Now you will step into a piece of history all around you while you're here. This was a Civil War era site that was used for hard tack for soldiers. They have trees in this park with blood stained stress of the past. They have a monument of democracy that is on display that highlights the accounts and accomplishments of the founding of what it means to be "free." How many centuries of strife and struggle that we endured and still have today. Be proud of your ancestors and what they accomplished and remember the past. Walk in the park and enjoy the parades and celebrations that the city puts on. This is a little beautiful slice of history and heaven here. Walk out and see what was and has been preserved for you.

The park has plenty of nice area to sit and relax and they have a couple cool sculptures that you can learn about us history. Including the visually impressive Thomas Jefferson statue. Overall cool and nice park that is a good place to just hang out and enjoy a day and take in some sights.

It sits beautifully and gigantically on the middle of a roundabout with several shoppes and places to eat surrounding this. Even as a kid when visiting my old Kentucky home the thing I remembered most was the "big building that had a circle around it". Just makes it shout that it's important. Note city halls should do that. Defiantly hard to miss. From what I could gather this mainly serves as the welcoming center now but still has some branches of government work held here. The outside is beautiful with plenty of places to sit and a couple cool monuments to Bardstown heroes and famous alumni. Overall I still love driving by or around this building. Very cool site to see and I look how I can go inside it now that it's a visitors center. Cool piece of Kentucky history and architecture here.

Sky dome is beautiful aerial view located in turkey run park…read more If you park in the parking lot labeled sky Meadow/sky dome. Walk to the left past boulder pond and go up the concrete path you will shortly see some rock and nature steeps up a tiny hill. Walk up there and take in the great view and find a perfect place to take in a sunset or just relax. The dome circles back around to the a concrete path. You can take a left at that to go back to your car in the parking lot. Or you can go right and follow the concrete path which is a combo of sky Meadow excursion trail and the bullfrog crossing trail and it will lead you to the other end of the parking lot.

So it's not really on a map per se but I knew this area and I knew that it was a cool place to fine and to look over the whole park. My daughter and I wanna pair walked around it was cool I had some rocks and walls to climb on so it's definitely a cool little place to check out. So I would suggest packing up your whole family going to Boulder pawn and then checking out Skydome while looking for the excursion and seeing all the nice beautiful sceneries I know will do it again as a whole family soon

Easy to miss as it's labeled with a small marker on the ground with the "read to succeed" message. Overall it's always cool to see public art or monuments and this one is no different. I like how it fits the theme of reading and being on a library property and sending a positive message.

It's a nice little piece of local history about Adam Shepherd and how the town got started. The sign is well kept and easy to read, but it's really just a quick stop -- not much else around it besides the courthouse lawn. Worth a look if you're already in the area, but probably not something you'd go out of your way to see. Glad to see Shepherdsville is adding all their historical significance

This marker sits at an important intersection in the center of the original downtown of the city of…read moreNew Albany. The buildings and the layout show the design of the last two centuries. The marker is in excellent condition and is on two sides. On the first side, it reads "New Albany lots were advertised for sale 1813. It was designated county seat 1819, incorporated as town 1836, then as city 1839. Area within the district was part of early plat of New Albany. District boundaries are roughly West 1st to East 5th streets and East Spring to East and West Main streets." On the second side, "District reflects the historical development and commercial growth of New Albany. It contains a collection of outstanding examples of nineteenth and twentieth century commercial and institutional buildings and a few domestic structures. Listed in National Register of Historic Places 1999." It's worth a visit. [Review 13502 overall, 821 of 2020.]
