Our second child just potty trained, and so we sadly ended three years of having Mother Nature's deliver diapers to us. Though service has improved significantly over the last year, we always found them to be fantastic: the diapers are top-notch, service is reliable and responsive, and not having to wash poopy diapers is priceless. For our first child, we chose Mother Nature's to try to decrease the environmental impact of diapers. For our second, we desperately needed cloth diapers because our daughter has eczema and would break out the second we put her in disposables. In both cases, Mother Nature's served us very well. Here was our own experience: -The diapers were in great condition and the right size with both children, all the time (even when we had two sizes being delivered for different children). If you need a new size, you need to give them a week's notice to change out diapers. This seems completely reasonable to me, and since children don't change diaper size in a day, really shouldn't be a problem for anyone. -You get the number of diapers you have agreed to get from them. If you received fewer diapers than you expected from them one week, its because you forgot to return a bunch of diapers to them the week before. We used to keep a stash of diapers at our children's day care and then a stash at home: this meant that there were always 4-5 diapers that we did not return, and so after the first week of service, we never received the full number of diapers we had ordered through Mother Nature's--because, of course, we already had some of those diapers waiting at the day care! -We travel a great deal, and we never once had a problem with pausing the service while we were gone. We also always had fresh diapers waiting for us on our return, just as promised! This was literally never a problem over three years of service. -You cannot call Mother Nature's and have someone pick up the phone immediately. If you call or send an email, you will hear back from them usually within about 4 hours, but always within 24 hours. Their communication has improved markedly since the change in management, and I give them big points for this. So, as another reviewer says, its absolutely true that the service doesn't have 24-hour communication with it customers. This is a small, locally-owned business, and the owner works, as far as I can tell, about 18 hours a day. He calls back, but he doesn't always call immediately. I suppose this could be frustrating for some people, but I don't expect or need my diaper service to be on call. I've never had, and can't imagine having, an emergency to which they need to attend. As long as I give them a few days' notice of any changes I want, they have always come through, every time. (The amount of time they need to make various changes to your service is posted on their Web site). Our experience with Mother Nature's has been truly wonderful. Our diapers have been delivered through rain, wind, snow, everything. Our children have had healthier bums because we used the service, and we didn't have to deal with the diapers ourselves. We've enjoyed the monthly magazine that comes with the diapers. And, we supported a great local business. Im so grateful that Madison has this service, when so many larger cities do not, and I recommend them with no reservations to all of my friends. read more

I love Mother Nature's Diaper Service. We used them for both of our children from birth to potty training, and for 4.5 years, they have been a weekly presence in our life. The diapers are the right size, the sizes and quantities are easily adjusted from week to week by simply making a phone call, the wraps for rent are in good condition, the deodorizer discs work, and the pick up and drop off is smooth and efficient. We often forgot to put our dirty diapers out (because we are sleep deprived and forgetful), and we could just drop them off at the diaper service any time later that week, which worked well for us as they are centrally located and convenient to our home and work. The cost is not too high, and our calculations suggest that we would have been paying more per month for disposables than for this service. The convenience cannot be overstated: for new parents, the decision to cloth diaper may also mean the decision to soak, wash, pH correct, rinse, and dry diapers at least every other day. That was a significant time burden for us, when taken together with a new baby and 2 working parents, and seemed to be a real obstacle to cloth diapering. This service is truly the way that we were able to cloth diaper. Our babies had very little diaper rash, and their daycare settings were cloth diaper friendly and agreeable to learn to use the trifolds and wraps. There are no pins; you do not need them, and can buy for $5 a set of 3 plastic snappis at Nicki's Diapers or Happy Bambino (or even Amazon) that hold the trifold diaper together very snugly inside the wrap without risk of injury to the baby. My experience with the service has been outstanding. Initially, we didn't even know how to fold a diaper to when to change it, and the paperwork and descriptions that came with the first delivery went a long way to explain the diapering process, with pictures to follow and detailed instruction. Rick is great to work with; he often does not answer his phone, but the voicemail on the phone line for the business seems to be answered every day. If I didn't need a call back, i learned quickly to just leave a detailed message the day before my delivery and pick up, and the requested changes always happened. I could also leave notes taped to the bag of dirty diapers, and it never failed. Rick and his team are easy to work with, responsive, and friendly. I have used Mother Nature's Diaper service for both my kids, from birth through potty training- so for a total of about five years. I am a busy, working-outside-the-home mom, and what I always tell people is that I'm a lazy parent. If it isn't genuinely EASY, I don't do it. I would simply never have washed diapers. And Mother's Nature's made cloth diapering easy. In fact, I think it's easier than disposable in that I didn't have to go to the store and run errands to buy diapers. On snowy days, in freezing weather, the diapers are there for you. Service- always exceptional. Someone comes to your house and picks up all the dirty diapers, you don't have to deal with it other than flushing the poop (once it's toddler-level flushable) and washing the wraps (we just threw them in with all the laundry and hung them to dry). And clean diapers magically appear on your doorstep. When I needed fewer diapers on a given week, or a vacation week, or a change in diaper size, all was handled efficiently and smoothly. I didn't use their wraps- I bought wraps from a different store, so I can't comment on those. I have found that different wraps fit different butts, and sometimes it takes trying a few. Doing its job- once we got the right wrap, I found it contained messes better than disposables. Time to put them on- we used the prefolds, not the insert-type. I have had races with friends using disposables and won. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy and fast. It does take a week to get the hang of it. Hygiene- In five years of use, my kids did not ever get diaper rash from a wet diaper. I don't know how they do it, but however they wash those things is amazing. Whenever people tell me that they're just too busy for cloth diapers, I ask them to just try Mother Nature's. read more

