This review is for sportsman. I would not recommend this shop. First off, it's the same company as the Mountain View Elk Ranch which has gated a public road that provides access to Shorts Creek and public land, effectively denying public access to public land. This appears to be in self-interest for their guiding business. I stopped by in the summer and bought some products to test before I took any meat there. Everything seemed great, but when my friend and I dropped off our elk in the fall, they threw away substantial portions of both elk without even attempting to call us. My elk was a heart shot elk that was quartered and delivered 18hrs after the shot was made. I've taken over 40 big game animals, and I always prioritize the meat, since I believe in eating lean, wild game instead of buying farmed animals. So, I was incredibly frustrated that they made their independent decision to throw away full quarters off an elk. Overall, their sausage is good, but their ethics and morals are lacking. read more

Go here if you have the chance. The Elk ribeye was incredible, so tender and lean! The bison ribeye and farm eggs were also fantastic. The cashier was friendly and funny and the coffee was the best we had during our 4 night stay in the McCall and Riggins area. It's about a 1 hour drive from McCall but worth it if you want to cook your own delicious, protein-rich meals IMO, and you will be treated to stunning views of the salmon river and the rugged mountains. read more

If you're looking for a wild game processor - STAY AWAY!!! Used them to process 2 bull elk we harvested on our 2020 elk hunt. Specifically asked to save the scraps for my dog as I knew SOME of the meat will need to be trimmed from the hind quarters of one of the bulls, the guy at the counter kinda nodded in reply. They call next day and say that 2 quarters have to be thrown away, as there's "green stuff" between the muscle groups. Asked if they can salvage whatever is still good and just seal and store whatever is not until we come to pick the meat up in a few days (I live 4 hours away and they knew it), the guy says "I can't keep it in my shop and it will be thrown away if you don't take it by 6pm". When another hunter from our party came to pick up his and my meat the next day after they called me, he discovered that they supposedly "threw away" one of his bull's hind quarters as it "smelled bad". His elk had no smells/dirt/spoilage in any of the meat as the bull was shot perfectly in the vitals, found and quartered quickly and carefully in cool weather and immediately delivered to the processor, all in less than 18 hours from the shot! read more
