Classics from the 60's through 90's can be seen here, some extremely rare. Most vehicles have placards that provide detailed information. The building itself is large, pristine, and classy. Lots of neon and an abundance of retro gas pumps. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The museum entry fee goes to charities (Shriners Hospital, Shelby Foundation). You can get tickets ahead of time on their website or in person when you arrive. The facility is also available as an event space for around 300 people. Superformance,Hillbank Motors,and The Sagerstrom Shelby Events Center participated in hosting the Carroll Shelby Car Show & Tribute -- a morning dedicated to honoring one of the greatest names in American automotive racing,engineering and design history. Shelby cars and trucks came rolling in early Saturday morning for great time and car talk! Their were Cobra's, GT350's, GT500's, and a terrific collection of all things Shelby machines! Their was also a super Hillbank lineup of Superformance (Shelby licensed), Shelby Cobras, Daytona Coupes, GT40's and performance cars on-site. The entire street in front of Hillbank Motors and the nearby Sagerstrom Shelby Events Center was lined with Shelby cars and trucks and bustling with Shelby nation fans and owners! Regardless, the free entry automatically made the visit a great value. This is a small museum (and even smaller now due to unfortunate damage caused by landslides in recent years) with a gorgeous interior, a vibrant garden, and regal ocean views. The interior includes many collected works of fine art that betray quite good taste, something to be attributed to the provenance of the home. I liked that because it was during the winter holiday season, the house was decorated accordingly; I wonder what the house looks like during other times of year! I am not sure how involved the museum docents are meant to be, but they appeared happy to show us around and give further explanation on some details of the house. Important note: public restrooms are available, and also there are even functional in-situ bathrooms. Using one made me feel like I was a proper guest to the home. This will probably be a good time for the whole family, if art and culture is something yours values. I'm bringing my mother on my next visit, hopefully on another free day.

As much as I enjoy viewing art I harbor some strong feelings about paying to do so. My issues…read morearen't centered around museum entrance fees or even around art and craft shows but the latter is where my biases stat to arise. There's a million art/craft shows that are free of entrance fees so when I pay to enter I want to feel that there's a good reason to do so. And generally, that reason should be the art. I never mind paying to enter the nearby Festival of the Arts. The art is excellent as is the setting and the music. The Laguna Art-A-Fair charges an admission fee of about $10 and neither the setting nor the art struck me as worth the price of admission. There are musical acts to catch here, but I visited on a weekday and there were none. Some of the artists who have been selected to show at the Festival of the Arts have also chosen to show their work here. The former is a highly competitive bar to scale. The bar for showing at the latter is far lower and sadly, I thought less of the artists who chose to show here when their works had been selected for inclusion at the Festival of the Arts. The Art-A-Fair isn't a bad experience but rather, more of a blah experience. I enjoyed walking around and looking at the work but feel there's places to either see better art or pay less (or nothing) to see the equivalent of what's here.

Beauty, as well as beautiful art is in the eye of the beholder! I was drawn to whatever artwork caught my eye, as well as a caught my attention & made me pause for quite a while! There were beautiful photographs, sculptures, paintings & so much more! Creative Minds | It was great speaking to some of the artists, who were more than happy to talk about their artwork and experience as an artist! In fact, I was drawn to one woman's artwork so much that I purchased a piece from her collection! The confidence in the eyes of the portrait was amazing! And the direct eye contact was everything...I had to have it!! She captured the unique moment while on a safari! Exciting! Her travel photography was beautiful! I absolutely loved it! Concert | Thursday 5:30-7PM Raffia Thomas was an amazing performer with quite the sultry voice & the band was incredible as well! Tickets were $50 each, in addition to the entrance fee! My friend and I ended up walking right by Raffia, complimented her, and she invited us to her upcoming performance at a winery! Atmosphere | Busy, welcoming, plenty of booths, plenty of people & quite the social environment; enjoyable! Parking | $25 near the entrance! There were a variety of other parking options as well! Overall | What a fun experience! I love being surrounded by creative people, beautiful art, or art that catches my eye and especially, the musical performance! I had a great time & met up again with my friend before leaving! On my way out of the festival, I simply handed the slip/receipt of my purchase to the attendent waiting at the entrance & I was free to go with my purchase! Yay!!

Today I had the wonderful opportunity conversing with the homeowner again he loves to share how he made each individual character from common items, such as washtubs, potato sacks, Water cans, etc. He mentioned that he does it for the community, especially the children. Furthermore, I found out today that as we grow closer to Christmas / winter holiday the outdoor decorations transitions/change into more of a Christmas theme (as the movie itself does) And as we get closer to December 25, he's going to put up a Christmas tree, and then the stockings! I love slowly driving by here, especially with a passenger, who's never seen the house before and is shocked at how beautifully done it is! They generously walked our four kids through each creation and section, encouraging them to ask questions and even sharing their own favorite parts of the movie that inspired it all. Watching our kids light up during that interaction made the experience even more special. What makes this display even more incredible is knowing that every single character in the yard is handcrafted by the homeowners themselves. The time, care, and love poured into this display is undeniable. A truly magical experience created by genuinely amazing people. We are so grateful we finally made the visit--and it's now a holiday memory our family will cherish.

The collection of surfboards (ranging from practically prehistoric, through one of Duke's, through those of contemporary champions) and art is awesome. We were lucky enough to just wander in on a day when SHACC's founder, Dick Metz, was onsite. Dick is an athletic guy in his 90s who knows or knew every pioneering surfer, ran the Hobie surf shop on Oahu, surfed in South Africa and told Bruce Brown about it, and collected vintage boards and photos (both his and others') along the way. Dick gave us a super tour, with backstories of the things we were looking at. Visit this place! It's in an industrial and office park and has its own parking lot. You'll be glad you stopped by. It's a bit difficult to find parking, but after that's settled, knock 3 times on the door and upon entry, you are greeted and signed in. We were greeted by Sabrina and Alyssa. They were friendly and welcoming and made sure that all of our questions were answered. The whole experience is neat because in such a small area, there are so many things to see, smell, and read!