We've used Mother Nature's Diaper Service since my daughter was born, and we've just canceled the service on her second birthday because she's doing so well with potty training that we don't need them anymore. We went with this service after deciding that, realistically, we could not manage home laundering, in part because our daughter's room is nowhere near a bathroom, so rinsing/emptying diapers was impractical. The service was great - for about the same amount of money as disposable diapers ($70-something per month for newborn, $40-something at 2 years old), we've had the wonderful experience of having our diapers magically appear on our doorstep as scheduled (no trips to the store at inconvenient times), and a disposal process as easy as disposables (just drop them in the bin). Early-potty-training alone justifies any added trouble and expense of cloth diapers, if you ask me!!! We rented our diaper covers from them, though some people buy them; apparently, a lot of people get by with only four diapers covers, but we needed 8. Incidentally, our day care was great about these; we brought back a bag of dirty diapers each night to add to our home diaper pail (and wash any dirty covers). As much as we believe in cloth diapers, we were not fanatical about their use - when we travelled, and during the period in which our daughter was peeing through her diapers each night, we used disposables; but we loved using cloth diapers and this service, as they were a great fit for our lifestyle and our preferences. read more

We had a wonderful experience using the diaper service. For three months while our baby was between 4-7 months we used the service. Before and after that time we did our own laundering of diapers, we already had all the cloth diaper supplies, we used Mother Natures because of a baby shower gift we received and then continued to use them over the holidays. I had no problems with any aspect of the service. Customer service: Everytime I called to ask questions or change the order, I talked with a courteous and friendly person right away or they called back to confirm the change. Diapers were consistently dropped off and pick up on time. Diaper quality: The diapers were always very clean, soft, and in good condition. We never had a problem with rashes or a mix up in our order. Also, no pins. Cloth diapers now use these things called snappies. They are super easy to use with the folded diapers and baby or fingers never get pinched. Company: They ran a food drive over two of the weeks and we were able to leave food for a local pantry to be delivered, I thought this was wonderful. Pricing: The cost is about the same as using disposable diapers. I think is is a fair price for the quality of service you are getting and not having to launder your own diapers. I would definitely use Mother Natures again. Especially for the first few months of babies life as you go through so many diapers and during that time who wants to do laundry every 2 days! Mother Nature's Diaper Service has been such a blessing to our new little family. We purchased cloth diapers in anticipation of our baby's arrival. We were pleasantly surprised when several family members got together and graciously gifted us several months of Diaper Service from Mother Nature's. We set up the service and loved how fresh and clean the cloth inserts were. As our gifted service was ending, I called Dan to extend our service. Dan was always available to chat on the phone and prompt to return my calls. He did a fantastic job explaining the services they offered. I live in the country, and Dan helped coordinate dropping off the diapers at my mother's house in the city. He had a solution for everything. Occasionally a nice note would accompany our fresh diapers. One note mentioned that MNDS offered reusable swim diapers and new cover designs. I emailed Angela to find out more. She has always been so delightful, helpful and professional. She special-ordered an adorable Barn Yard themed cover and delivered it with our fresh diapers the following week. MNDS has allowed my husband and I to enjoy our new baby and parenthood, without worrying about diapers. They take on the dirty work- literally! I disagree with Summer D.'s review. Yes, they are the only game in town but they are committed to their cause and I've only ever had very good service from them. When you call it typically goes to voice mail but I always receive a call back from Rick the owner and he is always very responsive, courteous, and prompt. It's a great local business plus you can't beat having diapers delivered right to your door! The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 is because their method of figuring out the number of diapers you need each week could be better communicated to customers. While you may sign up to receive 40 diapers a week, if you continually return fewer than 40 dirty diapers, they will then reduce the number of clean diapers delivered. They don't alert you of this change which I think they should. I would prefer to receive the number I pay for even if I don't always use them all. I would often run out early only to realize after counting the number of diapers delivered that the number given to me was fewer than I expected. A simple phone call resolves the situation but it did recur and seems there ought to be either better communication or a new system worked out. read more

