This place is very stricked!!! I was cheering for the show and the security keep telling us to be quiet. Great show

I wasn't able to go to the Moulin Rouge when I first went to Paris and I was totally bummed. So, I vowed that the next time I was in Paris I would check it out. Over 10 years later, I finally got to see a show at the Moulin Rouge. It is hard to get tickets, but if you have a better chance if you are part of a group. The interior is very classy and nice. I think all the Vegas shows model themselves after the Moulin Rouge. The food was not bad. We had wine, champagne. The soup was cream of asparagus, which was good. My steak was not bad, but it's not like the beef in the states. My potatoes were yummy. The show was Feerie. The girls were beautiful, the guys were a little too fruity for me. The show was sadly dated. I felt like was watching vintage eighties production....make-up, hair, costumes, and the dancing. I think the current Vegas productions were better than Feerie, but hey, I'm in Paris, it's essential to check out a show at the Moulin Rouge at least once. Check! Seriously why are people giving this place good reviews. The performance was absolute crap, from the completely out dated costumes, to the terrible lip syncing and performers constantly falling out of sync. I couldn't believe this was supposed to be the Moulin Rouge. The music all sounded as if they had taken share songs and put Jock Jams beats behind them, completely thoughtless. This is something I would expect to wake up and find myself watching if I went on a bender and vegas and woke up at the worst casino in the entire world. So then we also had the food. An additional 52 euro gets you a three course meal...I went with two other people so we basically ordered everything on the menu, and despite having gone over what we wanted twice with the waiter they still messed up our orders for every single course multiple times. One waiter also hit me in the back of the head with a serving tray quite hard, which put me in a quite dismal mood. Other complaints...Mandatory coat check which costs 2 Euro. The staff assured us would be warm in the auditorium and it was absolutely freezing. People were literally using their napkins to try and keep warm during dinner and the show. Ridiculous. Our last night in Paris, we bought tickets for the dinner and show at Moulin Rouge. We got the recommendation from a Parisian friend who said that it's great fun, he sees a lot of theater in NY, and the girls are sexy. We are from New York, and I see nearly every show on broadway. The show was fine. Is it necessary to go? No. You can totally skip it. Yes the girls were sexy and there were lots of boobs throughout the night, so if you want to see boobs, go to this show. The ladies for the most part were in step with each other the whole time and on the contrary to other reviewers, I found the costumes to be fine. A little dated, sure. But you're going to the moulin rouge, what do you expect? The worst part were the male dancers. While the females did lots of interesting choreography, the men were out of step, their costumes were ridiculous, and they just weren't that talented. Think community theater. I would've said regional or touring, but honestly that's an insult to regional and touring actors. The theater is actually a lot nicer than we expected, well taken care of. Bonjour from California :) We went to Moulin Rouge on Sept 25th. We arrived 5 mins late before the beginning of this show and were greeted by humble and polite gentleman. They directed us to our seats and got our champagne right away. Within first few mins we were completely in awe of this show. As it progressed I was absolutely in love with this show. Not because of the reason primarily it is well known for but for the stunt performers. They completely put in their heart and soul to entertain people. OMG, I was stunned, jaw-dropped, skipped my heart-beat, had goose-bumps watching the show of the lady and the gentleman on the skates. I don't have enough words to describe how fantabulously fantastic they had performed. 5-8 mins of their performance made my heartbeat rate go higher and higher. Totally respect these people taking so much risks to entertain people. In addition, we also found the cabaret dances very elegant and worth watching. The show was all sold out so make sure you make your reservation before hand. Totally worth Paris trip and Moulin rouge was one of the biggest highlights of our trip. We pay pretty good money for the general admission tickets but we were treating like cattle. Instead of making lines, all general attendees are grouped in a room with no A/C. It took about 35 minutes for us to be brought in the building to a queue this took about another 12 minutes. We were finally brought to a communal table, all was great with our new friends but the seating is really uncomfortable. Space is limited and they have jammed as many tables as possible. This is definitely a fire hazard. The theme of the "Can, Can" is not very clear other than boobs. There are a few good numbers but the choreography and cohesion needs to be reworked. Overall, it was and ok experience if I ignore the time waiting and the uncomfortable seating arrangements. The people we shared the table with were really fun so we enjoyed it after all. read more

This was one of the best cabaret shows I have ever seen. As expected, some of the acts are cheesy but some rival what you would see at Cirque du Soleil. I was seated right next to the stage. Champagne was good. No server ever came to our table. The seating is very tight. I didn't like that some of the acts included live animals. Also, if you didn't know, several of females are topless but the men stay covered. Its expensive; worth a visit once. read more

