We stayed at the BLM's Ken's Lake Campground for one night in early May, 2024. The campground is…read morepart of the Ken's Lake Recreation Area, which includes the namesake reservoir, the campground, and day use area. Boating is permitted, with electric motors only. Ken's Lake, which is about ten miles south of Moab, is a gorgeous area, with red rock fins to the east, sage brush flats to the south and west, and a reservoir to the north. The campground has two loops. Loop A can accommodate larger RVs, and require reservations through Recreation.gov or on-site through Scan and Pay if you've downloaded the Recreation.gov app. Note that there is almost no shade in this loop. Loop B is intended for smaller vehicles and tents. These are first-come, first served sites with payment thru Scan and Pay or by check or cash. Note that the campground is closed during the hottest summer months. See recreation.com for exact dates. We had a spacious, quiet non-electric site with gorgeous views. It was an easy walk down to the lake, and an easy drive to Arches National Park (15 miles?) The park was quiet overall but even more so when the day use patrons left for the day. There were clean restrooms, but no showers. The campground felt safe. The price for a site was reasonable, especially with a NPS Senior Interagency Pass. We would definitely stay here again.

It's pretty cool that you can basically drive right up to the shore & park. No lugging anything down to the water & back. Puppy friendly w/ leash. (No pups were leashed ) How could they swim ?!? And the lake is very puppy friendly. Lots of shallow shores. Lots of puppies swimming and on SUP's ! Zero amenities, Zero cel Svc., but two outdoor restroom units.! Only one had hand sanitizer. It's kinda out in the middle of nowhere so noise shouldn't be a problem. (7/7 & 7/8/23)

All solid bolts with the exception of the second bolt on the second pitch are slightly loose but unfortunately didn't have the equipment to fix. Just bolts on third pitch anchors, no chains or rings. A 60m rope runout on a double rap on the third pitch, but it's walkable to pitch 2 anchors --make sure you close the system. Climbed on 06-22-2018. Didn't see any rattlers on this climb --though their holes are everywhere.

We decided to check out Looking Glass Arch for a quickie climb before we headed back to CO. I had…read moreread about an easy 3-pitch bolted route (Regular Route) that tops out on the summit followed by an ~115 ft free hanging rappel. We were a bit thrashed from climbing Honeymoon Chimney the day prior in nasty winds and my climbing partner was sick, so this seemed like the perfect objective. The amphitheater/arch are quite spectacular and it's worth the short hike even if you don't want to climb. We were there on a Sunday and it wasn't a zoo like some areas in Arches. The arch is ~5 min from the parking lot. No water/bathrooms so plan ahead. DIRECTIONS The easiest way to get to the arch is to turn right on Looking Glass Road (23 miles from central Moab on Hwy 191 south). If you hit Wilson Arch you've gone too far. Once on Looking Glass Road the side road to Looking Glass Rock is signed. The road is passable with 2WD or low clearance vehicles.

The Juniper Ridge Family Cabin (located 3 miles north of Blanding, Utah) is an absolutely beautiful log cabin type accommodations with a stunning wrap around deck, picnic table and fully working outside grill. It has a fully furnished kitchen, dining room table with all the amenities and equipment you could hope for, and a washer & dryer. There are 4 double bedrooms and a bunk bed, also a futon on a top floor. It has 2 full bathrooms although the one on the bottom floor is quite intimate. As you're lying in the bath you can hear and smell what's going on in the loo next door! There are 2 separate and spacious living rooms on different floors with comfortable seating. Its location is simply gorgeous on Blue Mountain Road with amazing views in all directions. WIFI, TV and DVD are provided. I loved staying here. It's just perfect. Blanding is also a very friendly town and you can buy all provisions from the very well stocked Clarks supermarket very close by. You gave to look at the photos to get a real approximation. The dramatic, jaw-dropping views of the of the Colorado River, as it meanders green-brown through ions of rock strata and history, is nothing like I've ever seen. They've really built a great overlook there; well paved, comfortable and thoughtful, with places to sit and take it all in (--Hah! Fat chance; it would take you weeks to let it settle into your brain. You just don't want to move, it is so breathtaking). The silence there is profound and the picture perfect day we had today (mid 70's with puffy clouds against a deep blue sky) made it stunning in every way.

This is a small park, but well worth it. The views are just jaw-dropping…read more If you are in Moab, you need to come here. It's just off the north entrance to Canyonlands. There are stone fneces to keep kids safe at the major viewpoints as well. If you are here near mealtime, make sure to visit the ladies at the lunch shack outside the visitors center. The food is expensive (of course) but it's made fresh and tastes great.
