Maintenance workers do a fantastic job! The place is beautiful and peaceful. The workers are always pleasant.

A well maintained cemetery. The lawns are beautiful and I always see people walking here for exercise. I've noticed the tall towers from miles around, especially when I'm driving on Route 8. I'm an avid birder, and I have found some unique species of birds here over the years. read more

I'd give this a negative if I could. Sadly, I loved this place as a child. Dating to 1901, it was once beautiful. It's in horrible shape, with no sign of care to improve it. In the 1960s-early '70s, the Memorial Day parade was great fun for we kids as we pedaled our decorated bikes in the parade along Mt. Royal to the cemetery. Of course, we didn't understand the solemnity of the day. The cemetery was well cared for, the Moses Fountain functioned and had lovely landscaping around it, and many times we'd ride our bikes along the narrow hilly lanes. Mom died in 2006, and I noticed then that the back of the Mausoleum was in terrible shape. Dad died in 2016 -- no improvements. Last time I was there to tend to my parents' grave, I was outright appalled at the disrepair. The Fountain, long dry, with weed trees growing up around it; the Mausoleum -- the original an Art Deco beauty, is apparently now condemned (what of the loved ones, including vets, interred inside?!), no water for fresh flowers, and some lanes are mere rubble. Whoever owns the cemetery now (Kyper?) overcharges like crazy (and has been at least since 2006, our first encounter while traumatized by Mom's sudden death in an auto accident) -- it's an abomination. We learned this when my father died here in eastern PA and we compared prices with a Funeral service that does NOT charge by commission - we only paid the Glenshaw cemetery to open/close Dad's spot for the urn we purchased here, and they gave us a VERY hard time about it. Thank God we had good guidance from our local professional. This Memorial Day it's important to express gratitude to those who served and even gave their lives. It's also important to show reverence for their - and everyone's - resting place by demanding decent upkeep. Apparently right now for the owners (Kyper?) it's about big profits. For shame. read more

How are you gonna sell someone a burial plot for $13000 +, give them a deed and promise they will be next to their loved ones for all eternity then bury a STRANGER in that grave that was heftily paid for and not do anything to correct it? What's next - is Mt. Royal management gonna just start moving people into my house? I can see from the other reviews this is something they do often. If you were thinking about prepaying for a plot I hope this changed your mind. Obviously they just take your money and do whatever the hell they want. read more

I am only giving them one star because I can't give zero. We have relatives buried there and for over 20 years have seen how little they do. It took 2 years for my father-in-law's vase to be fixed despite numerous promises it would be done "right away". His veteran marker was broken (and stolen) and it took forever to replace. American flags are often run over by the grass cutters and nothing is done. It's sad to see how little respect is paid to people especially the vets. Yesterday on our visit we saw two WWII vet's markers run over. One was bent beyond repair and the other ripped out of the ground. It will be interesting to see when they are fixed. If there is no one around to report things nothing is done. If someone is around it takes six months to a year. Very sad. Once they get your money they forget who you are. read more

This is a great cemetery. The roads/paths could be paved a bit better, but that's not a huge deal. Very serene place.

Our family was informed by the cemetery on the day of my mother's death that they would as a kind gesture send a notice to a list of family and friends informing them of location of our mother burial site at the cemetery by mailing them a nice "bookmarker" that they requested we select from their book. They used the addresses provided by us to solicit business. Although they included the nice "bookmarker" with death notice on back, it could easily be missed by recipient after seeing letter was a sales solicitation by the cemetery. Nothing at beginning of letter about our mother's death. One recipient told me she thought it was in bad taste. I was very upset to know they used my mother's death for their own gain. Good reason to just have my ashes thrown in the ocean. read more

My wife and I were wronged by Mt. Royal Cemetery in Glenshaw PA. My mother passed away and she is entombed there. The workers there put her in the wrong vault inside the mausoleum, then had to drag her out very barbarically from the ground floor, Their handling of my mothers casket during this ceremony was very unprofessional, disrespectful and very unnerving for us to witness. Come to find out, back in 1999 when my father passed, they put him in the wrong way too and had to pull him out of his place of rest in order to fix their mistakes. Also, the sales agents there fooled us into doing sales marketing for them, misrepresenting a task to collect close families names, addresses and phone numbers for keep sake memory cards and a map to my mother's vault. Come to find out this was used to market their unsold grave sites, they provided no map to her site, just cheesy sales pitch letters and bent up memory cards. I am appalled at this as I spent hours collecting these names and addresses during the funeral parlor times - taking away precious last moments to view and be with my mothers body. read more
