Before I going to say how deeply angry I'm about this OSU Urology Dept I have to give thanks to…read morethose employees who cared & tried to help my son with his kidney stone. Doctor Creagh Boulger at OUS East treated my son with vigilance when my son came in bleeding dark red blood & in tremendous pain. He restored the Opioids for the pain which is rated worst than childbirth. Included was a Cat Scan to make sure his kidney wasn't totally blocked & treated my son with Autism with dignity. Garin from the Patient Response Team listened to my concerns & it seemed to me that he was going to try hard to get better treatment for my son. It is possible that he had an influence as instead of waiting until May 21 for Mike's treatment they removed it on May 12th. Doctor Matthew Lee was the kind Doctor who stepped up to the plate. The practice of waiting so long to treat something as painful as a stone is unconscionable. Mike suffered so much during this ordeal from his pain, his Autism and because he couldn't work his full time job. I don't understand what caused this whether it was the industry which causes people to often declare bankruptcy in order to obtain health care. We have the most expensive health by far than the rest of the Industrialized world such as Germany for example which provides Universal health care, out lives us & those who have job pay about 1/2 what wee pay here. Every time I myself suffered from kidney stones the Medical team would give the patient 4 to 5 days to pass it and it it wasn't passed in that time they would go in and remove it. Mike will avoid OSU if he is ever to get the stones again. And in most cases such as mine he will eventually have another attacks.

This is an update to the original review below:…read more After waiting three (3) months for Ms. Shue to follow-up with me, and since I never heard back from her, I decided it would be wise to update my review. After the three months of waiting, I wrote a review and she 'immediately' called my home number twice. She wouldn't call me during those three months, but after I submitted a review, she called two times. I wasn't going to change my review because my review was true. Interesting how quickly she called me once the review was posted but did NOT follow up during three whole months. Her two calls felt like harassment. My original review is below: Met with Shirley Shue because when I arrived, I was told my plastic surgeon wasn't in. Big mix-up! The visit was a great disappointment and a waste of time. The scheduler scheduled me with the WRONG person. I didn't wish to see Ms. Shue but I was already there, so I met with her. Ms. Shue seemed to lack confidence. She downplayed the scars on my face that I was concerned about. I couldn't take her seriously. She said that I might look worse if she did a procedure. Yet, she said she is a plastic surgeon. Procedures should make you look much better, not worse. I believe her skills may be limited. For my concern to be downplayed by Ms. Shue wasn't caring or professional. Afterwards, I read her notes about my visit. Some of her notes were not 'true' and she 'completely' left out the total area on my face and the amount of scarring. Her notes talked like everything was fine; that everything had healed. This wasn't at all about the healing process, this was about the 'scars' that are still present today. The injury was from a long time ago. She never saw the fractures, contusions or abrasions. That was the first time I had ever met her. She said any procedure would be considered cosmetic surgery. I disagree 100%. A procedure would be to reduce or remove the scars. She was to follow up with me--but, she NEVER did. Never heard from her. That was one of the worst visits I've had with a physician. I would not want to relive that visit with Ms. Shue. I would not have an appointment with her again. I could not recommend her to anyone. There are good plastic surgeons. We have choices!!!

I've previously been admitted to both OSU Wexner Medical Center and Riverside Hospital. All of that said, my only real complaint is that the chart is not available to my primary care team in the OSU system. My charts with OSU and Ohio Health are linked, so they can all see my continuum of care. I took screen shots of my Mount Carmel test results to share with my OSU care provider. When you come in by ambulance as I did, you get priority in the emergency department. So I got a room right away, and I was seen very quickly. I had donated blood earlier in the afternoon but after dinner I was passing out. They did all the standard tests and determined that my heart was fine. The nurses were responsive and helpful. The most impressive part of this visit was how quickly I was discharged. I expected a very late night, waiting for test results to come back, but the time came more quickly than I anticipated. I spent a total of three hours there. (I think. I was a little out of it at the beginning and not paying attention to when exactly I arrived.) It was not great that I couldn't have anyone with me, but that's this covid world we're living in. I didn't even have my phone to call my husband, but fortunately the nurse let me borrow his. We even had to coordinate my husband dropping off new clothes for me, since what I had been wearing was soiled. The nursing team handled that without any issues. By the time I left, I was able to walk on my own without assistance and without passing out. Of course, they always wheel you out regardless of how well you can walk on your own! At least in my experience. Thank you, Mount Carmel St. Ann's for taking such good care of me. Now if you could just link your charts!

However, the outpatient part here has been nothing but amazing. They communicate very well, they are direct with no BS, accommodating and work with you to actually assist, instead of creating more stressors. Terra is an office manager here and has made the experience so seamless, setting the true expectations from the beginning. Krystal is a therapist, who is simply amazing bc she is able to be bluntly honest without coming off as insensitive or a jerk. She educates. So many people need this for themselves! The workers are of no help of trying to get people to be able to visit or ask questions about things that are going on and how a patient is doing. This place is a joke and i cant imagine if the workers are not wanting to help family members see a patient what are they doing to care for them!!!! I am so frustrated with this place. It's been almost a week and we have heard nothing back from a case worker or anything. Does anyone know of the head person I can get in touch with because this is crazy how am I supposed to know if my loved one is ok when no one is trying to help me or talk to me!!!!