I couldn't stop laughing during the entire show. It was like some farcical high school musical mutated into cabaret. Highlights: 1) Greeters by the door make you feel welcome and it feels old-timey and wonderful. 2) The rollerskating couple on stage totally killed their routine. 3) A giant yellow snake tried to escape from the water tank during a segment and I saw the security guy collar it casually and dump it back into the water. Smart snake wanted no part of this tragic comedy. 4) The parts with the mini animals made me smile- I hope they treat them well. 5) Tumbling cousins were great. Lowlights: Everything else. Obviously the Moulin Rouge is iconic and I had high hopes for the evening. We were sat all the way in the back but the view wasn't too bad. I was definitely hoping for more classic French can can dancing and there was only one number like that. Instead there were some really stranger and uncomfortable "clown" and "1980s" themes. The talents acts between the dancing were certainly interesting and full of energy but some of the main line dancers just seemed to be going through the motions, and they're the whole reason why we're there. read more

Tacky is an understatement. After arriving to this tourist trap an hour and a half early to find the line already spreading blocks down the street, the night began on a low note as customers were confused, angry, and unsure if the thousands of people waiting in line was some sort of error. After being herded like cattle we finally made it inside the venue which has a roaring 20s vibe goin on. The décor was absolutely stunning, and was probably the only part of the experience that had any similarities to the movie. Sorry Lady Marmalade fans, this show has no "giuchie, giuchie, ya ya dada". When finding our seats, rude staff rolled their eyes at everything we said and sat us at a middle table shared with two other couples. It was devastatingly claustrophobic as I had strangers seated all up in my business right against my back and both sides. When I asked if I could sit in the many empty tables closer to the front, I received a rude "NO". Whatever. At least the ticket came with cheap champagne. The show itself is pure eye candy with colorful dramatic outfits and freak show vibes throughout. The cool washed up acts reminded me of something you'd find in Las Vegas. Too much cheesiness and not enough dazzle. My highlight was probably frolicking (okay- sprinting) to the door when the show was over. To summarize, this show was a tragic waste of my time in such a beautiful city that has so much to offer. read more

While some people may say this is only for tourist (and at this point it likely is) it's still an incredible show that truly must be seen! There are countless acts, costume changes and incredible stage sets. We actually got seated in the front row, right next to the stage. I think I got a few boa feathers in my mouth during the show! I actually would have preferred to be sitting a little further back, but it was definitely a unique perspective and you got to see all the performers up close! Bonus Tip: There is an act called the 'Snake Charmer' that involves a semi-nude women swimming with very large Python snakes! This is a staple when visiting Paris.. Oldie but goodie! First of all the venue looked great. You'd think it would be run down like an old Las Vegas show. I'd post pics but they didn't allow photos. But trust me the ambiance was great. The food was pretty good too! Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Now the show.... C'mon it's Moulin Rouge! It was great. It's just a terrible show. The cast were way out of sync. The songs were too cheesy. The "champagne" was extremely awful. You are cramped like a can of sardines. Please save your euros and go to a museum or somewhere interesting. I fell asleep in the middle of the show and I left before it ended. We bought tickets online to see the famous cabaré at Moulin Rouge. Despite visiting Paris many times before, we had never been to Moulin Rouge, mostly because it feels much too touristic for us, but then again, all "must-sees" in Paris are. We trusted earlier reviews on beeing there on time, unfortunately we were not let in one minute before the set time. If you already have a ticket, don't bother showing up too early. There's no dresscode, however, it's a cabaré and the big area you sit in makes you wish you had dressed up a bit. We were seated with another 2 couples at a table for six and there was no possibility to make a reservation to avoid this. The show turned out to be amazing, a mixture of cabaré, acrobatics and magic show. Touristic or not. this is a must experience even if you are not that keen on cabarés! read more

Do no watch the show here. Do not waste your money. There is no direction, no story, no wow-factors, no unifying theme. The only part I liked was this balancing act that seemed randomly placed into the show. The was one part that seemed pretty racist but I maybe I'm being overly critical about that. Sure, there are some women topless with beautiful costumes "moving" around. Notice my emphasis on just moving, they're not even dancing. The choreography was not polished and you could tell which performers were new. It was really a terrible show and not worth the money. Additionally, if you're paying the minimum, they make sure you're sitting way in the back in a way where you're just uncomfortable. I saw people tipping the ushers like 50+ euros to get a closer seat. It's all tables in the hall and if you're in a group of 2, you might be sitting way in the back awkwardly a part of a table for 6 with smelly strangers and no room to move. You also might be sitting next obnoxious Chinese tourists. I'm lucky to have seen many Broadway shows in New York and Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas so I have this high standard of the performing arts in the USA. What I saw in Paris came nowhere close and was basically a huge waste of time/money. Honestly, with all these said, if you want to visit the Moulin Rouge and take a picture, do just that and don't get lured into the night show. Your money is better spent on a really good French dinner. Bottom line: come take a picture with the outside of the Moulin Rouge (at night it looks better), go grab awesome dinner in another area closer to the city center (you're in the red light district). read more

