The lush green grass that once lined our walking paths and roadways has been replaced by brown patches, broken sprinklers, and a desert-like landscape that does not reflect the character or appearance of the community we chose to live in. As homeowners, we continue to pay higher HOA dues with the expectation that those funds will be invested back into maintaining and improving our neighborhood. Unfortunately, a simple drive through the community tells a different story. The deterioration of our landscaping and common areas raises legitimate concerns about where our HOA dues are being spent. I urge the HOA Board to be transparent about how our assessments are being allocated and to prioritize restoring and properly maintaining the common areas. Our community deserves to reflect the level of investment that homeowners are making each month.

Came here on a snowy day and love love loved it!…read more It was quiet and serene except for the sound of hail and snow falling. We did a bit of a hike and there were some good elevation points for a sled ride. You can also find uniquely large pine cones here which can be sappy and poky so handle with care.

What an incredible privilege to ascend a sleeping snowy giant on the somber silence of a Sunday. The bright crunch of the grains of snow underfoot crying out loudly from the sudden unwelcome friction of my boots of untrodden once warmed, now frozen snow. The silence broke only by The chestnut-backed chickadee (Poecile rufescens) casually crying out alerting the rest of the environment to my presence. The silence grows. Snowshoeless descending towards the frigid rapids of the burble glossy eddies hidden below the abundant heavy snow. Stop movement. Inhale. Release.

First time here and it was for a baseball scrimmage for my nephew…read more Baseball fields are really nice. Nice seats and there is some cover and shade from the sun. Whole park is really nice, green, and clean. Huge complex with all kinds of fields for different sports and plenty of parking available. The city did a really good job when they built this place.

I was here for Daisy Chain Fields tonight and an excellent summary of the experience I overheard…read morewas "the musical performances were great, too bad this is the only thing people will remember". The "this" she was referring to was the unmitigated disaster that was the rideshare situation in Parking Lot 4. Drop off was fine, but the parking lot pick up procedure was both confusing, frustrating and a complete debacle. Keep in mind there were 45,000 attendees at least a third of whom probably booked a rideshare. Not only did police and event staff block off entry completely around 11:00PM (the show ended at 10:00PM) we were redirected to another parking lot supposedly letting drivers in (but didn't end up doing so) leaving people completely stranded to fend for themselves for their way home. Nobody seemed to have any idea what was going on or who had accurate information. You were completely out of luck if your phone died. Lord knows how you'd manage to get home. Our party didn't end up getting home until 1:30AM, 3.5 hours after the event ended. My guess is there's probably some kind of bizarre city ordinance that requires event spaces/parking lots close to residential homes to close at certain hours which is why they forced everyone out of Parking Lot 4 before anyone actually got picked up. I know this is the first year this music festival was held here and the space isn't properly prepared for traffic this size but this was completely unacceptable and avoidable. Shuttles and parking closer to the event were both pricy and sold out so for some folks the only reasonable alternative was a rideshare. What was otherwise an enjoyable space gave people a terrible impression and a bad taste in their mouths not to return to a place so poorly equipped to handle transport. If you're going to hold huge events like this, sort out the rideshare situation after the event or not do them at all at Irvine Great Park.

this was my first time trying disc golf but i had so much fun! with an ultimate frisbee background,…read moreit was an adjustment since the discs are smaller and thrown at a diff angle than with the big discs. the guy up front was super helpful and knowledgeable in helping my friend and i choose discs. it was only $3 to play on weekdays for an 18-hole course !!! such a steal. most holes were par 3 and we did par 4 on most so don't be intimidated if you're a beginner like me in disc golf. it's a nice stroll in the park with a frisbee twist, scenery is beautiful (esp the lake) and locals are so encouraging! i would definitely come back 10/10 experience all around

Lots of back and forth in certain parts of the course so be mindful of your fellow players. Keep up the etiquette as well to offer others to pass through who have less in your group that play faster. UCI hosted the 1979 World Frisbee…read moreGolf Championship (watch a clip of it here : http://youtu.be/HwG9psXsOMs) where temporary baskets were laid out to form an 18 hole course. Over time, the course and the area where the course is laid out has gone through many changes. While not recognized by the disc golf community as being a destination course, a handful of old timers, college kids, and area golfers keep the UCI course alive and remembered. As of 2013, the course has no real representation through social media and other disc golf outlets (DGCoursereview.com doesn't even list it). It's a course that is usually passed by word of mouth. Besides a simple website (listed above) that features info on the course and maps of the courses' layout, there's little information out there. There are no signs, no maps and no information at the campus besides faded arrows pointing you to the next pin location. This is definitely an "insiders" course. Perhaps the biggest reason why this course isn't a huge draw for disc golfers is the fact it's a pole target course. There are no baskets. Mind you that target courses were used back in the 60s before the "pole hole" basket was invented by Ed Headrick (an original basket can be found at Oak Grove DGC in Pasadena, the first permanent course in the world). Here's how it works : there are a total of three 18 hole courses laid out and around UCI's Aldrich Park. The first 18 holes are represented by light poles with white tape wrapped around it. The second 18 holes are represented by black tape and the third set of 18 are represented by green tape. There is also a 9 hole "playoff" course represented by red tape. This makes a total of 63 holes. Tee pads are represented by small painted arrows (or in some cases dots). Many are faded and sometimes hard to see. Light poles can also be used as more than one pin location, as you will see multiple color tape on those poles. I managed to only play the first 18 holes before having to leave for a family get together, but I must admit that playing here was really fun (especially if you can get a group together...I played with 8 people). The fact that the campus is so quiet on a Sunday morning makes for a pleasant experience. I was skeptical about shooting at light poles (how fun is that?) but it made you really focus your putting. I can see that playing this course would make you hone in on your mid range game and putting, since you're aiming for something quite thin in size. Also another interesting side to playing here is the fact that buildings come into play sometimes. Also love the fact that there are some elevation throws too. A few other key points about playing at UCI : - If you're a first time player of the course, I STRONGLY SUGGEST coming out with a local who at least somewhat knows the layout of the course. I ended up playing with someone who pretty much grew up playing here with his dad. Since the park is a huge circle, getting lost from hole to hole would be quite easy to do if you're a newbie. It will save you a ton of time playing with someone familiar with the course layout. - Being how this is a large university, I would suggest playing here on weekends...although my buddy says playing here during the week is do-able. Keep an eye out for people walking, jogging, riding bikes and other various activities along the pathways. - Pretty much any ivy patch and or ice plant (http://projects.trnerr.org/invasives/assets/templates/plants/picts/carpobrotus_edulis1.jpg) is out of bounds, unless the light pole is in a patch. Bushes and other plants are safe. - Please keep a low profile when playing here. In other words, respect the rules of the university. It would be very easy for the university to eliminate any signs of a course being here if they see it was a draw to "bad elements". We want this course to be around (and maybe return to glory) for a long, long time. Please respect it and enjoy it.

The UDisc app was the only way to get through it, and it took so long. Unfortunately, it seems like this is the best course in OC that isn't temp and doesn't cost money, except to park.
