This is an absolutely incredible spot. Our visit was nice and quiet. Amazing views, nearby adventures/hikes/activities. Very friendly staff. Cute spot with amazing views. We had room #9, which was a nice size, but not your typical motel experience. Quirky comes to mind. I love places like this, old motor-motels, with parking in front of your room, and have easy outside access (which is convenient when travelling with a pet) They seem to be in vogue again in many cities/towns across the country. It was clean enough and pet friendly. It's situated between Enterprise and Joseph, not quite walkable to either town, but a perfect location to explore the area. We went to Hells Canyon the following day. We stayed here years ago and wouldn't hesitate to again. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We had the best experience here. We came from CA & stayed 4 nights. The owners are awesome! We were running late (office hours are posted on their site & mentioned on their voice mail greeting), so we CALLED AHEAD & were able to arrange a LATE CHECK-IN. We pulled up to the coolest vintage motel - they even turned on the lights and had the cooler running for us! We stayed in the Sunflower Cabin #7 - this cozy, totally remodeled, super clean cabin was perfect. Thanks to the full kitchen w/fresh coffee, coffee maker, cream & sugar, we were set each morning - coffee on the deck started each day w/a bang! This little gem is surrounded by breathtaking views and is right down the road from the cutest town (you could walk there) - it's packed with dinning, gift shops, grocery/markets, activity options and is just a 5 minute drive to Wallowa Lake. We have stayed here over the years and always had a great experience. The owner really does his best to make the place comfortable. We stayed in the RV park and although a little tough to park bigger rigs we got our 33' 5th wheel in after a little work. The owner is not at all a "camp Nazi" as we call the overbearing owners we have experienced. The fact that there are "residents " as well as campers isn't a problem at all. If you just take the time to walk the park and say hi, you will see that everyone there is super nice. read more

We camped here in an RV and highly recommend it! Grounds were beautiful and quiet - the motel blocks the highway noise so you do not really notice it in the RV area. Bathrooms were sparkling clean! The ladies' showers were wonderful - I even washed my hair because of the privacy and good water pressure. In our RV spot we were able to plug into electric, and when we checked out we used the waste dump which was great because there was a hose next to it for a full cleanout. Scott, the manager, was great - he does all the maintenance himself and takes wonderful care of the place. read more

Small, dingy and with lots of highway noise. We checked out early. My wife and I stayed here recently and we expected small, but not single-wide small. From the lights that were timers (not switches) to the permanently affixed bath mat that kept shedding hair, this is not the place for most people. On the plus side, the price is right, and the view from the room we had of the mountains was great. The manager is also quite a piece of work. If you get him going in a conversation, be prepared to be kept awhile without hearing your own voice for several minutes. My personal favorite line (upon hearing that I am a teacher), "You know why the schools are so bad, cause socialism does not work!!" read more

Called to reserve a room when visiting the Joseph area with my dog. The state park campground was full and no other pet friendly places in town. Usually always reluctant of RV parks. So glad I came here! Love the small well appointed cabin-like room with fridge microwave and coffeemaker. Love that parking is directly in front of the room and a covered porch. And especially love that the room has a back slider door onto a deck surrounded by perfect grass and a full on view of the mountains. Wouldn't have this anywhere else. Walked around the grounds which are all super nice, perfect grass and lots of picnic tables and fire rings in the RV spaces. The strict pet-leash policy makes perfect sense. This is my new go-to pet friendly place in Joseph. Only cons are traffic noise from the highway which becomes very quiet after dark, and a mile out of town but that's why the expansive views and full day of sunlight (as opposed to the state park which is surrounded by mountains). The owner was super friendly and helpful to me. Highly recommend for road trippers and campers. read more

Scott keeps the RV/Tent Park immaculate. The motel is well cared for as well. However, he uses an antiquated reservation system, paper and pen. Our reservation was mishandled when we showed up thinking we had our reservations made for 5 days and it was only 3. We left and stayed in town. Ensure that you have your reservation in writing via email. read more

