Inside you quickly see the namesake St Bernard dogs who own the joint, which their own room and freedom to roam around. Inside it felt like a traditional British style pub with a good selection of beer and food. We only got drinks out, with the real draw being the patio out back that overlooks the mountains and valleys beyond. There were paths below and gardens with flowers too. Clearly this is the most popular area as they had lots of tables of varying sizes and many happy parties enjoying the view too. There were also many amazing birds flying around and perching on the railings. If you're nearby, this is a great spot. I'm sure it'd be fun to stay at the hotel too.

I always dread the drive up mount tamborine, I have always been a nervous passenger, but add to…read morethat the winding and turning hill climb late at night with fog and all, and there's nowhere else I would want to be than in my bed in my room at the tamborine motel! We stay up here at the same time every year for the last three years. And love it every time!! Location - right next door to St Bernard's, so you can always get a decent steak, and some plonk from bottle shop, and get to cuddle a gorgeous St. Bernard!! What more can you ask for! Try and get a room on the second floor to really enjoy the view. There's nothing like waking up and looking out to the dewy beauty of mount tamborine, makes that deadly drive totally worth it Oh and did I mention HEATED BLANKETS!! The couple who run it are lovely, approachable and friendly, and will go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable, There's a pool, but man. It's so cold up there that the only people who swim are drunks bomb diving at 3am on a dare :)

Lots of beers to choose from but make sure you make your decision quickly as the lady behind the bar was an impatient biatch. Clearly, she wasn't enjoying the view. Lots of native wildlife around here which also made it a lovely spot to stop for an afternoon beer.

So when we ordered 4 kids meals and 4 adults meals I don't think that expecting them to come, say within an hour of each other, would be to unrealistic. Actually I'd go so far too say, based on 30 years in the industry, that half an hour might be more realistic. However in this case it was 2 hours. Yep, 2 hours between first 2 kids meals and last 2 adult meals. WTF. That's not the worst part. Clearly they stuffed the order. It happens. But getting lied to by the manager in the white shirt , and having it implied we should have ordered earlier and that's it's coming in 5 minutes( we ordered at 12:30, ate at 2:30) is really , well, amateur, childish , rude and pathetic. No sorry, no honesty, just ass covering. Take your $30 thin overcooked tbone and shove it. Never again. Go to St Bernards hotel instead. They actually care there. The band was good though.

The woman who greeted us was lovely. She was so friendly and informative. The hotel provides you with a ton of information on activities and restaurants. They cover all of the bases for what you might want or need while on Mt Tamborine. The only downside is the rooms could use a bit of updating and cleaning. The carpet in our room was really old, and the bathtub had mold in the grout and on the beams around the bathtub. It also rained during our stay and the ceiling leaked in our room.

Sadly, good food is where this restaurant stops being memorable. The service here is poor. We arrived to a half-empty restaurant but had to remind staff we were waiting on several occasions. Once we did, we saw the bottle of wine we ordered sitting at the side of the bar for at least 10 minutes before we alerted someone to the fact it was ours. When we ordered a second bottle (there was a group of us, ok?) the server walked off with the first bottle that wasn't finished! So, a potentially amazing restaurant let down by sub-standard service. Ultimately a bit disappointing.
