After a short illness, my father was referred to Shaker Place Nursing and Rehab Center. You hear so…read moremany horror stories about Nursing homes that I was afraid to trust any home with his care. However, I was delighted to find the staff at Shaker Place to be wonderful. They were caring and treated my Dad with respect and kindness. They answered all my questions and worked with us to provide optimum quality care. They kept my Dad comfortable and were a trusted source when my family and I couldn't be there. A special thanks to Dr. Caufield, Remi, Christine, Ashley and Karen. Also, special thanks for his Hospice nurse Kimberly.

just now NEW This…read morepost below was what I wrote in complete desperation after this facility called us and informed us we would have a bed available for my grandmother Lois Mccormick. Then! We never heard from them again. Months after being told just 3 weeks. Not one phone call and now she's not well. And I believe shaker place would of played a good part in keeping her comfortable. Shame on you ! Post I submitted to a caregiver support group. (BELOW) I need some guidance. My gram was placed in a facility after falling. After almost 6 months of waiting to get her placed. She ended up in a facility I don't like. The facility we were waiting on just never called us after they told us 3 weeks. I called every day. They just completely ghosted us (shaker nursing home, Albany New York) Shaker Place Rehabilitation & Nursing Center watching her drop pounds and seem over sedated. There's a man on her floor and he's aggressive and punched her. The nurses seem cold and not friendly. ( won't mention the facility out of protection for her) I can't sleep at night still. When I was taking care of her it was a nightmare. I watched the one person I love more then anything, turn into this scared psychotic monster. I almost wish I could bring her home. But it just wasn't safe. No matter what I did. I broke my leg the day before she was placed. And have only been able to see her three times in 3 months. I'm sick over it. Hysterical at night. Can't keep it together. I'm scared about things she will ask me. Or what to say. I don't want to create more confusion. She doesn't really even know here she is. Do I talk to her like normal ? Do I leave out things that could trigger memories of her house. Now empty. Do I talk of old relatives. How do I bring her happiness when I see her. And how the f--ck do I get her out of this place. Just start calling places who take her insurance and start the process all Over again? I can't sleep till I know she's all right. Something deep inside of me feels something isn't right there. Everyone seems overly medicated. Last week I got myself there and I just walked into the locked memory care facility. Gram was sleeping. Lethargic and out of it. I did not SEE ONE NURSE OR PERSON for over 45 minutes. And 45 minutes of me just freely walking around looking for anyone. This is off right ? There's something off.

As a former home care provider, I had two of my clients move from their homes where they were struggling to maintain their independence, into assisted living at Loudonville ALR. Both of them flourished in the community, where I often visited. They enjoyed the activities, the staff, and they loved the food! I was so impressed, that I joined the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence family as an employee. My time here has only strengthened my opinion that this is a great community. I love my job! The staff is kind, caring and committed. The residents are engaged and happy. (And the food is amazing!) I would highly recommend Loudonville ALR as a great place to work, and a great place to live!

My husband John and I have experienced several rehab facilities over the years. Some so-so, some…read morevery bad. John came to Glendale for rehab in early April 2025. What a wonderful place! John and I are very impressed. His private room is very spacious with three large picture windows looking out to lovely fields and woods. It's immaculately clean. All the staff are wonderful, especially OTs and PTs. They have given John many hours of therapy with great compassion, kindness, and professionalism. He is in a lot of pain. The aides and nurses are so caring and kind to him. In his younger years, he had a band which played at Glendale often. We love that there is entertainment in the Multi-Purpose Room about twice a week, including everything from folk bands, DJs, and even an Elvis impersonator! Last week, an ice cream social was held outside with a singer and Mr. Ding-a-Ling giving out ice cream. This type of thing helps relieve boredom which can happen easily when confined to a bedroom. Also, once a week religious services are given. As devout Catholics, we appreciate mass and communion each Tuesday. The Director Todd visits every resident to make sure they are happy and asks if there is anything he could do to help them. We never saw this before in other facilities. John says the food is wonderful. I wish I could eat there every day. A menu is given a month in advance so you can select all of your meals. On Thursdays, pizza is delivered by a local pizzeria. Every place is spotless. If you have any concerns, they are addressed immediately. So I thank everyone who works at Glendale Home. You make my life and my husband's live very much better. Thank you.
