I've spent a lot of time at MOTI in the last two years--rehabbing from back-to-back knee replacements. I've learned from past experience it helps if you trust your therapist and there is good communication between you. I found all that with Dr. Javin, plus a great sense of humor. PT is never fun, but it helps if you like the person who's working with you. Shout out to the terrific aides too. Much to my surprise, I headed back today for 12 weeks with a very painful neck problem. (yes, I had to wait over a month to get in) Very pleased to have met Dr. Bella, and getting to work with Dr. Javin again. The space & equipment is clean. Good music. Young patients and older patients so no one should feel out of place. Front desk really tries to help you. Yes, you get charged if you cancel with less than 24 hour notice. SHADY AND IMCOMPETENT! I came down with what I thought were allergies but turned out to be a severe cold. Congested chest, sinus and head that were going to prevent me from doing ANY exercise from proper ability to breath. Upon leaving the doctor's office I called MOTI 20 hours prior to my appointment. In spite of my best effort to cancel, they told me they would charge me a 75 dollar cancellation fee. Pretty outrageous for a company that that is soooo booked up if you do not reserve your appointments 3-4weeks a head of desired schedule has to put you on a waiting list. Now what exactly is a waiting list, but an opportunity for them to book you ASAP while no doubt charging cancellation fees while booking a replacement appointment! So let me make this EXTREMELY CLEAR. They had the entire afternoon to call the many patients they have on their waiting list to book the appointment. Case in point they called me once to take a cancellation appointment within much less than 24 hours. Are you people for real??? I suppose they would have preferred I put everyone at risk of catching my cold, since in order to get whatever breath I could in and out of my system a mask would have been impossible to perform the exercises. So I guess they would rather get the entire staff and other patients sick rather than waive their cancellation fee. Let's be clear here; This is is a case of profit over treatment. They'll charge you a cancellation fee, then turn around and book your cancelled slot and make even more money that way. So I showed up signed in for my appointment PAID the co-payment, and walked out, cancelling myself from the waiting and they STILL called me to let me know they would charge me the cancellation fee. Pretty gutsy. BUT WAIT.. THERE IS MORE!! And I guess I am not the only one who has experienced the other shenanigans at MOTI. While my allocated physical therapist was good, within 15 minutes of an appointment, I was passed on to an assistant who may or may not have the proper training to assist in your treatment. A moot point anyway because the vast majority of the time they are not even close to you to pay attention to proper performing of your movement, which is vital for your healing (in my case, arthritis in both knees, with the right knee being particularly painful). At times, you'll find yourself looking around to get their attention. Need I say more? Naturally, they'll be more than happy to blow sunshine up your rear end, telling you how soo seriously they take your comments, but rest assured that they will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about any of them! read more

As someone who has been coming here for almost 6 months and pays out of pocket each time, I think this place is worth it! Dr. Jack has been absolutely amazing. Do you know how scary it is to walk for the first time after three months? It was nerve-wracking, especially after my achilles surgery, and a late recovery but he made it possible. Surgeons may not care about your recovery, they only care that the surgery went well. Physical therapists are the ones who care about your recovery, and your future down the road. He gave me the confidence to walk, to drive, and also made me aware of the risks that I would have if I didn't try my best when it came to PT. I had a lot of complications, such as not being able to get to neutral even after 9 months, but with Dr. Jack I was made aware of all of the options that I had available. So, thanks to his help... I went from not being able to walk in a boot, to walking in a boot, to walking in a shoe with a limp, to walking without a limp, and finally able to drive. As a patient, you'll know that having a physical therapist you can trust is so important. Your mind constantly plays tricks on you and tells you that walking is scary and may even be painful - but, Dr. Jack gave me full confidence. Also, I'll give them five stars even though I believe their cancellation policy is ridiculous and their accounting team charged me twice on accident and numerous of other issues. The physical therapist was actually very good, but then they passed me off to someone to show me what exercises to do and he couldn't be less interested. I think his name is Mo. He didn't even watch while I was doing it, was on his iPad the entire time, and failed to correct me when I knew I wasn't doing it properly. I have not been a patient here for nearly one year. now I'm receiving bills because they are saying they undercharged me when my co pay was $40. the demand for more money said they should have been charging $50. But you can't climb that mountain without a guide, and I couldn't have asked for a more thoughtful and attentive guide than Allison Amaya. She had a better handle on my condition than my own podiatrist, and the exercises that we worked on laid a strong foundation for my recovery. All PT is frustrating. The changes don't take place overnight. Just a month ago I was still using a knee scooter to get around. But recently I've been back on walks with no pain to speak of. That's Allison for you. Julia Guzman is AMAZING! I wanted to start training for a marathon, but was impeded by postpartum pelvic floor issues, so I went to MOTI Los Feliz for pelvic floor PT. I really love my physical therapist, I think their care is excellent. However, 2 weeks ago, my car was hit in their parking lot. I called right away when I got home to see if they have camera footage. They said they would check, 6 hours later, I called them again and they said they have no cameras out there even though I can see a camera. I asked if the business above them have footage. They said no. I then went in the following week to talk to their office manager, who promised me she would call me back. Of course, no call. This morning at my appointment, I see a car in the lot, with damage that would match where they would back up and hit me. I have no proof of course. I'm pretty upset at the management of the facility. read more