"Can you can-can-can?!" I was so misled under the impression that the Moulin Rouge was going to be something like the movie. I wanted to see Nicole Kidman and Ewen McGregor dance it out and sing "Come what may" or something. The show was more like a Vegas or Reno show line than a dance like show. I couldn't quite help but laugh throughout most of the show because it was slightly ridiculous. It was like watching Ken and topless Barbie prance and lip sync in sequence when the women actually had tops on. Also for how much we paid to watch this I want the dancers to have full breasts (I mean these women has the flattest chests ever!!!), I want to see some bottoms, and the men should also take off all their clothes too. As for the food I recommend not to get the pre-fixed meals. Okay yea it seems slightly cheaper but really its not. The quality of the pre-fixed meals are crap. We looked at the couple next to us who got the pre-fixed meal and their fillet beef looked like it came from a TV dinner. We decided not to get the preset stuff but still ordered the beef fillet, it looked like an actual beef cut. It was SO TENDER! I mean it was very tender and juicy and delicious! I wanted more!!! I still want more!! But don't get the rabbit and don't get the duck appetizer. It was like eating spam but for way too much. The dessert was so so . It wasn't great but I don't think it was as bad as the appetizer. The best way to go is to get the main plate and that's it. Also it says that you should dress up all fancy like. But it really doesn't matter in the end it's just a tourist trap that wants your money. First off please take time to read my reviews and you will see I do not write them like this one. I'm giving the one star for the nice theater and costumes. I was an award winning Choreographer for over 20 years. Some of the worst dancing I've seen in my life. I guess if you are mildly attractive but but on pretty red feathers no one will notice. The male dancers should be thrown out on their asses. They would not know what technique was or dancing in unison was of it smacked them in the face. Yes there are pretty topless girls. However, go to a strip club and spend your 150 bucks. I did not have dinner that was another $300 for two. What an absolute embarrassment. The music and acts are stuck in the 1970's at best. Total waste of money. I so wanted to love this place. Sadly, that was not the outcome. Good thing my traveling companion paid for it. For starters, you get crammed into a tiny space at a skinny table. They pack as many people into this place as possible. We had to keep moving to see anything that was going on in the front/center of the stage. The acrobats and jugglers were great. this is a little late, as I went here 4 years ago, but I was organizing my Europe trip photos last night and my memory was jogged... I would say, if you're going to hit up something ultra-tacky in Paris, go all out and see the Moulin Rouge show. the food was alright - I don't recall much about it besides getting a decent steak/vegetables plate, though the wine was really good and flowing! it's a musical/cabaret show, and I want to say it was about two hours long. they also had some acrobatic acts, as well as a girl swimming in a giant fish tank filled with water and snakes. all in all, pretty fun. the highlight of that night was most definitely my extremely drunk friend, who later on that night said "the show needed more naked bitches"...dude, there was like 100 on stage at one point! conveniently located in the Parisian red light district - capitalism, fuck yeah. read more

We went and we loved it. We knew it was cliché, and we knew it was touristy, and so did everybody else who was there. Regardless, the show is one of those once-in-a-lifetime things you should experience if you're here. I did not expect the woman swimming with snakes and the snake thing to come up out of the stage seriously? On our first night in Paris, we decided to watch the Moulin rouge. Having never gotten around to the movie but familiar with all of the references, I was not too sure what I was expecting for 90 minutes. Tickets cost around €105 euros each and an additional €10 will get you half a bottle of champagne. We arrived around 15minutes late and mid way through a performance. We were quickly showed to our seats with the aid of a torchlight. So what can you expect at the Moulin rouge. Well here's a list: 1. Lots of feathers - apparently genuine red ostrich feathers are used 2. Lots of female skin 3. Strutting, shaking, catwalking 4. Lip syncing and some live singing to French songs and 'I will survive' 5. Little ponies walked around on the stage by sexy jockeys 6. A woman who wraps pythons around her body in water. These pythons would rather swim freely than wrap around anyone. She had to grab these pythons and forcefully wrap then around her body 7. Can can dancers that do lots of splits and jumps 8. Way too many costume changes and coloured feathers that I could keep track off (pink feathers that later lit up in the dark and with the stage covered in stars was a pretty sight) 9. Balancing acts that were comparable to cirque du soleil 10. Clowns 11. Women dressed as lions (no real lions sorry) 12. A comedy routine centering around bank robbers. One of the performers actually 'fell'off the stage onto a member of the audience 13. Male Dancers Definitely entertaining and I recommend you watch it at least once. At one point, I counted 32 female dancers on stage. I don't think men need any motivation but for the ladies, the costumes, variety of acts,and acrobatics will keep you entertained. read more

