My doctor never acknowledged this whole experience nor did the pain MD I had seen before the operation to quell my fears. Great. And the whole throwing ice packs at the door to get the nurses attention is now in my medical record. Really.

She was out of the Montefiore ER and sent back 2 hours later. Also did not do a body scan or urine analysis which is very common in the elderly population, especially if they fall. Due to extreme negligence, she wound up in another ER less than 2 days later. She was immediately admitted and is still there over 2 weeks later. I blame Montefiore for this. I wish I could give it no stars! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!

You could feel their concern for you. I was admitted on the 22nd of September and spent the night I had a male nurse (Theo) who made a big impression on me. He explained everything he was going to do. Always smiling and when I was admitted later he came up to my room to make sure I was doing well. This man went to school, studied and worked no time for a life. Thank you the dedicated workers in the E.R. and on the 5th floor . Also, Ms. Coombs patient care director who talked to each patient asking how their stay is and how they can improve the quality of care. She even got a repair worker in to fix my tv fast. Thank you Dr. Miyazaki for discharging me. I had one person to pick me up with a time limit. He went out of his way to discharge me right away. The hospital was clean and well staffed. Their care makes an unwanted visit a little more pleasant.

The doctors themselves were solid. The OB/GYN who cared for my wife stood out. Professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Dr. Kevin Molyneux also made a strong impression. He was focused, clear, and took good care of my wife. Where things fell short was with the overall staff experience. Bedside manner across much of the team was lacking. Interactions felt dismissive at times, especially in the emergency department. Basic coordination also needs work. Housekeeping was requested multiple times and never showed up. Communication between shifts was inconsistent. There were gaps in handoffs and documentation, which made it harder to understand what had already been done and what came next. The facility itself feels dated and doesn't reflect the standard I associate with NYP. I'm giving 3 stars because the doctors delivered where it mattered most. But based on this experience, we would choose a Manhattan NYP location next time.

This hospital has a high rating so I took a chance. What a waste of my time. If I had known the incompetence of some of the staff here, I would have rather let myself bleed out than come here. First time I have said this, but I actually like the doctors more than the nurses and other supporting staff. Triage was a nightmare. I only said a total of two sentences, which wasn't enough to explain the reason I was there, because she cut me off so she could type it down. I have never met someone who typed like a kindergartener. It took nearly 20 minutes for her to type a literal 3 sentences. The ER nurses, physicians, and surgical team were lovely. I was medicated, sent to a CT, and admitted in under 5 hours. However, the regular hospital team on the inpatient floor? Wow. No words to describe my horror and disappointment. Again, the surgical team was lovely and transparent. The nurses all need to be fired or restrained. God forbid a nurse at this hospital does their job. My IV line kept causing the machine to beep and I had to keep silencing it because the nurses were too busy doing absolutely nothing to come turn it off. Also, I complained TWICE about the lady I was sharing a room with. She would not shut up, talking in her sleep, groaning, moaning, and making all sorts of inappropriate noises all night. Both times I complained? The nurse peeked around the curtain to ask if the woman was okay, ignored me, and walked out. No reprimand, no attempt to explain to this lady that she waa being disruptive. I did not get an hour of sleep the entire evening. I had an Asian woman come in to do my blood just now and I had to tell her off. Why? Because she was attempting to draw blood without actually looking for a vein. She was going based off what she could see. She poked around in my opposite arm before giving up and going into my hand. No warning, no communication, no prodding with her finger to find the best vein. She just went into whatever she saw. It was painful because she kept moving it in and out since the blood wasn't flowing well (hm, wonder why) and I moved because it was painful. She had the audacity to tell me she wasn't done and I told her to please get me a nurse who knew what they were doing because clearly she didn't and was being reckless. Aside from the crappy staff, the building is a health hazard. The floor of the CT was disgusting, clearly hasn't been swept or mopped in God knows how long. The entire hospital is disgusting. The bathroom in my inpatient room was dirty, not cleaned or wiped down. The surgeons and doctors are who saved it for me. But considering nurses and other supporting staff are the main faces, please get rid of all of them. Terrible workers. Thus why people would rather travel to Manhattan for their medical care.

She was given a bed, but we waited approximately an hour before anyone came to properly assess her. While we were waiting, my mom became extremely dizzy and appeared to be fainting. A nurse named Eva was walking by with doctors, so I immediately told her that my mom was getting worse and that she was losing consciousness. Instead of coming over to assess my mom or getting someone to help, she yelled at me, "But she's breathing, right?!" and continued walking. I was shocked by the response. The people who were with her were also visibly shocked, and even the woman in the bed next to my mom was upset enough to ask for the nurse's name. Another interaction was equally concerning. A staff member came to take my mom for imaging and asked whether she could walk. I explained that she could not walk independently and that, although she is not paralyzed, she is extremely weak and would need assistance getting into a wheelchair. She responded, "I didn't ask you for that." I told her, "Why are you talking to me like that? Please speak to me with respect." She then walked away and said, "She'll remain there," and never came back. I also personally witnessed four other people leave the ER while we were there, clearly frustrated with their experience. Seeing multiple people leaving while patients were still waiting only added to my concerns about how things were being handled. Breathing is not the only indication that someone is okay. My mother had extremely high blood pressure, chest pain, and was becoming faint right in front of us. As a family member, I was asking for help because I was genuinely concerned about her condition. Patients come to an emergency room because they need to be taken seriously and assessed when something changes. Being spoken to that way while trying to get help for my mother was unacceptable and deeply upsetting. This was only the beginning of our experience, and unfortunately, there were additional concerns during her stay. I will be documenting those experiences as well. I sincerely hope the hospital looks into how patients and their families are being treated in this ER. With that said, the one bright spot in our care was Dr. Cohen. In stark contrast to the rest of our experience, Dr. Cohen was exceptional. He was extremely compassionate, thoroughly attentive, and treated both my mother, me and other patients with genuine kindness and respect. He took the time to listen to our concerns, explain everything clearly, and provide the high level of professional, thoughtful care that every patient in an emergency room deserves. Dr.Cohen represents the absolute best in medicine, and we are deeply grateful for his help during such a stressful time.