First off, we have a 30' travel trailer. This was our first visit to Joseph and we found this place online. I called ahead the day before to make a reservation. Upon arrival the manager could not find a place for us to park. He tried to park me off in the grass that was not even a camping spot. The hookups were on the wrong side and our door would have opened directly into another camper. After refusing he found another spot for us but had to move the sprinklers. The area was soaking wet. The other side is next to a horse pasture. We stayed two nights. There were about 50/50 campers vs. people living there full time. There was a creepy old guy living at the end near a pond. He would make comments to my wife and children when they walked by. I went down to speak to him but I think he was passed out. There were beer cans everywhere. We won't be staying here again. read more

I was a bit nervous, getting dropped off for a week with my dog, to relax and do my taxes. There was free ice, flush toilets, power and water at my site and he even accommodated me for the duration I needed with my tent. Worked every day on keeping the place so beautiful and the grass lush. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat and hope to! He offered several times to pick up any groceries if he was going into town. Loved the fountain that came on every night for an hour next to my site and the creek running behind me. read more

Can't speak highly enough of this place. We've stayed many places through our travels, and I'd have to say this is the best place of its kind that we've been to, and at a fantastic price for what you get. We stayed in one of the cabins with a bunk bed, queen size bed, and kitchenette. The cabin was exceptionally clean and had a fresh smell, and everything we could have possibly needed was fully and thoughtfully stocked. Beautiful view of the Wallowa mountains from our large patio. The staff there was exemplary and incredibly kind, took the time to go above and beyond in terms of service. Would certainly return and recommend to everyone I know. read more

Clean, comfy and affordable place to stay while visiting northeast Oregon. Rooms were cozy, furnished with the standard amenities such as a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, and satellite television. Although I wasn't traveling with my dog, the motel is pet friendly. The owner was very nice and the housekeeper did a wonderful job having the room cleaned every day. The grounds outside were really nice and inviting. We stayed two nights August 2018. It's a simple, pleasant, clean, pet friendly place in a nice setting. That's all good. We requested no housekeeping service and left the "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door. I am 99% certain that our room was entered and prescription medications were stolen. When we first arrived, I must say my expectations were low. However, I found the place to be clean, convenient, and charming, especially for $80. Oh, and the view of the mountains didn't hurt either. Our room was simple but included all of the amenities one might expect. The man working the front desk recommended a great little pizza place as well! A wonderful place to stay while visiting beautiful Wallowa County. I rented one of the 3 available kitchenettes for the month of March, 2013 and felt so at home, I ended up staying an extra week. I am a single woman traveling with a large dog. Finding pet friendly motels can be a challenge, however both my dog and I were immediately welcomed into the safe and friendly environment of the Mt. View Motel. The kitchenette was a perfect set-up: spacious and clean, with adequate dishware and counter space to prepare full meals, making it a very economical rental. There was plenty of room for my two friends to stay with me when they came through town. The owner, Scott (has owned the motel since August 2011), is continually working on improvements to the grounds and rooms. Friendly staff, well-behaved pets welcome, clean rooms, great location, beautiful mountain vistas at affordable rates - I highly recommend the Mt. View Motel. read more

Regarding Scott's response to Karen T. review. I am the "biker friends" that camped in the tent area. The camp site was beautiful and was well maintained. Scott, you have a beautiful park at a very reasonable price. For the record, we never requested to park on the grass on the site. We did request to park on the gravel next to the site and was denied. There would have been plenty of room for any large coach to pass by. Instead, we were required to park our motorcycles in an inconvenient and unsecured location across the park out of our view. Scott did accommodate us by allowing us to lock up our motorcycle trailers in the motel area in a safer location. Still inconvenient and out of our view from the back of the park, but at least safe. If you are comfortable with Scott's pencil and paper, verbal reservation system, then it is worth the risk. It is a nice place to stay. But, if there has been a mistake in your reservation, you have no confirmation number or written document to make your case. As was the situation with Karen T., you have no choice but to scramble for another room somewhere else in Joseph. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Mountain View Motel less than two weeks ago - our first night out on our road trip to follow the Nez Perce Trail. We found our room to be cleaner than any other places we stayed on our week long trip (that includes a couple of the "name brand" motels). It was very obvious to us that Scott "new owner" has taken great pride in making his motel the place to stay in Joseph, OR. Scott recommend a place to have dinner and breakfast....both places were terrific. read more