I used Mother Nature's for both of my children until they reached an age/size that didn't require sizing up every few months. This was at 1 year for my daughter and 9 months for my son. The diapers were always clean and on time. Rick was happy to make changes at the last minute. The billing was always fair and accurate. Furthermore, the service adjusted the number of diapers delivered each week based on our actual needs (i.e. how many dirty diapers were in the bag each week), and this was one less thing I had to think about, which is lovely for a new mom! I did early potty training with my kids, and the service was fine with delivering fewer diapers and billing less. Sometimes I would forget to leave out the dirty diapers, and Rick would knock on my door and patiently wait for me to bring them out. I found him to be immediately responsive, accommodating, and professional. Having clean diapers delivered to my door each week by such nice people made me feel supported. This service is wonderful because it saves parents money and sanity and keeps diapers out of landfills. I highly recommend it. read more

I'm not sure what is happening here with the reviews, i see a lot of really great feedback and one terrible description which doesn't match our experience at all. Mother Nature's provided us with diapers for our first child from 2006-2008, and we are using them again now with our second child, and have been for the last year. I don't have a single complaint. The service is good, predictable, and I prefer to work by email--which they have always responded to. They have delivered extra diapers on the weekends when we needed them--our issue, not theirs. With a quick email or note on the diapers they have delivered wipes, swim diapers or adjusted our order for the following week. Everyone I've ever talked with has been pleasant and accommodating. The diapers are in great condition--and it's been a dream. The only reason I want to be done with MN diapers--is because I'm over changing diapers! ;) Happy to recommend Mother Nature's. There isn't anything they could do to improve the experience we've had. read more

This is my first review and I think it will appear as my husband but I had to give a shout out to Mother Nature's Diaper Service. I use the premium inserts, with my own Flip brand hook and loop covers. I strongly recommend these covers and purchased quite a few of them while doing all my cloth diaper research. My little guy is exclusively breast fed and we have never had a leak or blowout with this combo. My son was 4 weeks early and I started our cloth adventure with Imagine brand newborn AIO and picked up the service when he was around 8-9lbs. It has been a wonderful experience. Rick is great, super helpful and very accommodating. The fact that you don't have to rinse or wash and receive a fresh batch of diapers at your door weekly is worth every penny. Since I started with AIO's and washed at home I can say with 100% certainty that I am making the best decision for the environment and our family going with Mother Nature. read more

We strongly recommend Mother Nature's Diaper Service as a cloth diaper service! The weekly drop-off / pick-up service to our home in Stoughton has been very convenient and reasonably priced. Angela came to our home to give a tutorial on how to use the cloth diapers, which was awesome. She has been very easy to communicate with via e-mail or phone as our daugher's diaper needs have changed over the past two and a half years. We particularly like the Best Bottom Training Pants, which are pull-ups with a cloth insert. Angela helped us order a half-dozen of these, and they're great as our daughter is potty training and getting used to big-girl pants. It's important to us to help take care of the environment, and were very keen to avoid sending many disposable diapers to the landfill. Using cloth diapers from Mother Nature's Diaper Service have been an important way to do our part. read more

