On July 2nd he had a medical emergency and was Air Evacuated from Moscow, ID to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA. for a brain bleed. The following day he had brain surgery to relieve the blood pressure on his brain. He was released on July 6th and I drove him home to recover. He was under Doctors orders to not travel for a bit, after getting home. I called and cancelled 2 of the 3 hotel bookings he had made for his reunion trip. I called the BW Shelby Inn but the manager refused a refund because it was a non- refundable booking and that was their hotel policy. I talked to the Best Western Corporation and they just passed along the hotels decision to not refund the paid amount, and did nothing beyond that to help solve the issue. They did tell me that it should be booked as a refundable booking next time, and it would eliminate this kind of issue. To me, this additional dollar amount, for a refundable room is a bogus way to extort additional money from people. I was greatly disappointed since this was a medical issue that we had no control over, and not just cancelling for no reason, or changing plans. You can be sure that my total family will never plan to stay at the BW Shelby Inn & Suites location in the future. I'm also not pleased with Best Western's overall response to this, and lack of customer support.

If you need to get off the road to sleep, you can do that here. At the bottom of the hill is a kind of truck driver store. Lots of driving paraphernalia in case you need it. (I was grateful they had phone chargers after mine gave out.) In Shelby proper there's a nice Albertson's grocery store. Staff here also recommended a Dollar Store in the other direction. After 12 hours of travel we didn't want to pack everything up again, pull in the slides and re-hook the fifth wheel (I'm sure fellow trailer owners will agree). We asked for a partial refund and was told he would check. We never heard back and had to follow up again in the AM and were told NO. Had we known they wouldn't even do a partial refund after their mistake, we would have moved. So sad to see a company no make right THEIR mistake. They have lost our business the few times a year we come through!

My only complaint is the curtain does not rest against the window enough to block all day light. I am pretty sensitive to smells. The room had no oder to note which is great. The only reason I left off a star was for the window. Hotel rooms are for sleeping and the light coming through does not aid in the sleeping process. (For me at least. ). I would return. I could touch the popcorn ceiling in my bare feet without standing on tip-toes to do it and I'm just 5'10". There's a phone in the room that looks like one I remember from a 1970's episode of Baretta. The bathroom is in the closet. Or is it vice-versa? Anyway, the woman at the check-in desk was quite nice and showed us quite a large array of DVD's we could watch for free and just leave them in the room. Definitely different. Decent location near Amtrak, especially considering this is a town with no taxi service, so you have to schlep your luggage everywhere once you get off the train unless you know Bob.

Exceptional customer service, as the front desk lady went out of her way to get me a corkscrew. They didn't have one in the building, but she took my bottle, ran across the street to her friends at the bar, and opened it up for me! So nice! I really appreciated that! If i could make one suggestion for the Crossroads Inn, i would say maybe get some apples or bananas added to the (FREE!) Continental Breakfast menu. The bagels and muffins and donuts and cookie bar things were really good, I just think it's better to start the day with fruit. You know? Also - the TV in the room was really really small, but i don't feel right complaining about that. It worked perfectly, and there was a million channels, so it's all good!

The owners/managers were a really nice couple who were attentive to our needs. We took their advice and had supper down at the Dixie inn. If you reserve online ask for room 12 or 16. That will get you above the houses and you can see the Sunset over the mountains. In short :Good price, clean rooms, restaurants close by, WiFi YEP! I would be happy to stay here again.

The mattress needs replacing and the upholstered rocker was broken listing to one side badly. The TV was 1990's vintage or older. In addition, the lights to the bathroom and sink area immediately adjacent to the sleeping area were on a single switch, so if you need to use the light for the bathroom late at night, you are sure to awaken anyone sleeping in the bed. Add to all this you are 2 blocks to the railroad line, so you get serenaded with trains much of the day and night. I don't know if you can do any better in this town, but it is worth a look.