Thought that this was going to be a total tourist trap and while it still is, I actually really enjoyed the show. The acts were well executed. Make sure you book tickets online well in advance (at least 3 weeks in advance) because it sells out quick. I bought the package that includes the champagne and that came out to 250 euros for two people (holy sh*t...I know). To me, this is once in a lifetime experience. It's nice to actually experience Moulin Rouge at least once. Get there early so that you can snag a good seat, otherwise your view may be partially blocked by someone sitting in front of you at the same table. 3.5 stars. read more

A good experience! Seeing a famous cancan show in Paris can't really be a bad thing and I wasn't let down at all. The show itself is entertaining and the acts during intermissions were great! Just don't go in expecting the same thing as the movie or a Broadway play because it's not; it's basically a cheesy, French performance. We had decent table seats and had half a bottle plus a small bottle of champagne during the show. The first champagne bottle was lovely but the second tasted rather lack-luster. I was dying to see the Can Can but they didn't dance it the way I'd seen it on movies - actually, one of the staff members told me that every tourist she's talked to is disappointed by this. The 125 YEAR OLD Moulin Rouge is amazing. The Decor is Bunnyranch Red velvet with GoLD & black very sexy. The facility is just beautiful. The food was very good, a salmon appetizer, sea bream fish and French desert that was soooo good. Add a bottle of French champagne and it was a party. Krissy Summers was very busy later. Ok now to the good part OMG OMFG THE SHOW WAS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER!!!! The dancers body were just perfect no giant breast all just perfect for their body . The roller skaters on a 8 ft round platform beyond exciting, the customs WOW, I was against the stage with my dates and it pulled back and plexiglass pool raised up with a dozen 10 ft long snakes with a topless hottie grabbing with doing her act. One word: overrated We heard a lot of good stories about this place so decided to book the expensive ticket to experience it in our stay at Paris. It's a top-less show, however the women looked very classy in the outfits they wore. The show lasted a little more than 2 hours. The ticket said show starts at 11pm; 11:30pm we were still in Line to get inside the theater. The line was extremely long and it was one coldddd night. A lot of people dressed up in fancy clothes but I was in my Nike and they still let me in! The show is somewhat like circus soleil(butcher that) except for the women were half naked. In my opinion, circus de soleil is better! 92 euro to watch the show and 102 euro to drink champagne, and roughly 200 euro/person to have dinner while watching the show. We shared our table with strangers and they were seniors so we did not have that much fun at our table. I wouldn't do it again though. read more

I've been to many theater shows and this was absolutely controlled in the worst way possible. I loved the show...what I could see. I was close to the stage but I was sitting at a table that was places sideways to the stage and there were two people infront of me that were blocking my view entirely.... the stage should be set up like an actual theater with rows of seating and not tables placed sideways to the stage it's just not practical and honestly ruined the show for me, also you can't pick the seats you get. The can-can club made famous in multiple paintings, movies, and song. But alas the Moulin Rouge of the Belle Epoque is no more. Moulin Rouge is now an overpriced tourist trap that is mildly entertaining, just not authentic. It is difficult to capture a time that has gone past. Visit if it is a must do for you. Other than that, walk around outside and take your photo with the famous wind mill behind you. read more

This is the second cabaret show we saw and was definitely the best. Purchased tickets on-line before we left SC. Arrived about 20 minutes before "the gates" opened and was allowed in, following a ticket check and very quick security wand screening and bag check. We had purchased the higher priced dinner option and food was above average, Our seats were one long 8 person table away from the stage. Tables radiate away from the stage so everyone has to turn to face the stage. The venue was very nice. The costumes and dancing were WOW! The acts between segments were good too. I really enjoyed them. I would HIGHLY recommend this show. read more

Ah, that moment you realize: The sidebar attractions, designed to allow the main dancers to get ready for their next set, are way more entertaining than the Moulin Rouge show itself. Yikes! You could feel the energy lift when those 'filler' entertainers took the stage. I do understand that the Moulin Rouge show is nodding it's head to the past- I get it- but sets/skits were borderline cheesy. Beautiful costumes and dancers, but that is not enough to warrant the cost and horrific seating. It's not the table sharing, six per on our upper level, it's the table angle and lack of view as a result. I also understand dinner theatre seating is different than a cinema. The issue is the grab for dollars and packing in too many. Literally could not cross/uncross legs for fear of hitting the table and spilling champagne. As the show dragged on, we were more and more uncomfortable trying to sit perfectly rigid and hold our heads 'just so' in order to see. We didn't hate it, but we sure didn't love it. Save your money for a better show like Cirque du Soleil. read more