Would give ten stars if possible to Physical Therapist Allison Amaya at Moti. Simply put, she's a life-changer. I came to Allison with knots in my neck and upper back, and a body slowly shrimping from decades hunched over a laptop. Allison worked with me for several months. She guided me through stretches, strengthening exercises, and how to modify my desk set-up at home. She added new things each week to help me progress, and explained it all perfectly and incrementally in a way that actually stuck. She has so much knowledge and experience -- she made it seamless. In the end, knots and pain are gone. And even better, about 1.5 months in, I realized I'd gotten taller. I can't thank her enough for this gift. And for the life-time gift of all the tools she gave me which I still use every day to keep my progress going. As someone who previously would rather watch paint dry than stretch -- I'm now able to stretch every single day and actually enjoy it because thanks to Allison, I know that miraculously, it works. It can be really hard to find proper care for vaginismus that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and I am so thankful that my OBGYN connected me with MOTI. The only issues I ever had were with my insurance, not with them, but the front desk was always very communicative and upfront about potential insurance weirdness. Vaginismus can be an incredibly emotional condition to treat- I didn't see many reviews on YELP explaining the process so I thought I would add my experience here to help others. You essentially get a private room for the first half of therapy which is desensitization and dilator work with a therapist. Trust is very much needed and Fei was an incredible therapist for this. The condition is very much rooted in emotion / stress and Fei worked very hard to check in with me and try various techniques and move at my pace to make sure I was comfortable. The second half of the hour involves gentle pelvic floor exercises, done by the more junior staff. I always loved working with them, I hate gyms but they were incredibly positive and reassuring . I actually looked forward to coming for an appointment just to see everyone ! If you have vaginismus and are feeling like you have no hope, I would highly recommend trying pelvic floor therapy. It was a godsend for me. Yes, the cancellation policy is annoying and they do seem understaffed at times. But I was able to get high quality physical therapy for around 45$ a session so, I really couldn't complain! read more

I greatly benefitted from the physical therapy service at MOTI in Los Feliz. The location is ideal, everyone is friendly, the facility is pleasant, and my therapist, Jack, was excellent. So were his assistants. It was educational as well. I learned stretch and strengthening exercises that were appropriate for me, which I continue to do daily at home. read more

Not a review of their actual practice, but it's impossible to book. I was so happy that MOTI was covered by my insurance. But it took 3 weeks of calling multiple times a day to try to get them to answer to make an appointment, and then when i finally got them on the phone, they didn't even have availability until September. While i had the option of being on their cancellations list, that makes it very difficult to actually heal an injury. It'd be a much better business practice to at least be clear that you have a two month wait up front, so that potential patients aren't wasting time trying to get an appointment. and are able to at least get care somewhere else. read more

I've had physical therapy a couple times before and this place is the best! My son went for back pain and I went for knee pain. I also went right after the knee pain was resolved for pain related to frozen shoulder. They fixed us up and were so kind, patient, supportive and clear. And we got a portal with all our exercises to do at home illustrated and explained in detail. Plus the space is clean and airy and light, it's just great. Thank you MOTI! read more