We used MNDS for 2 1/2 years and had an excellent experience. The quality and cleanliness of the diapers was always good. The company was helpful and flexible when I needed to suspend service for vacations, etc. MNDS made using cloth diapers extremely easy -- no soaking, no washing, no driving... And I thought the prices were very reasonable, in fact better than I expected when I looked into the possibility of a diaper service. As a full time teacher, it was the only way I could have done cloth. It's true that it's hard to reach a person to talk to. However, whenever I left a message, I always received a prompt and courteous reply, and/or they made the changes I requested for the next week of service. I have recommended Mother Nature's to my friends in the area who are considering cloth diapering, and I recommend them to you as well! =) read more

We have been utilizing Mother Nature's for 5.5 years through three children and have found them to be great. The diapers are wonderful and there really isn't any smell so long as we regularly change the deodorizing disc in the pail. I did find it helpful to have more than just 4 diaper covers, since my kids could dirty four of them in a single (bad) day. As far as service, Mother Nature's has been wonderful and reliable. They are very flexible with vacations and adjusting delivery levels when we get a backlog. Rick typically answers when I call about changing the order, but when he doesn't I always hear back within an hour (I typically call during the day). I definitely recommend Mother Nature's and will certainly use the service again should more children come my way. read more

We used mother natures for 2 years and were pretty satisfied with the process, especially since our son potty trained by 2. The service ends up being around $2 day which is probably cheaper and easier than washing yourself. Issues that we had were when our son had diarrhea and needed extra diapers. We were a Monday delivery so we had to call to request on friday, but issues always happened on the weekends. This occurred 3 times in the course of 2 years. But as a parent, there are always disasters you have to deal with.once I called n the weekend, they made a special delivery on Sunday. We never had a diaper rash, potty trained early, never used nasty disposables, and never washed a diaper. We did use our own wraps (cover). read more

We love their diaper service. They are generous, helpful, and extremely customer service oriented! They came into our home and showed us exactly how to use the diapers and are helpful anytime we have questions. We love them and would recommend them to anyone because: - Our daughter is more comfortable in them - They have shown us the savings and the benefits for us personally and for the environment - We always have the correct size and give us more than enough for our week - It is SO convenient- We put the used one out at night and by the time we wake up in the morning- the old is gone and the new has come! I used Mother Nature's Diaper Service for both of my children, back in 2003-2005 and currently with my one year old. I LOVE that you only have to put the diapers in the provided diaper pail and they pick up the dirty diapers, reliably, every week. You don't have to rinse or soak - it is super easy. If you are committed to do the right thing for the environment, this is the way to go and it is SO much easier than washing your own cloth diapers. Plus, as you baby grows and needs larger diapers with more absorbency, you just call the office and let them know. The next week you will receive the new size, at the same price. I had a wonderful experience with Mother Nature's Diaper service. Moved from Chicago-land area and began with Mother Nature's when our son was approximately 1 year old. There is a previous post stating no ever answered the phone, which is true, but I could call on the Monday before delivery on Tuesday and would not have to worry about my requests not being answered. The diapers were always in fantastic condition, never any fraying or soiling after delivery. I felt prices were extremely reasonable and they worked with our day care so we did not have to worry about buying extra diapers for day care. We will use them again when we have another child. read more

We have used Mother Nature's for two years and have nothing but positive feedback. The deliveries are always on time and when we ran low we even got a few special deliveries. Cloth diapers are easy to use these days. There are rubber pants with the cloth diaper inside that you fold in three like a letter. The diaper does pail not smell (especially if you are using mothers milk) and it assists with potty training. As our daughter got older, we did switch to a conventional diaper at night and then cloth during the day. The prices are competitive, service is great, and it is great for your kid, the environment and the local economy. read more

I got Mother Nature's Diaper service as a gift. I used it for the first three months of my daughter life. It was a great way to start out cloth diapering. Newborns go through so many diapers, it was really great to have the service initially so I didn't have to worry about washing diapers on top of everything else. Customer service was always great. My emails were always answered. The diapers were clean and always picked up on time. If I needed more diapers I could always call and they would leave them at their warehouse for me to pick up. I would highly recommend them to a friend that was interested in using cloth diapers. read more
