I snapped a picture of their jam session schedule.

Such a welcoming and friendly little spot, I'm not a musician but we've gone in a couple of times for our young son to look around his eyes grow so wide looking at the many instruments. They are so friendly, would love to check out one of their jam sessions.

How did i not know about this hidden gem in my city? Admittedly writing this review with a huge delay, but my health has had me preoccupied. The tickets are very reasonable, they offer bites and sips but not at crazy high prices... in fact they don't have any set prices for this!!!! Its on a donation system. The owners are amazing! Interesting, engaging, and treat everyone like family. I wad so completely impressed by them, their knowledge, friendliness, and support of the arts. There is no bad seat in the concert hall. You ate literally up close and personal with the artists, who also take time to talk to the patrons and ate incredibly personable. This entire experience was absolutely amazing. I will be back.... a lot!

I'm very impressed with this store. Rene, the owner, warmly greeted us when we entered. Her personality and knowledge is what made this visit very amazing. When we told her we were looking for a ukulele, and that we were novices, she never tried to use that against us to make money or treat us like we were ignorant of music. The only thing that came from our interactions with her, was how much she loved music. She talked about the magic of the different sounds of the different ukuleles, and by the end of the conversation I had learned to hear what she heard. She's a great teacher. She also has a great selection of unique brands, some no longer being made, some directly from Hawaii that she hand picked for their uniqueness. We left with a new ukulele, a pineapple style designed for Daniel Ho. We will be back to join the ukulele club that Rene mentioned!

The Reno Swing Set and 6 Mule Pile Up @ Mountain Music Parlor, Reno

My husband and I were in Reno looking for some live bluegrass and folk music and found Mountain Music Parlor. What a find!A wonderful old home converted into a music store filled with guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, dulcimers, banjos, harps and so much more and lots of music memorabilia and they offer music lessons too!We had a great time listening to The Reno Swing Set and 6 mule pile up wonderful show! Come enjoy live music again!!

Rene says you have to name your ukulele - so I named mine Mai Tai.

When I decided to take up ukulele lessons, I went straight to this local gem of a business where I met Rene, the owner. Rene was fantastic - she spent over an hour with me, showing me the different ukuleles and strumming them for me so that I could hear the difference between the instruments. Rene helped me pick out a beautiful, zebra-wood Concert size. She gave me a quick history of the ukulele - did you know that Portuguese immigrants introduced the ukulele to Hawaii? Rene even showed me a few chords to get me started. I really appreciated this personalized service - something you wouldn't get at more commercial businesses. And, Rene is such a sweet and fun spirit. I can't wait to "jam" with her and participate in her get-togethers.

Great place to check out instruments, concerts, and jam sessions. The first time I went in, I lost track of time checking out everything.

Ask the Community - Mountain Music Parlor

Can you play the instruments specifically the drums and can you be part of a jam session?

Hello there! Yes,,,Drums will fit into the Blues and Old School Country Pickin' Party! Space is very limited, as in extremely limited., so your kit will have to be a pared…

Passing through within the next month or so... any open mic nights currently? If not could you point me in the right direction? Traveling musician trying to play while on the road

Hello,,, There are a few, but not really sure where and when...we don't get out much! Best wishes

We had to fill out a credit check form for the rental program. They presented us with both a used and new violin option with reasonable pricing for renting and insurance. Their program is great where we can rent-to-own if we decide later to purchase it. All the rental payments are put towards the purchase which is awesome. They also allow you to switch it out if our child outgrows the size. It was a super easy process to pick up a rental instrument and seems like the store has quite the variety of supplies for both wind and string instruments.

After pulling out the saxophone 30 years, unused, the cork was decaying, crumbling, and dry . We called around a few places, and these guys were fast efficient and a good price. Around $30. I went in with my wife to pick it up, told the guy I was doing some classical guitar and I got an on the spot private tutor lesson lol. It was pretty awesome. All of the suggestions The guy had for me as a new guitar player were perfect. He recommended me a good book to start with. How to properly hold a guitar, etc.. I know things are cheaper on the Internet, and the two things that he recommended to me were definitely cheaper, however, you can't get this type of service from Amazon .

Shipping was free, but some things are better picked up in person when you can. You can't really tell from outside that inside there's a really large, well laid out display of guitars and accessories. We had already purchased the guitar I wanted, but I asked to have it unboxed, and to take a closer look and try it out in person. They do individual listings by guitar, so the pictures you see online are of the actual guitar you're buying, which is great. Everything was exactly as shown, and again, it's a lucky find that Bizarre Guitar is local. The store has been in business and family-owned since 1974 (one of the people helping us said he'd been coming here since he was a kid)! Amazing to have such a long history for a music store, and to be able to survive after the emergence of chain stores. I did see that their online return policy was pretty strict, but it also explained that they're getting flooded with returns by people who just wanted to try a guitar out, and while some big box retailers can handle that, it's not sustainable for an independent owner. I am beyond happy with my purchase, and would 100% buy from them again. TIP: Check out their sales on Reverb...unbelievable prices.

Until I received them and the Gibson slash les Paul's low e string did not sit in the nut but sat on top of the nut. And had horrible fretbuzz. I contacted them and was told it's normal then was told Gibson plinks their instruments so it's sitting as designed. I contacted a couple of luthiers that said the nut needs to be replaced. So I contacted bizarre again and simply asked to exchange the guitar for one that didn't have the issue. They then told me they set the guitar up for low action and I should adjust the truss rod. Granted that may help the buzz but wouldn't correct the fact the string is still sitting on top of the nut and also if Gibson set it up what did they need to change it. The strap locks were also installed which is not from the factory. They refused to exchange the guitar even though it says there was 14 day return period. Now I'm stuck paying for a repair on a nut on a what's supposed to be a brand new guitar or waiting months for a warranty claim. Spend your money else where they appreciate your business. I wouldn't even spend 25 cent at this store for a pick.
