key in there. Went back to the front desk, she apologized said that room was a DIFFERENT cleaner. Gave me a 3erd room, it was decent. At first, then found bugs in the bathroom. Bathroom floors were nasty. I put the sign on the door for no cleaning, the cleaning crew came in anyway. Took a few of my dirty towels, and didn't bring any clean. Went to the office, same manager, apologized. I've stayed, as well as my family at this hotel off and on for over 20 years, and have NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS!! I'm very disappointed.

Put the "Q" in Quality Inn.

Great room! Nice quiet and very clean. Small pool (great for some relaxation). Breakfast looked great. Got there at 9:25 and had the food snatched up infront of me without a word. Good thing I just wanted a bagel. Customer service at breakfast time is awful! I will stay again based on the room cleanliness alone.

Dirty wall next to bed.

The pet fee of $15, which is declared at check in, is really reasonable.

Our normal route and hotel in Asheville was not possible due to damage from hurricane Helene. Upon our arrival at the hotel an employee handled the check+in of our reservation. She was not very welcoming and kept conversation to a minimum. Since we normally stay at a Holiday inn I wasn't sure of what was part of the overnight stay. I had to ask if there was a complimentary breakfast and then had to ask the hours. Since we hadn't eaten all day we also wanted to go back out to pick up dinner. We asked about the location of a Subway Restaurant and she said it was twelve miles on the other side of the Interstate. Next ,"what else can you recommend'? No answer. We went to our room and decided to make do with drinks and snacks we had brought with us. The bed was extremely high and if I was sitting on it my feet were at least a foot off the ground. The mattress creaked and made all sorts of noise if I rolled over. If I got too close to the center of the bed there was a dip that you fell into. I also noticed several pink drip stains on the bottom sheet and towards the foot of the bed a long black hair. I decided to sleep in my clothes so as to not make contact with the unknown. In the morning I had to pass on a shower because the only handicap grab bar was mounted inside the shower/tub on the far wall. There was nothing to hold onto to assist in climbing over the tub wall. Breakfast was minimal and the employee working the breakfast buffet said she would be putting out more sausage. She also volunteered to refill the muffins. Neither thing happened in the half hour that we waited. My husband had a plain bagel and cup of coffee. I had a cup of coffee, a cup of orange juice, and a banana. Not much breakfast to write a glowing review of. (This was at 7:45 am and the breakfast was supposed to be available from 6 am - 9 am) I did watch a later customer make a waffle. Needless to say on our return trip we will find someplace else to stay. Me thinks not on staying here again!

Our experience was less than positive so we decided on the way back to stay at the Holiday inn in Hillsville. This was definitely the correct decision. It is not a large Holiday Inn but it is quite comfortable and clean. The parking lot has very few handicapped parking spots but with having a nice drop off location at the front door is an alternative to assist the handicapped customers. With the snow and ice that was taking place my husband opted for a parking spot that would be away from any vehicles that may slip on the ice. We initially checked in to whatever room the front desk assigned. After checking out the room my husband went back to the front desk to inquire if there were any handicapped rooms available. Since we had not used the room the reassignment was readily handled. Our new room was quite comfortable and easy to navigate with the spacing and hand rails. We learned in making the request that this hotel has four handicapped rooms available. The complimentary breakfast was quite good and there were plenty of cafe style tables to sit at. There was also a high top table with stools for people that prefer that seating option. In addition to the breakfast we were told there is coffee/tea available in this area 24/7. We definitely will make this our go to hotel when traveling this route to the coast of NC.

Unfortunately, their stove was out of commission and could only offer bag breakfast. The bags contained cereal, muffin, and a bottle of water. Milk and apple or orange juice upon request.