Love Dr. Fei (5 stars for her), but not a fan of this model of PT. My only previous experience was a one-on-one hour with another excellent practitioner. But that was five years ago, he has moved and the entire model seems to have changed unless you forego insurance and do private pay. Here's how it worked: I started each session with the excellent Dr. Fei. She knows her stuff, is a good listener and communicator, and is also a very warm person. After 20 minutes or so with her (I never looked at the clock), she instructed an aide on which exercises she wanted me to do for the remainder of the session. Quality of the aides varies. One or two were excellent, the rest okay. But all of them are running back & forth between you and other clients. Also, I found the pounding, mostly electronic and rap music irritating beyond belief. I'm a former music professional and veteran of a LOT of loud concerts, but quietude and tranquility are underrated IMO. If you can find one-on-one, go for that. But if you end up here, request Dr. Fei. They will tell you she's fully booked, but they get tons of cancellations and Fei and the front desk are both good about calling you when appointments clear. read more

The PT I saw was wonderful, but their covid policy is non existent. I called them today with covid and was told I'd have to pay a $75 cancellation fee. They further said that I can still come in EVEN WITH COVID. So I said hey so you let people who are covid positive come here? he said yeah but they have to wear a mask. absolutely absurd. so if you're into getting covid and being forced to show up even when you physically cannot breathe and are contagious, then this is the place for you. read more

Very positive experience! Very professional and they do actually care about your improvement. In the past I had been to other P.T. places but the treatment felt cold and impersonal. Not the case at MOTI, my therapist Fei Zang treated me for TMJ and chronic pain in my back. Dr. Zang was warm and would ask important questions about my pain and my improvement. She was always receptive to my questions or comments on the exercises and she would adjust accordingly. I could tell she cared about my improvement and that was the right kind of motivation I needed to keep improving. Thanks to her I no longer live in pain. Thank you Dr. Zang! A few months ago I was experiencing knee pain due to bone spurs, so as part of my treatment, my doctor referred me to MOTI Physiotherapy for P.T. MOTI is the best physical therapy facility I've ever been to. Dr. Rajat does the best body work and explains what's going on, and the best way to heal and get stronger. Dr. Alex has also treated me and is equally as amazing. They along with the trainers, Xavier, Vartan, and the rest of the team are courteous, well-trained, and professional. To top it all off, it's a great environment, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend MOTI to anyone in need of excellent and highly professional physical therapy. read more

Unfortunately, I decided to cancel my future appointments with MOTI after two sessions here. This place is very hard to book due to their limited resource and this place has a VERY strict cancellation policy. Do NOT come here if you are looking to get treated soon or if you have ongoing health issues and may need to cancel within the 24 hour window because they WILL CHARGE YOU $75. I chose this place because they are in-network with my insurance and closer to where I live. When I first called, they didn't have any availability until 3 months out, which has set my expectations high for this place as they seemed to be super popular. I would rate it one star only but because the first session went well, I'm willing to give it 2 stars. I met a physical therapist and an intern student in my first session. They were friendly, listened to my injury journey, did the assessment and everything. After the session, the physical therapist told me she was going to switch to part-time starting next month so her availability will be limited. She suggested to put me with 2 therapists going forward. I was confused and disappointed to find out after waiting for 3 months. When it comes to physical therapy sessions, consistency is very important. I expect my therapist to understand my physical needs and have a solid plan for my recovery process. She did offer to switch me to a full-time therapist right away as an alternative but then the first session would become a waste of time. I expected the business to do a better job only introducing new patients to their staff that's going to be available. They shouldn't have put a patient in this awkward position. Today, I called at 8:30am to cancel my 5:30pm appointment and explained on the phone I wasn't feeling well last night and thought I could sleep it off, but waking up, I felt worse and had to go to urgent care for a checkup. They straight up told me we have to charge you for a $75 late cancellation fee. I was very surprised to hear that they wouldn't even consider waive it because it is common sense that sometimes health issues happen without 24 hour notice. I spoke to their director Tracy later on to try to explain again my health situation (not to mention how difficult it was to get in touch with her, called at least 3 times and couldn't reach her) However, she told me unless there's a big life event (such as a death in family), they are not going to waive the cancellation fee because I only called 8 hours ahead of time, not 24 hours. I mean, I get it, a business establishes a policy to maximize their profit but not understanding or showing any sympathy of your patients who have to deal with unforeseen health issues such as Covid/flu is just another level. I attended Moti p.t. for almost exactly one year taking care of four different issues on my body. Each therapy was directed solely to that individual issue: a knee replacement, carpal tunnel surgery , shoulder replacement and finally lumbar therapy for spinal stenosis. I cannot tell you the joy I experienced at the recovery sites for each of these. i went in invalided and came out feeling pretty whole and I am 92 years old and feel so improved. Please try to get your therapy there especially if you live in los feliz .. well, Bella Raroque is incredible as a p.t expert but then everyone there is highly qualified. I have absolutely no qualms about saying what I've said. p.s. people are complaining about the extra $5 charge. i too do not like it, but if that is what is necessary for excellent treatment i am in. read more

