Thinking back, I kept telling Jeane and she dismissed over and over the way I felt every time I came in and did not take my word seriously. I ended up, at 20 weeks going in to find the gender of our baby, only to actually find out he had NO Heartbeat. To make matters worse, after my choice of giving birth to him, she wrote him down as 17 weeks so he was not considered a real child, no death certificate or stillborn certificate and basically acted like it was a bother to go back and change records after I suggested so. I ended up going elsewhere to have a third child after two other miscarriages and it was the best decision. Please advocate for yourself and get second opinions if you feel like you are not being listened to.

Anywhere else, you feel as though you are just a number on a checklist of things to do. Trish from the Shawnee location always shows much love every single time I have an appointment. I could chat with her all day as I feel as though I have known her forever. I can see that she legitimately has a heart for her job and cares about the patients that come in and out. I started seeing Crystal Murphy with my last pregnancy. She always made me laugh, spent adequate time with me to make sure everything was covered and I was comfortable. I also could never thank her enough for the loving hug and kindness she extended the day I found out via ultrasound that I miscarried. Fast forward to a year later, and another pregnancy, I was so excited to be seeing her again, unfortunately my schedule with work did not allow for that to happen. I had to see a new midwife. I was so nervous, for I loved seeing Crystal! In walks Lindsey Hill. Her greeting and interest in my family melted me right away. She spent a good 45 minutes getting to know me, and opening up herself to let me get to know her. She is straight to the point, no beating around any bushes, to the point where your laughing so hard you might pee yourself! She cracks me up talking about wanting to be a Barista, which is funny to me since I am one. I could see her now. Might have to have her come in one day! I get so excited for my appointments with her, because I can't wait to see how she is doing. Today I met Amy Mendus for the first time. This lady is as cute as a button. She also spent a great amount of time trying to get to know me, and hear any concerns I have with the stubborn little guy in my tummy. She was very informative and comforting! I can't wait to get to know her more! I've had amazing encounters with the nurses as well! They are super friendly and can actually draw your blood where it doesn't feel like your arm is going to snap in half! I seriously love all these ladies!! Cannot say enough good things about their whole team. As a veterinarian who knew I wanted an…read moreepidural, I didn't consider hiring doulas at first. However, after hearing more about their role as birth coaches during childbirth and baby care classes, I asked my OB more about them. My doctor, pre-natal yoga instructor, as well as several friends recommended Complete Doula services. I was pleased that they were happily willing to work with people with all kinds of birth plans - even those of us who are more "conventional." The classes they put on before our baby was born were very helpful - especially the class on how my husband and I could prepare to take care of ourselves (not just our baby) after he was born. When the time came for our son to be born they helped me labor at home until it was time to go to the hospital. They knew the nurses and doctors at my hospital (Lawrence Memorial Hospital) very well and helped us know what to expect throughout the birth process. Personally, my labor progressed slowly and they helped reassure us about the different medical decisions we had to make throughout that process. While I ultimately had a c-section I ended up feeling extremely happy with my birth experience and felt like I knew what was going on, had support for all of my choices, and was able to feel like I and my baby were as safe as possible. My husband was ecstatic about having them there because it also allowed us to have extra support so he could get food, sleep etc. at the hospital as needed while still knowing I had company and was not alone. They even helped us get our car seat set up safely! Again, cannot say enough good things about this group - they are great advocates and teammates through childbirth.

I had to visit Kansas City Women's Clinic after I had a bad pap smear. I was given an appointment…read moreto see Dr. Maggie Smith. I am not a fan of doctors, so I went in expecting the same behavior as most doctors. They usually just do what they have to do and leave the room without ever speaking more than they have too. I was so wrong. Dr. Smith put me at ease. She had to do a biopsy and talked me through every step of the procedure. She explained everything she was doing and made me feel so comfortable. I waited for the results and was told I needed to come back and have the LEEP procedure. Dr. Smith remembered everything I had told her a month before about my family. She even remembered my husband was a boilermaker. I was shocked, as most people especially a doctor would not even remember. I had read horror stories about this LEEP procedure online, but with Dr. Smith it went very smoothly. She spoke the whole through the procedure once again and put me at ease. She even came back into the room to make sure I was okay. A few weeks after the procedure I was at Overland Park hospital to visit my daughter who had just given birth. Dr. Smith was there at the hospital and we waved at her. To my complete shock, she walked over and spoke to my husband and I like we were old friends. She is such an amazing doctor and an amazing person. I think if anyone is looking for a gynecologist doctor, that they should pick Dr. Maggie Smith. She is truly a one of a kind doctor!

I had an unusually long labor (45 hours) and was supported above and beyond my expectations from start to finish. Nadah and Ashley made the ultimate dream team to make my dream birth a reality despite the challenges we faced. I attended the Prenatal Yoga classes and now the OMbaby + Mama classes and have really enjoyed the connection with the other mamas in class and with my baby. I genuinely do not believe I'd have been able to accomplish my dream birth without their support. I will definitely be using their services again for my future birth(s)!

When I entered the facility I was greeted warmly. I was taken to the biomat (which I recommend doing) to relax. After, I was taken to the colonic room. Everything was explained to me and I was left alone to get set up. The next steps were explained to me and then I was left alone for the colonic. There was a knock on the door with a 5 minute warning, so to speak, so I can stop and spray off. No real mess or smells to deal with. Very clean experience. I will do this again when needed and highly recommend it.

My husband and I were pregnant with our first child and weren't sure we wanted to do a home birth…read more We agreed we'd meet with Cheryl and ask questions, and we wouldn't go for it unless we both felt certain is was right. After meeting initially with Cheryl, we both were certain that we wanted not only a home birth, but her to be the midwife who helped prepare us and ultimately help us bring our son into the world. Thought there are a million reasons we'd recommend her, ill name a few big ones here: 1. Resourceful: Cheryl knows what she's talking about. She is a constant learner and goes above and beyond what is required for her CPM. Our questions were met with well thought out answers and we felt much more confident as we made our decisions on things like cord clamping, vaccinations, etc. 2. Compassionate: Cheryl cares deeply for her clients. She was a great support, and helped us process emotionally as we prepared for our birth...I hadn't anticipated that on top of our typical prenatal care. 3. Assertive: She is direct in the best way. Enough said. 4. She helps you through the waiting: i was 18 past my baby's "due date" and it was very hard. I was met with a lot of discouragement and opposition from others and Cheryl was a contact source of encouragement as we stuck to our plan to wait. 5. I have had 3 babies at hospitals, one at a birth center and my 5th one I had a home birth with Cheryl. My home birth was my favorite experience, I enjoyed being able to labor in the comfort of my own home and have a large tub to deliver my baby and have a great midwife by my side. Cheryl was encouraging at every step along the way and she was so knowledgeable about pregnancy, labor and delivery and my newborn. If I have another baby I would definitely go back to Cheryl with midwife KC!