I went to MOTI with chronic neck, shoulder pain and some numbness in my arm. Chyna Cotangco was my PT person and she was amazing. She addressed the problem from many different ways using stretching techniques, soft tissue work, strengthening exercises and much more. My improvement started slow but her patience paid off and I am out of consistent pain and numbness in my arm. I highly recommend MOTI. Appointments are sometimes booked but the front desk is on top of the waiting list and does contact with appointments as soon as there is a cancellation. Also, they take insurance. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it's close to me but this is probably the worst PT experience I've ever had. First of all, this place feels like a zoo with the factory like method of overbooking patients into the day. The staff wasn't even checking to see if I was doing my exercises correctly because they were busy assessing 2 people at once. I also asked my PT Jennifer at least 3 times to send me the exercises I can do at home and she either forgot or said they weren't ready even after 2 months. Ridiculous. I made absolutely 0 progress with my pain here and I cancelled the rest of my appointments. They are also quick to charge you $75 for an appointment you're unaware about because they somehow confirm for you. This place is a total circus and you're better off finding somewhere else. read more

5 WEEKS WAIT TIME FOR AN APPOINTMENT!!! I have a doctor's recommendation for a fracture and I am being told I have to wait 5 weeks for an appointment or evaluation!! I will have to tell my doctor that he can no longer recommend them to his patients!!! Maybe they aren't medically affiliated after all -- certainly doctors know that patients with bone injuries can't wait over a month for an appointment! These guys are just great! They are very competent, they love their work, and are so professional. I have been bringing my mom here for serious back work. Tracy Ferguson on day one figured out what might be the main problems and quickly prepared an appropriate program. Since the first session my mom has experienced positive changes. We have worked with a few other therapists too - Vardan, Tippi, and Elton who are very competent and a pleasure to deal with. First, let me start off by saying I have been to my fair share of physical therapy facilities and MOTI is by far the best. The facility and staff are incredibly caring, they worked with me to set up my schedule, and everything was always clean and up to date. Nickon, my therapist, was professional and easy to work with. I actually enjoyed going to PT after awhile (something before I had always dreaded). I had a lot of pain for a long time with my knee surgery and would get discouraged, but Nickon was always supportive, honest, attentive, and tried to find new ways to help me navigate the pain until it got better. My knee feels so much better now, and I owe a lot of that to MOTI and Nickon. I am so thankful that I had found this place to be a bright spot and a place of healing amongst having knee surgery and navigating the chaos around COVID. read more

MOTI is hands down the best physical therapy clinic in Los Angeles (best I've ever been to period as well). Staff is young, educated, and personable. Equipment is new, clean, and cutting edge. The spaces make you want to come back and finish PT instead of tailing off on your own with less focus as is common at the end of recovery. 10/10 would recommend even if insurance doesn't cover costs. I had an amazing experience with MOTI, and especially the therapist I worked with there, Greg Moy. Greg spent a lot of time working with me to understand my injury, work through the immediate issues that were limiting my activities, and set me up on an ongoing program I could do on my own to complete my recovery. In addition to Greg, all of the other staff I encountered were knowledgeable and fun to work with. And the facility is open, airy, and well-equipped. The patients during my time there ranged from serious athletes nursing overuse injuries to people recovering from accidents or everyday aches and pains. It's a very welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone. It's probably worth noting that I didn't need a diagnosis or referral from my doctor before scheduling my first appointment. I went in, they evaluating my injury, set up a treatment plan, and then handled the paperwork with my insurance company for every visit. Your insurance situation may be different, so check first, but don't assume you have to go to your doctor before you can seek the help of a physical therapist. I'm not planning on getting injured again, but I know I probably will, and I'll definitely return to MOTI and Greg if/when it happens. read more
